"Tim (owner) Bryan (technician) were excellent. House was over 100 years old and has two fireplaces. Much work but all done with detail and very professional. Additional problems found but handled quickly. Numerous quotes received and this was also the best value."

"The lower grades Jeff (owner) has received surprise me.  Chimney Dr was the fourth of four bids we were going to get on fixing our leak.  Three of four companies all "found" different leaks, and the last company just estimated EVERYTHING.  High estimate was $3,000.00 including a separate interior drywall repair estimate we were not asking for .... but that guy didn't have a ladder tall enough to get to the roof, anyway.  Jeff was the only person to actually water-leak test to confirm the source(s) of the leak(s).   He showed up on time for his first visit, phoned that he was running a bit late for his second visit  (he was actually working on one of my neighbors chimney, who is also completely satisfied with Jeff's work) and then phoned ahead three days later once he had the parts needed to complete the repair.  Our chimney was fixed that same morning.  Since then, we have had two  very hard rain storms the last two days, and not a drop of rain inside.  I will say that Jeff is a very busy man working long hours, and appears to be a one-man operation.  We could have spent over $1,000.00 on repairs that would not have stopped our leak at all, or paid far more for the same plus 'other needed work'.  The fact is, we only had one leak; not two or three.  And if we hadn't called The Chimney Doctor, we would have just burned cash.  Thanks again for all your help and GREAT service, Jeff!"

"They were able to schedule a technician (Hunter) for same day. He checked out the gas fireplace and vent outside. He was able to clean the igniter and some other parts and made our fireplace turn on much quicker than it has in years past. He also mentioned that it should not shut off anymore due to his cleaning. Not a lot of time has passed since he left the house, but it seems like it's all good! We also opted to have the full service/cleaning which was $199 and he only charged $99 because we don't have a full chimney pipe. So that was pleasantly surprising."

"Install was easy. Up front cost was pretty low with Angie's List coupon. Monthly price is a little high compared to competing companies. Response time with alarms is excellent. I was advised to use glass break alarms within 10 ft of my first floor windows, which we installed correctly. I asked prior to installation if having one in the kitchen would cause false alarms due to dishes clanging, etc. I was told the glass break alarms are configured to a precise frequency that alarms with breaking glass. So, not a "no", but not really an answer. Well, every time we cook dinner, wash dishes or empty the dish washer, the kitchen glass break alarm gives a warning which would sound the alarm if it was set. This has caused us a number of false alarms while we've been away due to shifting bowls or plates in our drying rack. For the first several we've had to pay our police department $120 to check the house, and I was only notified after the first alarm that there was a cheaper option for a security company to drive by to check for a break in."

"I bought the Angies List big deal for an inspection and sweeping of our chimney. I had to contact them to schedule the date vs waiting for them to call as the deal stated, but once that was done, they were here within a week. It took less than an hour as our chimney looked good and was fairly clean (gas logs) and the sweep gave us good suggestions to keep an eye on. I would recommend this company."

FAQs for chimney or fireplace service projects in Indianapolis, IN

Level one inspections take up to one hour and involve a thorough visual examination of the inner surfaces of your chimney. Level two inspections take about two hours and go beyond that with a look from the bottom to top to see if there’s any damage. Level three inspections can take days since they require the removal of building materials to assess severe damage.

A chimney inspection performed during a home inspection is a limited review that only highlights visible issues on the interior and exterior surfaces of your fireplace and chimney. This brief check does not cover in-depth structural or hidden defects. If there are concerns about chimney integrity or safety, a dedicated chimney inspection by a specialist is essential to identify significant problems.

Regular maintenance and cleaning of your chimney are important and must be performed at least once every year. Proper cleaning removes dangerous creosote and soot buildup that can cause fires and expose your home to harmful carbon monoxide. If you use your fireplace often, scheduling additional cleanings is necessary to maintain safety. Hiring a professional inspector ensures that every part of your chimney is thoroughly inspected and cleaned, preserving its performance and protecting your home.
