"Of course your air conditioner dies when the temperature is high. Total Comfort came to the rescue. They were able to come out on the day we called. Alex gave us a quote for a new unit that we could not pass up. A lot lower than we anticipated. Joseph and Mike were fantastic. They arrived and after a quick tour of the carcass of the old unit, they went straight to work. We could not be happier with their professionalism. By four that afternoon Joseph and Mike were finished. A quick lesson on our new thermostat and a few pointers on keeping our unit running efficiently and we were cooling our house. We highly recommend Total Comfort for your heating and cooling needs."

"He was very professional. His price was very fair - $85.00 per unit. It took him about 45 minutes to service all 3 units and he told me they could be serviced once a year or even every other year if I wanted. I will certainly have him back next year!"

"By the time the service rep was contacted and he called us, we had purchased the part and repaired the air conditioner unit ourselves. We had hire the service company to do a complete service on the unit on June 23,2022. I would recommend Freedom Heating and Air to anyone needing service. They were very professional and did a thorough job. They explained what they were doing from beginning to end. We were shown pictures of before and after as they did the work. We will use them again if it becomes necessary."

FAQs for window a/c unit service or relocation projects in Amissville, VA

If your window air conditioner is relatively new or of high quality, repairing it can restore optimal performance and protect your investment. However, for older units or those with ongoing issues, it might be more cost-effective to replace the unit to ensure long-term efficiency and reliability. Consider the unit's age, the severity of the problem, repair costs versus replacement, and energy efficiency ratings when making your decision. If repairs cost more than half the price of a new unit, replacement is typically the better option.

Window air conditioners last eight to ten years on average. After this time, you may notice decreased efficiency and component wear. Replacing an older unit can improve energy savings and provide updated features like remote controls and better overall performance. With proper maintenance including regular filter cleaning, coil checks, and professional servicing, you can maximize your unit's lifespan.

If your portable AC isn't cooling, it might have a refrigerant leak or a circuit malfunction that's preventing it from working properly. It's best to contact a local air conditioner contractor to inspect and repair the unit. If your AC is older and repairs don't fix the issue, replacing it might be the most effective solution.

Removing a wall-mounted AC costs $55 to $75. Completing the removal yourself at the end of each summer season, being sure to do so according to proper guidelines, keeps you within this cost range. Should you require professional assistance for removal and disposal, if you can't move the unit yourself, expect an added fee of $25 to $50 to the overall cost.
