"From my very first phone call, Tim was extremely helpful and eager to assist, clearly explaining the process and answering all of my questions. Jim visited first to assess the project, and I explained that the work would involve remodeling an existing built‑in furniture unit and transforming it into a functional home office. He fully understood the scope and offered practical input based on his experience. Jim completed the work on time and to a very high standard, with excellent attention to detail and overall quality. The transformation from the original built‑in to the finished home office exceeded my expectations, both in terms of craftsmanship and functionality. It was a pleasure working with Tristate from start to finish, and I would not hesitate to highly recommend them."

"The work is well done --- down to matching the antique finish on pieces where only part of the piece needed reworking. Tim Beckett is polite and professional and my experience with him has shown that he is as good as his word when he schedules pick up and delivery times. It was a real pleasure to work with him. He was thorough in his estimates and there were no surprises. I recommend him unhesitatingly. Beckett will be working on some more pieces for me after the new year and I anticipate being just as happy with these as I am with the pieces that were just returned. They had glass cut to fit a tea cart, took care of staining, rub marks, and gouges, and beautifully mended the leg of a mid 19th century desk that had snapped off. The coffee table and bureau that were completely refinished are just lovely. I couldn't be happier. <br />"

"Thomas did a fantastic job on our kitchen cabinets. He hung all of our inset cabinet doors, made a couple of doors to match others, and built drawer boxes that fit perfectly into our existing cabinet bases. He was professional, kind, and very intent on executing the job to perfection. He is a true craftsman who loves what he does. I wouldn't hesitate to hire him again for any woodworking project for our home. We were so happy to have hired him."

"He did a really good job and we just got it back on Wednesday of this week. We have a dog that chewed our leather couch and chewed holes in different spots. He had to replace pieces of it and then re-stain it. It came back and it looks brand new. They did an excellent job. He was very friendly and very personable. He did have a little bit of trouble with getting our furniture back when he said, but he got real sick and ended up in the hospital. It was fine; it was not like we were sitting on tin cans. If we had needed it right away, I think they would have done something, but we were not in a hurry. He came in and did the quote. After we decided to go ahead and have it done, then he came with his nephew to take the furniture out of our house. He wasn't even here 10 minutes; he had the furniture loaded, and was driving off with it. He really knows what he is doing. He quoted us a price and that was the price we paid. He didn't overcharge us, which was very credible. When they brought the furniture back, he brought it in, and put it back together."

FAQs for furniture refinish projects in Bellbrook, OH

A complete table refinishing project requires between four and eight days from start to finish. The actual hands-on work takes between two and 10 hours, with the remaining time dedicated to drying periods between applications. The stripping and sanding phases demand the most active labor, while applying finishes requires patience as each layer dries completely before proceeding.

Several elements influence dining table refinishing costs, with size being the primary factor. Larger tables or those with extensions require more materials and labor time. The wood type matters significantly—hardwoods may need specialized treatment compared to softer woods. The table's current condition also impacts pricing, as damaged surfaces need repairs before refinishing can begin.

Refinishing often proves more economical than purchasing a comparable quality replacement. Professional table refinishing costs between $150 and $400 on average, while preserving the original craftsmanship and character of your piece.

This approach makes particular sense for well-constructed wood furniture that would be expensive to replace with similar quality. For sentimental pieces or antiques, refinishing also maintains their history and personal value.

Professional furniture refinishers charge between $40 and $100 per hour for their services. This rate varies based on geographic location, the refinisher's experience level, and the complexity of the project. Some professionals offer project-based pricing rather than hourly rates, especially for standard-sized pieces like coffee tables or end tables. When requesting quotes, ask whether the estimate includes materials or represents labor costs only.

For tables with minor wear, you can sometimes refresh the appearance without complete stripping and sanding. Using gel stains and wipe-on finishes can address surface issues while preserving the existing finish underneath. This approach works best for tables with light cosmetic damage rather than those with deep scratches or damaged finishes. However, proper stripping and sanding remain necessary for comprehensive restoration or significant color changes for professional-quality results.
