"Exceptional service!! I got a call in advance, explaining the Covid-19 protocol and how the visit would work. Service technician, "Bobby 102" arrived on time, wearing face covering as discussed. He was super polite! Brought in his equipment (including floor/rug covering), accurately described the scope of the job and estimated timing. He worked quietly and efficiently while here and explained what he discovered at the end of his work. We were able to ask questions and got very clear and direct answers including what maintenance might be required down the road. We gave him a check on the spot and he was off to his next customer. "We'd been using our fireplace successfully for years, but last winter, things got really smokey, so we had to quit using it. Before this coming winter, I really wanted to get it checked out, since the fireplace is my favorite feature of our house, and I love a nice fire on a wintery night. I was afraid there was a bird's nest blocking the chimney or something. And a creosote log didn't work at all. 

The guys from 5 Star showed up on time, moved furniture, and laid down blankets to protect my carpet. Then they inspected the fireplace and chimney really professionally. They said it was safe, just really dirty. So they put their big vacuum cleaner brush to work and had so much dirt coming down, I was amazed. They cleaned it all up, worked really fast and efficiently, and before I knew it, they were done. They even gave me some bricks to prop the fireplace grate up higher and give us a better draft for the smoke. AND they cleaned the smoke residue off the paint on the front of the fireplace that had made us stop using it. I wasn't expecting that at all. 

Wonderful, fast work for a very reasonable price. We rent, so I was a bit worried about spending the money, but I'd do it again in a heartbeat."

"I hired Chimney Chaps to clean and inspect my chimney and give me a quote to repair what damage they might have found. The cleaned it and later did the repairs and upgrades (chain operated cap). The price was more than fair, the work looks great, and they left no mess behind. I recommend them. Very easy to work with them, as well."

"I learned that the flues did not need cleaning, but that there was about 4 feet of flue lining that was missing from the top of the chimney--there are ceramic tiles in there and for whatever reason, 4 ft were missing from the top. They replaced this with a liquid/concrete/solidifying material to seal/line the flues"

"Our chimney needed to be rebuilt from the roof up. We called Carl for an estimate and he sent someone out who gave a free verbal estimate of $1300.00. We scheduled the work and were told they would come out to do the project as soon as they could, as there were other projects ahead of us. The work was completed during three consecutive days by the same gentleman who came out the first time to give the verbal estimate. On the third day, when the work was completed, Carl's worker stated he would be collecting a check from us that day. He then asked what we were quoted on the formal estimate from the company. This came as a complete surprise to us as the only estimate we had ever received was the free, verbal estimate when he first visited our home. He then told my husband he was under the impression the total for the work came to $1800.00 and then he called Carl to confirm. Because of the miscommunication, Carl agreed to charge us $1350.00. This was a positive aspect in our dealings with the company, although they could have been more communicative and clear regarding a formal estimate in the first place. After the work was done, we noticed a lot of debris on our roof, including broken bricks and mortar from the old chimney. We also noticed that a large piece of mortar/cement had been left under our back deck as well as had been spread over parts of our foundation. We are assuming this was extra and the worker was trying to dispose of it. We also never received a receipt for the work. We should have asked for one when we gave him the check, but we were going out of town and were in a rush. Therefore, my husband called Carl multiple times the next week. Carl never answered his phone and his voicemail box was full every single time. My husband also sent an e-mail to the address listed on the company's website, detailing our concerns: 1) no receipt, 2) debris on the roof, and 3) a free cleaning of the chimney which had been part of a verbal agreement -- and my husband never heard back. Due to their unresponsiveness and the mess that was left at our home, we have given up on contacting this company and will be using a different company for any further chimney repairs or cleanings in the future."
