"John gave us prompt service when a tenant's furnace died right before Christmas. He was able to come the same day, on a Friday and determine that the 23 year old furnace had given up the ghost. He gave us the Angie's List discount and didn't charge extra even though the job required more of his time and labor than expected. The extra work included replacing the thermostat, as it was old and not very accurate, and he reconnected a main duct behind the furnace that was disconnected which led up to the second floor, plus he installed a volume damper which allows you to close/open/adjust air volume to the upper floor. Our tenant appreciated the heat coming back on so quickly."

"Mark called me the same day I made the request for quotes/bids. He was on time for the in-home evaluation and provided a detailed estimate/proposal within a few hours. Mark is a straight shooter and gave me several options along with explanations as to what was gained or lost at the different price points. He was also very kind regarding other estimates and helping me to verify I was comparing apples to apples. The job was scheduled sooner than I anticipated, which was nice. His crew was on time and began removal before Mark arrived on sight to work with them and supervise. His workers were very professional and mindful of my overly curious cat that seeks to escape at any opportunity. The entire job took a day to complete from beginning to end and they hauled away the old equipment and scrap. The AC now blows nice and cold for the first time in about 10 years. After years of window A/C units, I had forgotten how great (and quiet) a properly installed and functioning central air system is. I highly recommend Mark and his business Air Control Systems for any HVAC work you may have. They have earned my business for as long as I live in this area. Thanks guys- Great job!"

FAQs for central a/c service or repair projects in Beaverton, OR

A condenser fan motor is a crucial part of your air conditioner that prevents the compressor from overheating. It pulls heat from your AC unit to cool the refrigerant moving through the condenser coils. This allows your system to blow cool air and keeps everything running smoothly.

The most common causes of AC fan motor failure include loss of lubricant in the system due to overheating and a rusted or leaking run capacitor. Poor lubrication can also cause failure in the belt drive, which may impact the AC fan motor. Weather and electrical components can also affect your AC. For example, a storm could send water into your motor windings and damage the internal components.

Air conditioner fan motors last about 12 years on average, though they can last longer if maintained well. This includes keeping them clean and cooled as needed with annual air conditioner checkups. Routine maintenance is essential to catch AC fan issues early. An HVAC inspection can cost between $70 and $500, while AC cleaning services may range from $100 to $400.

A broken AC fan motor may need replacement because this part usually can’t be repaired. Several things indicate it’s time to replace your AC fan motor, including buzzing noises, a constantly running fan, unusually high energy bills, or an aging system. If you notice these signs, call an HVAC pro for help before the faulty motor starts to strain other parts of the AC system.

There are clear warning signs of a bad AC fan motor, including unusual interruptions in the fan operation. The motor might be malfunctioning if you hear weird noises like grinding or rattling or if the fan continues to spin when the unit is off. These indicators compromise your AC’s cooling performance and increase your energy costs. Addressing these issues immediately by contacting a trusted HVAC professional prevents further damage and safeguards your HVAC's efficiency.

Replacing your AC fan motor takes a professional one to four hours. The technician will start by assessing your system and safely removing the damaged motor. If a new part needs to be ordered, it might take a few days. Once the part is available, your pro will install it properly and make sure your system is running smoothly.
