"This was an extremely difficult job and it took us three months to even find someone brave enough to take it on.   Nathan Drechsler oversaw every part of the job.  He assessed what needed to be done, and got the proper permits, and got the proper engineer to make plans.  He researched what had previously been done in our neighborhood.  He safely removed two structural columns and he ordered the special heavy duty beam that was needed to bear the weight of the ceiling and the house.  He safely went through the fence and put the beam into place, using caution. He matched the stucco and the paint perfectly.  He is a delight to work with .  He is extremely intelligent and uncompromisingly ethical.  He will work with you to get the job done correctly. <br />"

"When we decided to have a sliding glass door installed in our bedroom, we had no idea the depth of work required. Jose Fregoso of Bob Leonard and Associates saw this job through to a perfect completion. From the time Jose came to the house to provide an estimate to the completion of this job, Jose scheduled and ensured all work was completed to our satisfaction, within our schedule and on time. All flooring, paint and stucco was matched perfectly to existing materials. Jose made recommendations on door styles and types and we couldn't be more pleased with the Pella door he recommended. There was a problem with the screen door and Jose worked with Pella to ensure it was replaced. Jose was very professional, responsive, and so easy to work with. All of the employees of Bob Leonard and Associates were professional, and pleasant to work with. <br /> The final measure of quality - you would never know that there was any remodel work done here. It looks like original construction (inside and outside)!"

"what should have been a max 2 hr job took 5 plus hours to complete. I think the gentlemen was a very nice person but I think he may have been a bit over his head. He should have in my opinion had an additional person helping him or someone that was more experienced. Again as a person very nice and pleasant. He really did his best and I do appreciate his efforts, just took an extra long time."

"Keith the painter showed up and gave us an estimate on the house of $1700.00 - that included materials and labor.  He only requested that we trim back our bushes away from the house to make way for painting. He was very helpful in suggesting color ideas on what would look good together (ie. paint matching roof color, trim details etc.).  He only requested that we pay $500 up front - to pay for the materials.  He showed up on-time Wednesday morning and started all the prep work on the house: power spray washing, removing some sparrow nests and he even got rid of a large wasp nest, then started covering the windows and taping off the bricks.  Painting on the front of the house began on Thursday... He had the front of the house completely finished by Friday night so it would look nice for the weekend. <br /> <br /> On Monday he returned and started work on the sides and back of the house (stucco).   He had detailed by patching up some of the stucco that had been cracked or broken, he removed some strange goo off the windows that the previous owners had left behind and he even fixed one of our window screens.  By Tuesday he was finished painting the entire house.  We did a walk around the house to make sure that everything looked fine.  He told us that if we notice anything in the future to give him a call and he will come out and fix what ever we may find wrong with the house.  <br /> <br /> Overall, he charged $1,700 - exactly what his estimate was.  He showed up on time and kept us well informed with what they were working on and what needed to be done.  He's attitude was very kind and professional.  We will definitely hire him again in the future."

"All of the workers were great. I did need to obtain the building permit on my own. There was a mix up at the manufacturer of the backsplash tiles. The box was incorrectly labeled and the wrong tiles were installed. They had to remove the first backsplash they installed and replace it with the correct tiles that had to be reordered. One of the granite pieces had a 15" wide color difference from the rest of the slab, so they gave me a discount. Glad it's finished!"

FAQs for wallcovering or wallpaper removal projects in Modesto, CA

You can determine your wall type through tactile and visual tests. Start by checking the surface by inserting a thumbtack, feeling the texture, tapping to listen for a hollow sound, and examining cut edges under outlet covers. Drywall feels soft with a hollow sound, while plaster is hard and solid. These checks are especially useful in older homes where plaster is more common.

After removing wallpaper, you can dispose of small amounts in your household trash. However, if you are removing wallpaper from your entire home, you’ll need to contact a waste removal service, rent a dumpster, or arrange a special pick-up with your municipality’s waste service. Wallpaper cannot be recycled, so it is important to keep it separate from the recycling stream to comply with local waste guidelines.

It takes a professional from several hours up to a full day to remove wallpaper from a single room. The removal duration depends on the type of adhesive, the age of the wallpaper, the condition of the wall, and the number of layers present. High ceilings and additional layers increase the time required, as extra care is taken to protect the wall surface while ensuring a complete removal.

Using fabric softener with water is an option for removing wallpaper, but its effectiveness is limited and depends on the type of wallpaper being used. This low-cost method is most effective on modern, less porous wallpaper and may not yield optimal results on vintage or textured varieties. It might also affect wall surface preparation for new coverings if the residue is not completely removed. For stubborn adhesive or textured surfaces, professional solutions are recommended to ensure a thorough removal without damaging the underlying wall.
