"I didn't have a great experience with HAL Co. They take FOREVER to return calls/emails. The day they were scheduled to come replace my fence they no-showed and I had to call the office around 4 pm to find out they weren't coming because a job was running late. The rescheduled installation was a day I was in the office. The crew said the outlet in my back yard wasn't working, so they left without calling me or ringing the doorbell to ask about it (the circuit just needed to be reset, which my partner at home could have done). I didn't find out until several hours later when the office called to tell me the crew had left. The fence finally got installed, and a few days later a neighbor found nails in two of his tires. The crew claimed they performed a metal sweep of the area, but now the neighbor is trying to get me to replace his tires. Finally, the gate latch got damaged somehow, possibly in a storm that happened a few days after the fence install, and HAL wanted $130 to replace the latch. I bought a latch kit off Amazon for $30 and did it myself."

We do this efficiently by using project, customer service and communication tools and technologies along with a great staff that all share the same vision of excellence. "HD Exteriors replaced our 20 year-old wood deck with a beautiful new Trex deck in April. We had gotten 4 presentations from companies based on contacts we got from the Capital Home Show, and HD Exteriors was head and shoulders above all the others in design, detail, cost, and communication. Graham Jr., was our point of contact in setting our contract, and he was friendly, knowledgeable, professional, and clear. He listened to what we wanted to do, offered suggestions and didn’t try to upsell us. We were given a start timeframe, but our actual start date was earlier, which we appreciated. Throughout the entire process of signing the contract, having questions answered, being assigned a project manager, (Jai, who was always accessible and awesome) and the actual work being done, the communication was excellent. We were notified when workers would be onsite, when inspections were scheduled, when walk-thrus were done, and had access via text to our PM. All of it was extremely well done. The deck was finished with excellent workmanship, even when they installed a style of steps they’d never done before. We can’t say enough positive things about the entire company and how they operated. They were a pleasure to work with. We’re just sorry we don’t have anything else for them to build!"

Installing a window seat can take anywhere from three to 20 hours, depending on the complexity of the project. A professional carpenter can complete a basic installation in as little as three hours if no modifications are needed. If they need to remove cabinets, shelves, or baseboards, it can extend the work to a full day. If you're tackling a DIY project, expect it to take a full day for a basic seat and several days for more advanced designs that involve extra structural adjustments.
A built-in window seat that measures four feet in width will seat two adults comfortably or let one person stretch out. Ideal dimensions are 17 to 20 inches in depth and 16 to 21 inches in height to ensure a balanced design and optimal comfort. Make sure your window seat isn't higher than the bottom of your window for a harmonious look in your space.
You might need a building permit to install your window seat. Even though it's an indoor modification, some municipalities require permits for any built-in seating that is added to residential properties. Check with your local building authorities and your professional carpenter to ensure you're in compliance and avoid any potential penalties.
