"Northrup is truly a wonderful company. Bob Nentl communicated with us throughout the project and the carpentry was beautifully done, so the porch/sunroom looks like it was original to our 1913 home. Top-notch professionals, and we'd rehire them for any home improvement project."

"The entire process went well and only took 1 day to install the window. We had used Craftsman for 4 other windows and 2 patio doors a couple years ago and everything went well, so we went back for the final window in the house."

"It went great! It took about a day and a half to get them installed. Our house is small but the upper floor's roofline is very high off the ground; the installer had to go up on an extended ladder to reach it, but the gutters are flush against the building all around. I would definitely recommend Lindus Construction."

"Excellent experience. The salesperson is very knowledgeable and informative and not high pressure. The two installers, Mike and Eric, were very efficient and very patient with me and willing to answer my questions. They installed the patio doors and three windows in two days. I intend to have more windows replaced in the future."

"The quality of the project management, the workmanship and the professionalism of the workers was outstanding.  The project required flexibility, as were weren't sure what we were going to find beneath the flooring and behind the walls when we opened them up.  There were surprises and the team successfully adapted the plans to accommodate them without compromising our objectives. The bath is tiny and can't be expanded at reasonable expense for structural reasons. Jim came up with a clean, uncluttered design that uses mirrors to make it look larger.  He increased storage using a recessed medicine cabinet behind one of the mirrors. <br /> All of the workers arrived when they said they would and were polite and professional at all times. Doug, who laid all of the tile, is a true artist -- his work is gorgeous!  The crew cleaned up behind themselves as they worked. We never had to vacate our adjacent bedroom during the project and there was never a dumpster in the driveway. <br /> We had one misunderstanding about the style of the shower doors that were to be installed. The header of the shower stall opening is a little out of level but otherwise all of the workmanship is outstanding -- the results are beautiful!  <br /> Expect to pay a premium for this level of quality -- the bid was several thousand dollars higher than the competition and add-ons raised the price even higher.  Before you commit, spend some time in a kitchen/bath showroom like Ferguson to get an advance idea of how much the fixtures you'll want are going to contribute to the overall cost of the project. <br />"

"Beautifully!  The experience and results were beyond our expectations!  From the beginning Bob Stevermer, as general contractor, had every sub-contractor lined up and well-prepped.  He was at our house every day, supervising and trouble shooting as needed.  The custom wood cabinetry is gorgeous- he can problem-solve and think "out of the box", so the result utilizes every space to the best possible use.  He was never too busy to answer our questions and concerns, very patiently and with expertise.  This was our second remodel with Custom Woodcraft (we did two other rooms 9 years ago), and we would use only Bob for future work on any house we own! <br />"

"Redstone provided an estimate for our 2nd floor addition project.  Bob met me promptly after contacting him.  He was both courteous and professional.  He completed an initial assessment and gave a rough estimate.  After following up, we decided to go ahead and have subcontractors in to get a firm estimate and "guaranteed maximum price".  His subs arrived and were all very professional.  There was healthy discussion and a creative process in determining the optimal way to do this project between he and the subs of which I was a participant.  They truly made an effort to discern what it was we wanted for the renovation and what was the optimal way to do this.  Throughout the process, Bob told us that his method was to assume we were going to do everything high end and bring it back if budget did not allow so that there would be no surprises at the end of it.  While I appreciate that aspect, the estimate then came in much higher than we were comfortable with.  While I do not doubt they would do a good job with the project, I felt like the "guaranteed maximum price" was way over what we wanted, and after getting our estimate it was  unclear what the actual cost of doing what we were going to do was - except that it was not going to go over a certain amount (which was way higher than our maximum budget).  I would have rather had a frank discussion of what could be accomplished within our budgetary framework that would have given us a better indication of whether we moved ahead with them. Overall, I appreciated their help with this project and would consider using them for future projects. <br />"

FAQs for sunroom or patio enclosure building service projects in Belle Plaine, MN

A sunroom is a fully enclosed space with walls of windows or glass. It allows you to enjoy the outdoors from the comfort of the indoors, protected from bugs and weather. It functions as an additional room in your home. A covered patio extends your home's roof over an outdoor area, providing shade and shelter while remaining open to the fresh air. It's a great way to enjoy outdoor living while being protected from sun and rain.

Adding screens to your porch is the most budget-friendly way to enclose it. Screening keeps out insects and debris while letting you enjoy the breeze and outdoor ambiance. It's less expensive than installing full walls or glass enclosures and doesn't usually require permits, making it an efficient way to upgrade your porch.

If you're transforming your porch into a fully enclosed living space like a sunroom, you'll likely need a sturdy foundation, such as a reinforced concrete slab, to support the structure. For a simple screened-in porch, you might be able to use the existing floor and support posts without additional foundation work. It's best to consult a professional to determine what's needed for your project.

An enclosed porch can be considered a living space if it's fully enclosed with solid walls and windows, has a proper roof, and includes heating and cooling systems. It should also have direct access from inside your home. When these criteria are met, the space becomes an extension of your home's livable area.
