"I took advantage of the $399 special for 16 man hours of work (8 hours of 2-man work). Steve and his assistant did a very good job of removing the old (peeling and mouldy) wallpaper and spackling and painting the walls and woodwork. They were very up front about the what they would be doing and the cost. The special was just for one day and because the spackle had to dry, they had to come back a second day to do the wall and ceiling painting which cost an additional $340. Even though they did not need the full 16 hours to do the wallpaper removal and the spackling, I used part of that time to have them paint all the cabinets, woodwork around the window and bathroom door. Still, I think it was a good deal. We provided the paint (I bought Behr premium paint since it gets the best reviews on Consumer Reports). They did a clean, professional job including the cleanup and I am very happy with how everything turned out. This was a job I could have done myself, but it would have taken me much longer and these guys did a much better job than I could (this is their profession, after all), so it was worth every penny. And the bathroom looks great!"

"Walls which were in terrible shape now look brand new. Hallway walls were all beat up and had holes from a gate. They fixed it all up and added wall protection and the gate has never worked or looked better. All the workers were extremely nice and so efficient. I had an Angie's list $100 off coupon which I didn't use because the price was already so much lower than other estimates. They finished it all in one day!  Truly a great painting company. I expect a lot and they far over achieved my expectations. "

"I had purchased an Angies List Coupon in May knowing I would have my decke and shutters done this summer. Mr. Kiss came out promptly and gave me an estimate of charges to do the work and a time-frame to do it . in the meantime I got 3 other estimates from more local painting contractors and prices came in about $300 lower. I was in a quandry as how to handle this as I had already purchased the $199 coupon and his price was $300 higher. I called Mr. Kiss and explained the situation that I didnt want to waste the $199 and if he would match the other estimates. He explained to me why his price may be higher with quality, service and customer satisfaction being some of the factors. To my delight he agreed to match the other estimates and I must say his man Robert came out and performed an outstanding job on our deck and shutters and would surely use his company again. I would caution people to get your estimates first before purchasing a coupon so you would not have the same experience as I. <br />"

FAQs for wallcovering or wallpaper removal projects in Boardman, OH

You can determine your wall type through tactile and visual tests. Start by checking the surface by inserting a thumbtack, feeling the texture, tapping to listen for a hollow sound, and examining cut edges under outlet covers. Drywall feels soft with a hollow sound, while plaster is hard and solid. These checks are especially useful in older homes where plaster is more common.

After removing wallpaper, you can dispose of small amounts in your household trash. However, if you are removing wallpaper from your entire home, you’ll need to contact a waste removal service, rent a dumpster, or arrange a special pick-up with your municipality’s waste service. Wallpaper cannot be recycled, so it is important to keep it separate from the recycling stream to comply with local waste guidelines.

It takes a professional from several hours up to a full day to remove wallpaper from a single room. The removal duration depends on the type of adhesive, the age of the wallpaper, the condition of the wall, and the number of layers present. High ceilings and additional layers increase the time required, as extra care is taken to protect the wall surface while ensuring a complete removal.

Using fabric softener with water is an option for removing wallpaper, but its effectiveness is limited and depends on the type of wallpaper being used. This low-cost method is most effective on modern, less porous wallpaper and may not yield optimal results on vintage or textured varieties. It might also affect wall surface preparation for new coverings if the residue is not completely removed. For stubborn adhesive or textured surfaces, professional solutions are recommended to ensure a thorough removal without damaging the underlying wall.
