"The garage door manufacturer required a $2500 deposit and was involved with the garage remodel starting June 2013 regarding measuring the openings while framing/stucco/drywall was in progress. We did request a vertical V grooved exterior appearance.
Manufacturing and Install:
The doors they manufactured and brought to the home were a manufactured paint-grade manufactured wood doors, looked VERY heavy & bulky (qualities we had never requested)  otherwise nothing special from the outside. The windows were single-pane.When they installed them I noted that the doors did not seal around all the edges equally, leaving gaps (1/2-3/4") along an area of the side/top of the doors, that will allow for small rodents or leaf blower projected debris to enter the garage readily. Elk Grove Overhead Doors made some adjustments, then blamed the situation on the stucco/framing and stated it is the best they could do, leaving me with uneven significant gaps around both doors.
Now after the initial rain exposure ( moisture only since they are protected by an eave)  it ALSO appears the exterior surface of the doors is starting to have blister-like but deep bubbles ( I would guess delaminations of the manufactured wood product) in several small areas, and the wood appears to be delaminating (flaking superficial layers at several of the V-grooves.
Openers and door function:
When they attached the openers my wife and I were alarmed how loud and 'clunky' the doors/openers were! Sounds like a castle draw-bridge being retracted with big chains. Since our garage doors are near our neighbor's master bedroom we had erroneously expected the new doors to be less noisy than the older doors we had. They installed chain drives ( instead of belt drives) which they stated they needed to use because of the heaviness of the doors. They stated most of the noise was the chain drive.Again, we never asked for  heavy doors. It appears as if  the doors are striking the middle rail when initially opening though they assured us it only looked that way. I was dismayed that these type of details were not worked out on paper before manufacturing and install since they were involved early in the garage remodel.
The wheels in the tracks intermittently squeal and sound as if they are not properly riding in the rails.
Corrective actions:
 
Initially after install and before full payment was made Elk Grove Overhead Door came back and "adjusted" the doors assuring us that they were fine and were not striking the railing and that they were not responsible for the door and wall leaving gaps.  Since they were been paid in full, they responded to my telephone call and promised to come out and take a look what they could do to make us satisfied with their product. They were a no-show for that appointment; since then I have made several telephone calls to John with our concerns and dissatisfaction with the doors and the noisy functioning; he has been apologetic and verbally responsive with promises that they would call me back the following day or week to set up a time to come out to make things right.  Several excuses later, (only after I called them and reminded them they had not called back to schedule repairs as they had promised) and 7 months after installation and payment we have new noisy doors that don't seal, sound like they are breaking/not functioning right and now the material they are made out of appears to be blistering and flaking. Wondering how soon I will need to replace the opener or door??
Nice polite people, but I would avoid Elk Grove Overhead Door at any price; my opinion is the new acquired headaches and expenses that come with the doors are not worth it.

I let my neighbor know I was interested in turning my dingy, overcrowded garage into a maker shop space for electronics projects and 3d printing. My garage floor had 25 years of wear on it by a previous owner who likely serviced and removed engines inside it. There were severe oil stains and gouges from impact along with many cracks from natural foundation settling. I needed a clean work space and still have the storage functionality of a garage. My wife wanted a craft and hobby space of her own for woodwork and sewing. We both agreed, the key to this was the flooring.

My neighbor used his Angie's List account to make a short-list of contractors for me. I'm glad I did that because this led me to Mark at Garage Experts. I contacted him and we set up an appointment to review my options and provide a quote. He's obviously a pretty busy business operation with large commercial contracts-but, he still treated me as if my business was just as important. I had expressed that I wanted an epoxy floor for my 25 year old garage floor. I was surprised when he advised against it and explained to me some of the newer technologies available. He also explained the work that was involved in removing a significant amount of the existing floor surface to insure longevity, adhesion and quality. I was a little skeptical, especially as I thought the price seemed a little lower than what I was expecting. I did some research and I started to learn why a polyaspartic coating was superior to epoxy. I called him back and we narrowed down the time window for the installation. I was surprised he was going to be available during a Thanksgiving week. We later worked out what color options I wanted and, guys, if you're reading this, insist on your wife being there for this part! With the color options set, I had my work cut out to remove all of the contents of my garage over the next two weeks. That was a lot of work but well worth it.

Fast forward to Thanksgiving week, installation day finally arrived and the garage is empty of virtually everything. A two person crew shows up in the morning and begins work at about 8AM. They spent the entire morning prepping the surface and removing the top few mills using some impressive heavy equipment that must have cost a fortune. The floor almost looked freshly poured at this point. Then they began laying down the base coat and the floor looked beautiful and clean. In the mid afternoon I checked on their progress as I tried to not make the guys too uncomfortable with being overly supervised. The crew, by the way, were friendly and explained the whole process to me in depth. By this time they were spreading the color flakes and which started to give the space a feel for what the final outcome would look like. By about 4PM, the crew began applying the top coating which sealed in the flakes and the floor was shining brilliantly. It was an amazing transformation-but, I would have to wait at least 24 hrs before I could actually go in and really check it out. The crew cleaned up and finally left about 6PM and I made sure to tip them appropriately. Word of caution here, during the curing of the top coat, there was some significant off-gassing. It was bad enough for me to use the house fan to force fresh air into the upstairs room where the odor was accumulating and making me feel a little loopy.

The garage floor was stunning beautiful. Incredible transformation. The settling cracks and gouges were gone or filled in nicely. The floor had a uniform appearance and I was in awe at how clean it looked and felt now. Mark came personally to review the workmanship of his crew and answered all of my questions. 

Its now two months since the installation. I love it. My wife loves it. It has an incredible aesthetic quality to it that  it did not have before. The garage is now a functional workshop and maker space and I spend the majority of my hobby/leisure time in there now!
