"I've been pleased with Polar Bear since they installed my A/C 16-17 years ago. Always prompt response to any problem, always knowledgeable professionals. Now it's time for a new system, I was walked through my options with no pressure to spend more, just the info on variables, and an offer of a discount, and very flexible deposit/payment arrangement. Great company."

"Although the AC unit was working, it was leaking water. I had another company come in and tell me that the main drain pan was cracked and that it would cost $2880 to repair or I could buy a new unit costing over $8500 dollars. I called Relax Air for a second opinion. Kamal and his crew came out the next day and confirmed that the drain pan was cracked and leaking. His repair cost? $400. I also had him do two other HVAC related jobs while he was there (replacing AC disconnect box and installing a water float switch]. They had everything done in and hour and a half. Total cost: $675. Kamal is fast, efficient and most of all honest. I would recommend him to anyone."

"the process was better than I expected. The sale man knew what he was talking about . The installation crew had worked for the company a long time and were also very knowable . When we could not understand a few things they sent out a serviceman just to show us how it works. They also directed us towards financiers and reabate availability."

"Ire just left my place and immediately knew what was wrong with why I was not receiving heat in my unit in a condo building. He was very polite, and wore protective gear. He answered all of my questions because I had doubts about the smart thermostat I had installed. Ire was able to determine that it was not the wiring, but the piping that runs through my building. He also double checked the wiring and was very familiar with ecobee smart thermostats. I highly recommend JDL HVAC Services. Ire was prompt, knowledgable, and overall great."

"They were excellent.  The house I bought had a 27 year old hot water heater.  It was obviously on its last leg.  When it nearly stopped providing hot water, I called my home warranty company, and they sent Modern Mechanical.  The technician was so nice and honest; I felt as if he was a long-time friend.  He explained the advantages of a tankless system and since I was getting money from the home warranty that it would be worth the difference I would have to pay.  After installing the system, the kitchen faucet didn't have good pressure, so he replaced it for free.  He even worked to get one that looked like the one I had.  They were absolutely wonderful and I would definitely recommend them to anyone.

"Great -- they call to set up the appointment, talk to me to choose a good time for both of us, call to say they're on their way.
Very thorough, they answer all our questions regarding our furnace, AC, humidifier, everything.  We had them install the whole thing for us back in 2007.

"We had a couple of plumbing issues (leaking faucet in laundry room, toilet leaking) Brad Thomas came to the house and did a great job! He replaced both faucets to the washing machine (old house and needed replacing) and ended up having to replace the toilet seal. Also while he was there he installed new guts in all the toilets and fixed a leaking faucet in upstairs bathroom. He was at the house for about 2 1/2 hours. We felt we were charged a reasonable price and we were really appreciative for his professionalism and neat work. Add'l Clover's Heating & A/C guy came to do the seasonal inspection (as part of our maintenance contract). While he checked everything he did suggest that we call him back once the weather got warm enough for the A/C to kick on so he can double check things. Super nice and very informative!"

"After living in our Toll Brothers home for 12 years we were fed up with the poorly functioning heating and air conditioning in our upstairs bedrooms.  We had made several repairs and modifications to the system over the years, but none helped.  We were considering moving because the upstairs bedrooms were so uncomfortable in the summer and winter.  We must have talked to 5 different HVAC contractors.  We asked Climatic for an estimate to repair or replace, if necessary, our upstairs unit.  Sonny Swann came out and gave us an estimate.  He suggested we replace everything in order to make the system and duct work finally work as it should.  We signed off and agreed to all his suggestions.  I told him that this was mission impossible, but he remained convinced that he could make it work.  Well he did it! It took A LOT of work on their part - some of which they did at no charge, but it works great.  I highly recommend Climatic Heating and Cooling.

FAQs for swamp cooler installation and replacement projects in Aldie, VA

Swamp coolers are quite energy-efficient, using only 15% to 35% of the electricity that traditional central air conditioning units consume. This can lead to significant savings on your energy bills. However, keep in mind that swamp coolers require water to operate and may not cool your home as effectively in extremely hot or humid conditions. When considering overall efficiency, it is essential to weigh both electricity and water usage, as well as the cooling needs specific to your local climate.

Evaporative coolers only work in dry climates because they cool by moistening the air. If the air is already moist, this will have little to no cooling effect. Central AC is a better choice if you live in a humid climate, such as the Midwest, eastern, or western coastal regions.

To install a swamp cooler on a roof, a local HVAC specialist will first find and cut a spot free of wiring and obstructions. They’ll then install metal bracing, legs, brackets, the ceiling duct register, ductwork, power, and thermostat wires. Once installed, they’ll seal all openings, attach duct connections, and install a thermostat. Before leaving, they’ll run cool water piping to the unit and inspect all the connections.

The cost to repair your swamp cooler ranges from $50 to $600, depending on the issue, whether new parts are needed, and the chosen repair service. Depending on the type of pad your system uses, you will need to change out the pads every one to three years for proper operation. When budgeting for the cost to repair a window unit, expect to pay around $230.

The U.S. Department of Energy states that swamp coolers can cool a single room by five to 15 degrees Fahrenheit. However, this largely depends on the size and installation method of the evaporative cooler. You can only achieve these results in a dry climate, such as the American South, as it’s easier to cool rooms in humid environments with central air.

Swamp cooler water usage varies depending on the size of the unit. Smaller evaporative units may use one gallon per hour, while much larger units could use up to 15 gallons of water per hour. Most homeowners can expect their unit to use between seven and 10 gallons of water per hour of usage.
