"Excellent! Sterling was prompt, courteous, and professional in the way he went about the job, explaining each step and telling me up front what the cost of the effort would be. He cleaned the clog and left no mess whatsoever. I would highly recommend his business and would seek his help again for another plumbing problem."

"Am starting this review for this contractor as he partially finished the job with the promise to be back in two weeks to address the remaining cosmetic clean-up and seeding.  I will finish reviewing the quality of his work in greater details when he comes back to complete the job started and update on the overall quality of his workmanship.
Roots from a tree had damaged the sewer line of my 1949 house.  Needless to say, it was not pleasant.  I called five contractors and everyone (with the exception of 1) quoted similar estimates for the job.  I chose Knock Your Plumb Out Plumbing because reading the reviews in Angie's List, talking to a reference, and partially because Johnathan (the owner) was proactive in his communication with me.  He was efficient-visited my house, called the city to get a better idea of my sewer line and the city's, identified that a water line may have to be replaced since the sewer line is beneath it, gave me a quote--all within a span of a few hours.  He then followed-up.  I was initially taken aback on how assertive he was, but in retrospect, it was what made Johnathan stood out amongst the other 4 contractors I called.  Once I screened Johnathan, my husband took over the details in communicating with Jonathan while updating me.  My husband and I were quite concerned initially when we read the negative reviews that Jonathan did not come back to finish the job; however, Jonathan was open and willing to discuss our concerns.  He seemed upfront and a straight shooter, which my husband typically appreciates.
Once the contract was signed, Jonathan called to set up a day to begin the job.  Due to several raining days this past week, the work was delayed by a couple of days.  Jonathan and his crew worked all day to hand-dig the yard and completed the job by the evening.  My husband checked in twice throughout the day.  Our yard looks horrible right now, but Johnathan reassures us that I will look better.  He will come back to complete the job in two weeks and seed the yard for grass.  I will become back to finish up this review.  Thus far though, Johnathan is very professional.  His quote is within the range of other contractors' (although he gives a lifetime warranty-not sure whose life's or how we can enforce that though :))!  He is very communicative and will update you on the progress.  He didn't pick up my phone call but did pick up for my husband on the day he was working.  If all goes well, I will definitely recommend Knock Your Plumb Out Plumbing to other friends in the city and will use him again for other works.  Will be back to update this review.  The rating of B for "overall" and "quality" are not reflective of the work per say but as the work is not completed yet, it will have to be a B right now.

"

My 1952 house was not equipped with a vent, nor proper traps for either the washing machine or sink. There were sewer gases backing up on occasion, into the sink area, which is of course unpleasant.

Robert installed the traps, then came back to add the vent to the outside of the house. He did not have to go through the attic and roof. The end result looks like it was built with the house, and blends in well with the exterior.

He responds to my need for help either instantly or within 24 hours, is professional and knows his business. Anyone he hires is up to his standards, and those are very high. Having a reliable and qualified plumber is key to survival, and for that need, I go to Robert!!

"We came home from shopping and discovered our water heater was leaking. I called James because we were happy with the work he had done earlier this year. I called him late afternoon and we discussed replacing the tank, which was about 12 years old. He asked about the type heater we had now and because I was unsure he asked if I could take a photo and text it to him. I did so and he quoted me a price and arrived early the next morning. I was really impressed that instead of bringing the heater and equipment through the house, he and his assistant brought it down our very steep hill and brought it in, where it was to be installed. They arrived on time, installed it and cleaned up and left everything in great condition. Happy with the job."

"Amazing. Matt and Dillon investigated the purported problem thoroughly and determined that the pipe was not broken and it would pass inspection. They were so professional and courteous. If you need a plumber, call Aqua. I can't recommend them highly enough."

"The team from Charles Moon was awesome! The lead plumber, Carl, knew so much about the unit, I thought he might have actually designed it! They took the time to discuss installation options , esp. with my wife and she really appreciated that. Carl even said he'd come back and put the fixtures on if I had problems for no charge! Who does that?! In short, this company is amazing. I will never use anyone else and recommend you use them for your plumbing jobs."

"This company did an excellent job.  House, patio, step and walkway all look 100% better.  I was amazed at how clean they got the patio because it was extremely dirty, much more so than the house.  I was given an appointment for the following week the same  day I called them, which is significant to me since the other company I tried to use would not give me an appointment, telling me they would call the day before the service was to be performed.  The staff contacted me on the day of the appointment to let me know they would be postponing my appointment time to a little later in the day due to the sudden cold temperature change the night before which continued into the next morning when the work was scheduled to be done.  By the time I arrived at the house after work, the job was completed.  They did not damage any of the window or door screens and the yard was the same as before they came, i.e., no water or cleaning solution all over the place.  Also, their billing process was very convenient for me since I no longer live in the house; they sent the invoice via email and allowed me to mail the payment to them.
I highly recommend this company and plan to use them in the future when needed.

FAQs for sewer main install, replace or repair projects in Belcamp, MD

When installing a sewer line, you should consider extra costs like tree removal, driveway repairs, or patio resurfacing. Hiring a professional plumber is essential, and you may need additional specialists if landscaping or heavy excavation is involved. Addressing these potential extras up front helps ensure accurate budgeting and prevents sudden cost overruns.

To calculate the length of sewer piping you need, measure the distance from your house to the main sewer line, adding the depth of the city main to this distance. Be sure to account for any obstacles like tree roots or utility lines that may require additional piping.

City sewer lines are installed at a lower elevation to prevent unwanted backflow and water damage. This lower positioning ensures enhanced performance and long-term safety, meeting all technical and safety standards.

With trenchless methods, a plumber inserts a smaller pipe within the existing plumbing, avoiding full excavation. It can be more cost-effective and less disruptive than traditional methods, but it's not suitable for all homes.

Yes, you must secure permission from your local water authority before connecting to a public sewer line. This approval ensures your connection meets all regulatory requirements.

Sewer lines are buried between 18 inches and 8 feet deep, with most systems placed between 18 and 30 inches. In colder regions, pipes are set deeper to remain below the frost line.
