"The plumber from Randy Lane did a good job of the plumbing work and also a very good job of explaining what he was doing. Our house is fairly old and a lot of sections of copper pipe were corroded. As we can not afford to do all of them at once, we had to replace just the pipes and sections that are most corroded and/or leaky. The plumber helped me prioritize which sections should be re-piped now, and which ones could reasonably be watched and replaced in the future. He explained this clearly and without pressure, then when I decided on the best approach he got to work on it. As always, I have confidence in the work that was performed by Randy Lane. Over the years at our previous house and our current one, we've had several different plumbers from Randy Lane perform various types of plumbing work for us, and the work has always been quality. I highly recommend this company.

"This company has treated me well, especially Mike Museus, who worked over a year (last summer and this spring) to find out why there was a fluid leak in my new AC unit. The leak didn't affect the cooling of my home so I wasn't concerned, but Mike was persistent, even to returning finally with an "expert" to help diagnose the problem. What they found was that the A-coil above the furnace was full of tiny pinholes. On the day this was to be replaced, Steve came before 9 a.m. to remove the defective A-Coil and install the new one. He worked on it all day, without lunch or a break, leaving shortly after 5 p.m. There was no charge, as it was still under warranty. With all that, he still took the time to explain to me why the replacement was so important: that the defective A-Coil could eventually leak enough to damage the furnace below it. Because he was using solder, I believe, to install the new part, he turned on the ceiling fan in the adjacent room to mitigate the fumes. My only complaint is that a few of my vinyl floor tiles were damaged/discolored by the soldering process. That part of the flooring has had water damage before and is missing a few tiles so, after a day of hard work, he may have attributed the damage to work done before. It's not a big deal; I just wish he'd have said something. I have to hand it to Steve, though; he was working by himself, which frequently required him to leave the furnace area to check the outdoor AC unit, then rush back to the indoor work. I think it might have been a two-person job. At least, an assistant could have facilitated some of the work done."

After all it is 29 years old so I expected to hear nothing but that I probably needed to replace the whole system. One HVAC service company said it would begin at $800 (flat fee) and probably go up to $1,500 or even more.I called DJ's and explained the situation. After going over the problem on the phone, I looked at the symptoms Rick at DJ's described. He had Nancy call me back and she went over their service pricing. Standard minimum for one half hour and by the hour (but actually by the minute) after the first half hour which is what I wanted. Not a flat fee thank you. Coolant cost is by the pound or fraction of a pound. Exact pricing.Brian called the morning of the service to give me an approximate arrival and he was there on time. He went right to work and my concern of being ripped off evaporated. No fooling around, no stalling, just got right to work and got the job done keeping me informed of what he was doing all the way. He made out a detailed bill of what he did and the cost which was exactly what Nancy told me it would be. Honest, fast service. No surprises, nothing but good work at a fair price. DJ's will continue to get my call anytime I need furnace or A/C work. They have three locations but service most of the twin cities and all the west suburbs for sure."
