"We have been using A Clean Sweep for over 20 years and always received great service.  This time we scheduled online but had to wait a few weeks for an appointment because they are very busy at this time of year.  The day of the appointment, the technician called to notify that he was running a few minutes late, then showed up exactly when he said he would.  He was extremely professional, knowledgeable, and courteous.  He explained every step of the inspection and cleaning, and did a very thorough job.  He explained every observation that he made during the inspection and certified that our fireplace and flue were in good condition and safe to continue operating.

"Thank you Carolina Chimney, vent & Ladder Comp. for adding me to your schedule. At the time of my call no one had any time open for 2 month. Carolina Chimney said to me "we will take care if you even if we have to work on Sunday." I just want to say to all - if you are in need of cleaning and an inspection, this is the company you need to call."

"He let me know that the chimney didn't need to be cleaned and also let me know how much Chimney cap and insert would cost. He told me both fireplaces were working and ready to burn wood."

"Install was easy. Up front cost was pretty low with Angie's List coupon. Monthly price is a little high compared to competing companies. Response time with alarms is excellent. I was advised to use glass break alarms within 10 ft of my first floor windows, which we installed correctly. I asked prior to installation if having one in the kitchen would cause false alarms due to dishes clanging, etc. I was told the glass break alarms are configured to a precise frequency that alarms with breaking glass. So, not a "no", but not really an answer. Well, every time we cook dinner, wash dishes or empty the dish washer, the kitchen glass break alarm gives a warning which would sound the alarm if it was set. This has caused us a number of false alarms while we've been away due to shifting bowls or plates in our drying rack. For the first several we've had to pay our police department $120 to check the house, and I was only notified after the first alarm that there was a cheaper option for a security company to drive by to check for a break in."

"This company was referred to me by another contractor. This was my 1st time using them. I called and set up an appt. easily. My plumber " Paul", called 30 mins before he arrived. He showed up on time and completed work in a timely fashion. He checked my shower and issues in all bathrooms and in the crawlspace. I appreciated him taking pics of all the problems and pics p repairs done. He was very knowledgeable and explained everything that needed to be done before work was done and then wrote up an estimate. I am in an older home and explained the type of pipes I had in other areas would need to be replaced eventually and is to send me a quote for this to be done later. No mess left behind. I am very pleased with this service and just texted my sister to call them for commode replacement. Thank you so much, Paul, for your professionalism, honesty, and kindness. I will use in the future."

FAQs for chimney or fireplace service projects in Charlotte, NC

Level one inspections take up to one hour and involve a thorough visual examination of the inner surfaces of your chimney. Level two inspections take about two hours and go beyond that with a look from the bottom to top to see if there’s any damage. Level three inspections can take days since they require the removal of building materials to assess severe damage.

A chimney inspection performed during a home inspection is a limited review that only highlights visible issues on the interior and exterior surfaces of your fireplace and chimney. This brief check does not cover in-depth structural or hidden defects. If there are concerns about chimney integrity or safety, a dedicated chimney inspection by a specialist is essential to identify significant problems.

Regular maintenance and cleaning of your chimney are important and must be performed at least once every year. Proper cleaning removes dangerous creosote and soot buildup that can cause fires and expose your home to harmful carbon monoxide. If you use your fireplace often, scheduling additional cleanings is necessary to maintain safety. Hiring a professional inspector ensures that every part of your chimney is thoroughly inspected and cleaned, preserving its performance and protecting your home.
