"Tess was extremely responsive! He quickly diagnosed my pinhole leaks and repaired them. He had to use a little ingenuity in order to make the repairs, as my pipes lay against a wood ceiling strut. He also located another plumbing issue that I may need to keep my eye on. I would definitely hire him again!"

"Service turned out alright. I liked the plumber, he was very nice and explained things to me so that I could understand.

The only issue was the part they brought was materially different then the part it was replacing. Because of that it didn't fit properly and he ended up having to re do my plumbing situation  to make the part fit. So now my situation looks like a snake when it used to look straight. It took a extra two hours of work, which I wasn't charged for.

They had to come back out because I had a leaking pipe when they were done. I ended up buying a service plan from them."

"Several years back, I called for help and we talked through my problem. We concluded that no water was leaving my house and it was backing up out of a pipe in the basement. In talking through our architecture and location, he determined this was most likely something that could be solved by Baltimore City services (for free). That turned out to be the case. The City workers came out fairly quickly, identified and cleared the clog outside my home, and I paid nothing (outside of my tax returns, of course ... "my tax dollars at work"). Knock You Out could have tried to make some money off of me by saying they needed to come out and look at it, then referring me to the City, and then charging me for their time/truck-roll (while prolonging the entire thing for me). Knock You Out is not cold and unscrupulous. By spending time with me on the phone, but doing no work here and making nothing from it, they proved themselves to be honest and decent people. And that may be the main thing we shop for in home services."

"Glenoak came out to reinstall a toilet that had been leaking .  While there, they noticed a leak from the pressure tank, which needed to be replaced.  They went out for the part w/o charging us for that time or travel.  Unfortunately, the replacement part didn?t work, and ultimately they had to replace the entire toilet.  They fixed a small gas pipe leak near our furnace while there, too.

Very professional, punctual, and competent.

"He came to fix toilet.  He checked the septic tank also to see if it was a problem.  I asked him about a leak in a pipe that had existed a long time.  He gave me a price and fixed it right away.  I was glad he was able to do that so it didn't require another appointment.

"Very accommodating, arrived quickly and got the work done-- replaced burst copper pipe in half bath with plastic as we were told that (still) freezes over (but bursts somewhat) less easily. Drywall repair not included. Pipe should probably have been longer as was difficult to put back and patch up. Did not leave us with cover for where the new pipe comes from the wall. They got the repairs done quickly, which made us happy, but they did not do a 'neat' finish. Also, worker left some tools behind and never picked up despite that I called them."

Dean replaced both hose bibs in the front and rear of my home with two new internal cut off valves and external valves.  They have been leaking for some time.  At first, Dean thought the job would be a little more involved [and cost more], but his expertise allowed him to replace the valves without having to perform additional work or cut out more of the ceiling and honor his orginal quote.  He did a great job and his apprentice was very polite and knowledgeable.  They kept the work areas covered with a tarp and everything was clean at the end of the job.  Well done!  If you have plumbing needs, I recommend using Dean!

Extra note.  I always hear how plumbers are so expensive.  Dean was at our house today for a little over two hours.  Keep in mind they have to pay for their equipment, vehicles, insurance, travel time, supplies used on the job, salaries of employees, and other expenses to run a company.  Not to mention you're getting years of experience to perform a job I would surely screw up or take weeks to finish.  I can do a lot of things in my home, but when it comes to complicated plumbing, leave it to the professionals and support small businesses.

FAQs for gas piping projects in Boring, MD

Plumbers with proper licensing and credentials install and relocate gas lines. When hiring a professional, verify they have experience with gas systems and all required certifications. Some homeowners choose to work with plumbers specializing in natural gas installations, as they have extensive experience with similar projects and understand the safety requirements.

The timeline for gas line relocation varies based on project complexity, permit processing, and inspection scheduling. The physical labor takes a few hours to one day, depending on the line length. However, the actual installation work represents only part of the overall project timeline. Your contractor should provide a specific timeframe based on your circumstances and local permitting requirements.

Your gas supply must be shut off during the relocation process. This safety measure prevents gas leaks while connections are being modified. Plan for this temporary service interruption by making alternative arrangements for cooking, heating, or other gas-dependent systems in your home. The shut-off generally only lasts for a portion of the work, often a few hours.

Relocating gas lines to connect new appliances is a common reason for this type of project. Whether you're installing a gas stove, fireplace, dryer, or outdoor grill, a professional can determine the best route for extending your existing gas system. The cost will depend on the distance between your current gas line and the new appliance location.

Gas line work is not suitable for DIY projects. Natural gas is highly flammable and potentially lethal if not handled correctly. Gas leaks can be difficult to detect without specialized equipment. Professional plumbers have the proper training, tools, and experience to safely relocate gas lines while ensuring compliance with local building codes and safety standards.
