"They did an amazing job! On time, neat, professional and their painting looks great. All furniture was moved and covered as well as the floors and stairway. I would definitely recommend them!"

"I was overjoyed to find Legacy Painting because I was looking for someone to remove wallpaper and paint. I had had two painters turn down the job because they found out that wallpaper removal was involved. Needless to say, I was overjoyed to meet Amy. She was reliable, extremely hardworking and professional. She did an incredibly immaculate job removing the wallpaper, repairing, priming, and painting the walls in my hallway. She quoted me a price, stuck to it, and got the job done, sometimes working on her own when I had to go out. Since practically my whole house has wallpaper, I will certainly be using her services again. She can definitely be trusted to do a fantastic job! After that project, I hired Amy to refinish my front wooden door which was dry as a bone and mildewed. Again, she did a beautiful job cleaning, sanding, and refinishing the door. She mixed her own stain, consulting with me on the color. I couldn't be happier with the outcome. In addition, for a small additional price, she stained some naughty dog scratches on two other wooden surfaces. I couldn't recommend her more highly."

"I would highly recommend this business.  We had them come and restain the deck and at first just powerwash the house.  They scheduled the work right away.  After doing the pressure washing, there were some areas with paint chips under the soffit.  Mike offered to repaint those for free.  During this, they noticed areas of the soffit that were rotten, so we had them repair those areas of the wood.  They also fixed a few screens that were damaged during the pressure washing for free.
Everything turned out great, and we are very happy we had this work done.  Mike and Crystal are very professional and easy to work with.  I will be having them do some more work on our house in the near future.

"Keith did a great job.  I got 3 bids and his was the most competitive.  It took him and his crew 4 days to complete my 3600 sq. ft. home.  Most of this time he was on his own in my new house since I was moving.  I told him he needed to be complete by the time the furniture arrived.  When the moving truck pulled up, his team was pulling out!  My house looked beautiful and everything was cleaned up and tidy.  He was very honest and trustworthy.  I will hire him again."

"I'm floored and I'm very picky. I had my requirements for them typed up because I didn't want to have a repeat performance of other painters who were unprofessional. They arrived on time with a contract. They were meticulous and methodical. They cleaned areas on the cabinets that had caked-on paint that was years old. I kept saying it was okay to stop because even I wouldn't see it but they continued. I had an old phone removed from a cabinet that seemed like a cool idea but looked stupid. One of the fellows, without prompting, got the right color putty and put it on. I'm still floored at how good they were. We were in a crunch - we want the house to go on the market yesterday. They came through. I'm extremely happy and they were extraordinarily good. Sherwin Williams helped by doing an exact match on 7 year old paint and giving us BC Pro's card (thank you SW). They had the right tools for the job and man, did they do a super duper job. Many thanks, everyone."

FAQs for wallcovering or wallpaper removal projects in Asheville, NC

You can determine your wall type through tactile and visual tests. Start by checking the surface by inserting a thumbtack, feeling the texture, tapping to listen for a hollow sound, and examining cut edges under outlet covers. Drywall feels soft with a hollow sound, while plaster is hard and solid. These checks are especially useful in older homes where plaster is more common.

After removing wallpaper, you can dispose of small amounts in your household trash. However, if you are removing wallpaper from your entire home, you’ll need to contact a waste removal service, rent a dumpster, or arrange a special pick-up with your municipality’s waste service. Wallpaper cannot be recycled, so it is important to keep it separate from the recycling stream to comply with local waste guidelines.

It takes a professional from several hours up to a full day to remove wallpaper from a single room. The removal duration depends on the type of adhesive, the age of the wallpaper, the condition of the wall, and the number of layers present. High ceilings and additional layers increase the time required, as extra care is taken to protect the wall surface while ensuring a complete removal.

Using fabric softener with water is an option for removing wallpaper, but its effectiveness is limited and depends on the type of wallpaper being used. This low-cost method is most effective on modern, less porous wallpaper and may not yield optimal results on vintage or textured varieties. It might also affect wall surface preparation for new coverings if the residue is not completely removed. For stubborn adhesive or textured surfaces, professional solutions are recommended to ensure a thorough removal without damaging the underlying wall.
