"Jeff arrived to our home and provided an estimate for a new furnace and A/C system. Very professional and courteous. Seemed very knowledgeable and answered my questions easily. Spent time measuring windows and even called the city to get an accurate sq footage of the home to design the right system. Although we ended up going with a different HVAC system, I would have no hesitation recommending this company and will likely use them for any service we may need in the future. Excellent."

"The product was good, the installation was OK, the overall experience was disappointing.
First, these windows were ordered on March 13th. We were expecting a baby in May. We thought that two months was a reasonable amount of time to order windows and have them installed. The salesman told us that 4-5 weeks for ordering and installation was typical. We thought we were in great shape. A month passes and we have heard NOTHING. On April 22nd we finally call to see what was going on...we had expected to be contacted about installation by now. We learn that the windows have not arrived yet, and were told that they would look into it. Several more phone calls, and returned calls, and un-returned calls later, it is now the end of May and we have a baby. And still no windows.
So June rolls in and we are all a bit frazzled by bringing a newborn home, so it is nearing the end of June before we realize..."Where are our new windows?" (by this time I have stopped tracking the phone calls). We speak to the installer and are told that they are way behind because of various family emergencies. (Ok...I get it..stuff happens.) We tell them the two weeks that we'll be out of town and unavailable for installations during the end of June/beginning of July.
We get one, maybe two calls telling us "Sorry, we're really busy, thanks for your patience, I'll call tomorrow to schedule you." And then no call.
It's now the end of July and I text the installer that I NEED the windows done in the next two weeks. We schedule for August 4th, and finally, we have our new windows.
But that's not the end of the story. Our windows were hard to remove, and basically had to be broken and pried out of the brick surrounding them. This left a huge mess of glass, which was not cleaned up.  The installers left without letting me know, or I would have asked them to clean up better. (The foreman came several days later and cleaned it up for us after we called to complain. That gesture was appreciated.) I also didn't have a chance to operate the windows before they left. One of them slid great. The other barely opened. After I got it open I saw the cause was a broken plastic piece (balancer spring cover?). I mean, at least I have windows, but only one of them works. (Not sure how that was missed by the installers.....)
When I called about the glass I also mentioned the broken piece. I texted a picture of it to the foreman, and was told it would be ordered by the window manufacturer and someone would contact me when it was in.
Now it is the end of September, and I called last week to inquire about getting the window fixed. That call hasn't been returned yet, but I cannot wait to post this review any longer. When there is some kind of resolution I will post an update
Honestly, this might be a one off bad experience where all the stars aligned and we just got caught in the middle. Everyone has been friendly. We were given a $100 discount for the delayed installation. But it's really disappointing when there is not effective communication with your customer. Call me and update me if there is a problem. Return my calls when you say you're going to return them. I'm a busy mom of three, I won't always remember or be able to play phone tag, but I'm PAYING for your company to provide a service.

"I recommend D&T Heating and Cooling to anyone in need of heating or cooling repairs, installation and services. Not only have they been professional and courteous from beginning to end but they offer the best prices around and ever take advantage of a client in desperate need of repairs. They act quickly and are very punctual. D&T always takes the time to show you the problem, explaining all possible solutions and will do everything they can to keep your old furnace running safely - they DO NOT attempt to sell you a new system when they know there are years of life left in what you currently have. D&T Heating and Cooling provides top notch service at affordable prices. They have earned my business for life."

FAQs for window a/c unit service or relocation projects in Atlas, MI

If your window air conditioner is relatively new or of high quality, repairing it can restore optimal performance and protect your investment. However, for older units or those with ongoing issues, it might be more cost-effective to replace the unit to ensure long-term efficiency and reliability. Consider the unit's age, the severity of the problem, repair costs versus replacement, and energy efficiency ratings when making your decision. If repairs cost more than half the price of a new unit, replacement is typically the better option.

Window air conditioners last eight to ten years on average. After this time, you may notice decreased efficiency and component wear. Replacing an older unit can improve energy savings and provide updated features like remote controls and better overall performance. With proper maintenance including regular filter cleaning, coil checks, and professional servicing, you can maximize your unit's lifespan.

If your portable AC isn't cooling, it might have a refrigerant leak or a circuit malfunction that's preventing it from working properly. It's best to contact a local air conditioner contractor to inspect and repair the unit. If your AC is older and repairs don't fix the issue, replacing it might be the most effective solution.

Removing a wall-mounted AC costs $55 to $75. Completing the removal yourself at the end of each summer season, being sure to do so according to proper guidelines, keeps you within this cost range. Should you require professional assistance for removal and disposal, if you can't move the unit yourself, expect an added fee of $25 to $50 to the overall cost.
