Once we selected the stone, Jamie made a site visit to measure the fireplace and walk us through the process. From the day we signed the contract to the date of the install, he was prompt and courteous. The mason crew Jamie works with, were prompt, courteous and did outstanding work. We couldn’t be happier with the finished project. The fireplace is a now beautiful focal point in our living room. I would highly recommend Fireside Hearth and Home. "Work is basically ok but terrible communication and rather messy, including coming home to find the work crew having taken over my garage as work space without letting me know and leaving a mess for me to clean up. Owner didn’t seem to care and was not communicative of additional costs incurred. I would not recommend."

"In 2017, when I was looking to purchase a house in the Rockford area that was needing a full siding install I contacted GF Company in Belvidere. IL, who I found on Angie’s list and at that time GF Co had great reviews. Strangely enough these great reviews are no longer to be found on Angie’s List. It should also be noted there is a GF Siding in Cherry Valley. IL, this is Not the company that I did business with. Ariel Zmijewski (the owner) got me a quote quickly and I decided to purchase the house. A few months later in July 2017, I contacted Ariel again to discuss the finer points of the quote, the price was revised slightly and the Ariel mentioned that once a deposit was paid work could start 6-8 weeks later, but said the install would be finished before the cold weather arrived. I started creating a color layout and Ariel provided some feedback on what would work and not work. To this point I was very happy with progress. In September 2017 I paid a deposit of over $8k (about 44% of final price) and awaited updates for a start date. Nothing happened. In early March 2018 I contacted GF Co by phone stating that I had been very patient and they had had $8k as a deposit for the last 6 months and I had nothing to show for it. After a couple more calls and emails Ariel showed up with his foreman Mark and they said that work would start in the middle of the following week. Much to my surprise the work started on time. Over the course of the next 4 weeks Mark and his crew worked hard, only missing a few days due to bad weather, I even agreed to having some extra work done by the team, some wooden entrance steps that needed replacing for an additional $2.5k. By early May 2018 the job was finished the house looked great and I was very happy with the work and appearance and was getting compliments from neighbors too. The balance of owed of over $10k was paid with 48 hours of the work being finished. Again I was happy with work done, until… A few months after the install a TV cable box started having troubles. Cut a long story short the wall socket died because cable was suddenly defective, also the crew had moved the exterior cable input box and this didn’t help the issue. Comcast fixed it, but I now have an exterior cable showing and they had to drill through the siding. Then around Halloween 2018, less than six months after having the install completed, I noticed that a piece of siding (6ft approx.) had become detached underneath a window, trying to pop it back into place did not resolve the issue. After checking all the other exterior windows I noticed 1 other window was about to do the same thing. I called the GF Company main number and left a message with the receptionist for Ariel to contact me. No response. I called again a couple of times and left more messages still no response. In March 2019 siding problem under windows still Not fixed, I called GF Company again, no answer, and no voice mail. I called a couple more times on different days still no answer or voice mail. I then sent an email to the company and to my surprise I received a response from Ariel stating this was the first that he had heard of it. About a week later (3/26/19) he showed up at my house to view the problem. Ariel stated that he would get someone over to fix the problem, but would not give me a date or time. On 4/2/19 I emailed Ariel again asking for confirmation of a repair date ? Nothing but crickets… On 4/30/19, I sent another email to Ariel requesting that the repairs be completed before the end of May 2019, again no response. Quote / contract says: Customers will receive a Lifetime Warranty on Material and Workmanship Reported GF Company to Illinois BBB on 6/5/19."

"We are undertaking an extensive exterior renovation of our c.1927 Tudor Revival and badly needed masonry restoration represented Phase I.
This was our first experience with a provider found on Angie's List and we were very pleased. I received a very prompt response to my initial request for an estimate and in comparison to other quotes we obtained, A O Handy was most in line with the extent of restoration we felt necessary as well as within our budget.
The work began within a few days of our having signed the contract and continued daily until completion. I was especially impressed with the crew's punctuality and how respectful they were of the jobsite. They tidied up  the work area everyday before they left.
I was also impressed by how well they were able to match the color of the new mortar to that contained within the existing grout lines. They also cleaned up the unsightly repairs where the previous homeowner had attempted to repoint sections of the brickwork himself years ago.
In summary, if you're looking for quality, old world craftmanship, I would strongly recommend AO Handy. It truly was a pleasure dealing with Andy, his son Arthur and the rest of the crew.
I am hoping the next phases of our exterior renovation go as well as the masonry restoration did.

"Abner and his team were a pleasure to work with. They added a concrete pad to our existing concrete patio and did a great job. "The project went very well. Kirt said they could start in 2 days and would be done in 3-4 day.  Kirt and his partner started early in the morning and finished the deck project in 3 days.  They had to work around some rainy moments, but came back to the project as soon as the rain stopped.  Kirt asked us what we wanted in a deck and followed through with all of our requests.  We even made a change early into the project and Kirt was more than happy to listen to my wife and I and make the changes.  He quoted us a price before the project started and that is the price we paid in the end.  We got other estimates for this deck project and Kirt Johnson came in the as one of the lowest.  He did not sacrifice quality with this project.  We are looking to have more projects done around the house in the near future and will call Kirt Johnson to complete the projects.

"HBC completed a re-siding of an existing shed. There was excellent communication from Cain of HBC. He contacted me soon after I placed my work request on Angie's. He was out to review the job within a few days, and I had a written estimate the next day. Work on our shed started the next week. Cal would text to let me know the arrival time of the crew. The HBC crew worked throughout 2 days to complete the job. The job site was cleaned up before they left. The shed looks great!"

"I hired F7 to fix my about-to-fall-down cedar fence. I didn’t want to replace it; I liked the weathered look and the only thing rotten was the 20+ year old posts. The same team that estimated my project performed the work, which I liked a lot. They did a great job with minimal damage to my yard (if any). They were creative in maximizing reuse of the original boards, and only replaced what was necessary with new materials. They were friendly and offered great communication. I would hire them again."
