"The tech was fantastic. Jay Lopez not only repaired my unit but stayed aroud to ensure no further problems would arise. I will be calling him back to service my heater unit in the fall to ensure it is in top operating order. I will recommend this company and this tech to all homeowners in my realm as I feel he is highly skilled and efficient conducting a diagnose of the system and solved all problems that arose in the most professional manner. The charge was well worth every penny. Very efficient and knowledgeable in the service provided."

"Air Pro didn’t awesome job for me. They replaced my air conditioning/heating unit with a new one from Carrier. Their price was lower than some companies I talked to and on par with others who carried what I considered less desirable brands. When I had trouble getting some of the rebate information Lori was incredibly helpful."

"100% Satisfied from start to finish. Armor came out to assess what needed to be done. Jason listened to my wants and needs and within a day presented a comprehensive and reasonable proposal. Work was completed within one day. He and his crew were on time (to the minute), worked efficiently, were professional/courteous, and maintain appropriate social distancing protocols. The job was completed, and there was no residual ‘contractor mess’. The units that were installed have surpassed my expectations. ?? Armor was wonderful - definitely will use their services again!"

"First time using Ortega Quality Mechanical and I will use them again. Scheduling the appointment was easy; it was an actual appointment, not a 2 or 4 hour window. Jake called before the appointment to let me know he might be a few minutes late and he arrived very shortly after the appointment time. He was personable and professional, fixed my problem at a reasonable cost and was happy to answer questions."

"It went extremely well!  The response from the Newmans at Controlled Comfort was outstanding and they schedule our service exactly in the time frame we had requested.  In fact, I received a call from Lisa to ask if I would like to take the appointment which was cancelled an hour earlier than originally scheduled.  My husband was amazed at the quality and the professionalism shown by Mr. Newman and his helper.  The quickly were up on the roof and working on our unit.  All the work listed in the Big Deal was performed which included cleaning, oiling and water line hook up.  However, having just moved into our home a few months ago, there were a few items that needed help.  We did not have a water line hooked up and our pads were in dire need of replacement.  Mr. Newman provided the water hose, hooked up the unit to the line and replace the pads.  He worked on the unit for approx one hour and now our home is no longer a sauna!  We paid slightly more than the Big Deal and not because Controlled Comfort requested but because we also asked Mr. Newman to do extra and he supplied additional parts and labor.  The total we paid was well worth it and we will, definitely, use Controlled Comfort for our yearly maintenance concerns.  Thank you!

FAQs for window a/c unit service or relocation projects in Albuquerque, NM

If your window air conditioner is relatively new or of high quality, repairing it can restore optimal performance and protect your investment. However, for older units or those with ongoing issues, it might be more cost-effective to replace the unit to ensure long-term efficiency and reliability. Consider the unit's age, the severity of the problem, repair costs versus replacement, and energy efficiency ratings when making your decision. If repairs cost more than half the price of a new unit, replacement is typically the better option.

Window air conditioners last eight to ten years on average. After this time, you may notice decreased efficiency and component wear. Replacing an older unit can improve energy savings and provide updated features like remote controls and better overall performance. With proper maintenance including regular filter cleaning, coil checks, and professional servicing, you can maximize your unit's lifespan.

If your portable AC isn't cooling, it might have a refrigerant leak or a circuit malfunction that's preventing it from working properly. It's best to contact a local air conditioner contractor to inspect and repair the unit. If your AC is older and repairs don't fix the issue, replacing it might be the most effective solution.

Removing a wall-mounted AC costs $55 to $75. Completing the removal yourself at the end of each summer season, being sure to do so according to proper guidelines, keeps you within this cost range. Should you require professional assistance for removal and disposal, if you can't move the unit yourself, expect an added fee of $25 to $50 to the overall cost.
