"Not the best experience.  I felt rushed on the phone getting my bid and then it seemed like some prices were more when he came out.  My little plastic valence holders kept breaking (normal that they would break when moved; old, sun-dried, etc) and Monte kept saying he'd give me some velcro to reattach the valences.  He never did give me any velcro and didn't even put back 2 of the valence boards at all, just left them in the corner of the rooms.  Kind of left a drippy mess, didn't clean window sills off very well.  All in all; the job was done, the blinds are clean, but probably would not use them again."

"I never contacted the provider or used this service in anyway. I have to
write this review so that the request to write this review stops
popping up.
The rating is bogus as it is required to be able to submit.

"Palm Construction used subcontractors at every stage (not unusual), but there was little to no oversight. Communication was a problem. I am doubtful that the product (Trex decking) was installed according to **manufacturers guidelines** and worry what that may mean to the longevity of the final product. Some parts of the install were handled brilliantly and with finesse. Other parts were done hurriedly, resulting in damage to the substructure. Palm has made efforts to repair or redo, as necessary, which I appreciate, but some of their promises fell by the wayside."

"The overall experience was fine, they showed up everyday,  Javier Chacone was on top of everything, this was a somewhat big project and it lasted about 4 months, which we lived with easily. They cleaned up everyday and they were really friendly. At times it was a bit frustrating, not with their performance, but the time it took to get the furniture. I would definately recommend them to anyone looking for a top notch company."

"Tim is an excellent handyman! Very polite, professional, knowledgeable, patient and his quote is very reasonable. He repaired my broken sofa/recliner in less than an hour! I also asked for his help to put together the valance of my vertical blinds, which came off place and felt down. He put it together and hanged it...just to help me out. I highly recommend him for many projects around the house and wish him success in his business!"

"It was a special that I purchased for four hours of home maintenance. I needed to have the parts because they don't bring parts. They will do the maintenance. They were on time and were very professional. They did a great job on all the different projects that I gave them to do. If it goes over four hours then they will tell me upfront the fee and they give a reduced rate."

"Doug performed exactly like he originally promised, worked well to accomodate timing needs of other subs (plumer, floor install), he was prompt, came as scheduled, very hardworking, good communication on what he would do or if there were changes needed - excellent work at a fair price. He has a wide range of skills and accomodated my much lower quality work with grace. That really helped us out as we would not have been able to afford the quality of remodel without accomodating my work into the mix. I am sure he would have found it easier to do it all but accomodated my needs. I supplied most of the materials to save on his time but he will gladely do all inclusive work. He works on time and materials and frankly for someone like him, this gives you the best deal - fair for each. His estimates for the work were very close to what he actually did. And when he found hidden needs like the dry rot, he estimated both cost and time impacts well at before conducting that work. You may be able to do better than Doug, but I doubt it."

FAQs for blinds or shades repair projects in Auburn, WA

If you're wondering whether repairing your blinds is worth it, consider the quality and age of your blinds. For high-end or custom blinds, repairing them can preserve their quality, functionality, and design, making repair a smart choice. Immediate repairs maintain the original look and performance. However, if your blinds are over six years old, extensively damaged, or of lower quality, replacing them might be more cost-effective, as new blinds offer better efficiency and modern technology. Weigh the repair costs against the benefits of replacement to make the best decision for your situation.

When damage undermines the integrity and appearance of your blinds, replacement becomes the clear option. You should replace your blinds when damage to slats or fabric prevents you from obtaining an exact match, thereby compromising appearance and function. Severe damage increases repair complexity and expense. Replacing blinds not only restores superior performance but also creates an opportunity for aesthetic upgrades and lasting benefits.

You should plan to replace your blinds at least every 10 years, with clear signs of wear, such as discoloration, deterioration, or functional issues, emerging by five years. Regular evaluation of style, quality, and performance supports an informed decision. While minor repairs may temporarily extend usability, a complete replacement secures optimal operation and updated design.

Establish a regular maintenance routine to keep your blinds looking and functioning their best. Clean them regularly with mild, specialized products and follow the manufacturer's recommended usage guidelines. UV-blocking window film can protect against fading and warping from sun exposure. Regular inspections and proactive maintenance will preserve their appearance and performance, extending their overall lifespan.

If you pull the blind string and it does not move, it indicates a malfunction in the mechanism, such as a broken cord, a jammed cord lock, or a stuck component. Inspect the string for breaks and examine the headrail for any obstructions. Replace the defective cord or cord lock as necessary to restore proper operation and maintain functionality.

Yes, you can replace your blind string yourself by using a replacement kit available at home improvement stores. Accurate measurement of the string diameter is essential for a perfect fit. Gather the necessary tools and follow the manufacturer’s instructions rigorously to secure a safe, lasting fix. If the task demands more time than anticipated, hiring a professional is advisable to avoid further damage.
