"They did a great job! Everyone that I contacted with the company during my experience was helpful and polite. They installed a new HVAC (furnace downstairs and a/c outside) and a hot water heater in a 135 year old house which is a challenge, but faced it no problem. When they offered suggestions to make the system run better by adding additional cold air returns, they really worked with me to make sure that I was happy with placement and the finished product.....I mean who wants extra unattractive vents in the floor?? but they really made it look great! They were my lowest bid of 6 others selected from Angie's List/Lowe's and Home Depot and when the work was done it was right on bid not a cent more! I would definitely do business with them again my new systems are running great and the house feels very comfortable now. "During the recent hot weather streak, I turned on my AC for the first time this year only to find it blowing warm air.  I prepared myself for the worst, knowing that the system was 14 years old. 
The technician, Sean, arrived later that day and quickly found the problem.  It was just a stuck fan on the AC unit.  He quickly unjammed it and checked all the other functions of the system while on site.  I then asked him if it was time to consider system replacement, and he told me this particular system would probably have about six more years of life.  I was charged a very reasonable fee and he was on his way.  The technician was clean, well-mannered, and respectful of my home.

I have used this company for about five years now.  NEVER have I felt pressured into a sale or for a repair that was not needed.  If they would have told me the system needed replaced, I would have gone with their recommendation.

Having worked in the plumbing division of corporate owned HVAC companies for the past 8 years, I had become accustomed to high pressure sales tactics from the technicians and that system replacement was the only option.  I would caution other homeowners who read this to be leery of many of these HVAC companies out there, but not Smith and Son. "To me, this is a "guy" thing, so I'm limited in what I can explain! The Guys take off the top of the unit outside for cleaning. They use a hose to clean the outside part of the unit. They run several tests to make sure it's running efficiently. Then they check out the unit inside the house, to make sure the motor & all its parts are functioning properly. The Service Guys I've met have all been in this line of work for a number of years. Whenever I've called the office with a question or problem, the Girls in the office have been fantastic in walking me through a situation, or getting an answer to a question.

"Excellent service, very fast response to my request for service, picked up laptop, diagnosed issues. Initially thought it was an OS update issue but the hard drive had failed along with other components (including 'CPU). Because other components were involved, a new solid state hard drive was put into a laptop with a working processor - same type CPU as in the failed unit. The laptop was repaired and returned in less than a week. This company picked up and dropped off the laptop (driving from Huntsville, AL (about 60-70 minutes)-- great service in this covid environment. I would recommend this company to my family./friends and will use again."
