"The job went very well and they did some extra work to enhance the project with no additional charges. I would definitely use them again. My only concern and it is VERY minor, is the re-installation of sod after they completed the work. Some areas took a while to fill in and thicken to previous conditions however at this time everything looks great! The system works better than expected and I do not have any standing water or soggy areas with their drainage. Their price was very good and well worth it!"

"We had a small kitchen fire on 12/14/18 with mostly smoke damage in our 101 year-old house. After a few weeks of dealing with clean-up, repair estimates, and a couple of sub-par insurance company-listed repair contractors, we contacted Sherrill. He and his son Ian came by promptly and after some discussion we decided to go ahead and re-model the kitchen (which we had planned to do in a few years anyway). They are super to work with and a family-run business that truly cares about quality craftsmanship, and it shows. The plan Sherrill drew up perfectly matched the classic look of our old home with new quality cabinetry, walls, ceiling, flooring, moving our sink, and required electrical upgrades. During the process of tearing out the old wall coverings, additional smoke and soot damage was found and Sherrill negotiated and got additional repairs approved with our insurance adjuster quickly, which required complete removal of the old beadboard smoke-damage walls and ceiling. All the old framing was sprayed and soot-sealed carefully, and insulation was replaced/added to eliminate the possibility of any smoke odors from the fire returning later. Sherrill, Ian, and Ryan did a fantastic job with all aspects of the demolition, construction, cabinet assembly/installation, new flooring & beadboard ceiling, new appliance installation, hauling off old debris, etc., and took great care to protect other areas of the house. They also ran into quite a few other issues with the old-style construction, including removing an old corner chimney, repairing the surrounding floor and part of a large rotting floor beam, and some minor framing upgrades. The sub-contractors Sherrill uses (in our case electrical, plumbing, painting, & granite countertop installation) are also top-notch, and were scheduled appropriately and at the right times during the process. We truly love our new kitchen, and the fact that it will add value to our home."

"It's very clear that Keith cares about the work he and his crew does. We had a lot of repointing work needed on our house due to deteriorating mortar (the entire top of a 40 foot retaining wall, 4 sets of brick stairs, and other miscellaneous spots around the perimeter of the house). My two biggest concerns going into this project were making sure the new mortar matched the old and that the new mortar stayed off the front of the bricks. Keith and his crew meticulously repointed everything so that the mortar matches very close and the bricks are clean. They definitely exceeded my expectations and I appreciate the amount of time and care taken to do a great job. Keith is responsive, diligent, thorough, careful, and caring about the work he does. He is incredibly knowledgeable and is happy to give advice regarding your masonry. Even if he has a number of jobs lined up after yours, he will take the time to do yours right instead of rushing out as fast as possible to the next big gig. We have some more masonry projects we plan to do, and Keith will be our man. Thank you, Keith."

FAQs for brick or stone siding: install or completely replace projects in Burlington, NC

Brick siding offers numerous advantages, including high durability and resistance to harsh weather conditions, requiring minimal maintenance and lasting for generations. It provides natural insulation, enhancing energy efficiency by regulating indoor temperatures year-round. Brick is fire-resistant, improving home safety, and reduces external noise for a quieter indoor environment. Its timeless aesthetic appeal boosts curb appeal and can increase your home's resale value.

Yes, you can add brick to an existing house. One option is to remove the current siding and install full brick masonry, which involves laying traditional bricks with mortar for a solid brick exterior. Alternatively, you can opt for brick veneer siding, a thinner layer of real or manufactured brick applied over the existing structure. Brick veneer is typically more affordable and easier to install while still providing the aesthetic benefits of brick. Both methods can enhance your home's appearance and value.

Yes, installing brick siding often provides a significant return on investment. With an average ROI of around 77%, and some returns exceeding 80%, brick siding enhances curb appeal, energy efficiency, and longevity, making your home more attractive to potential buyers and potentially increasing resale value.

Brick siding is known for its exceptional longevity, often lasting over 100 years when properly maintained. Regular maintenance, like repointing mortar joints, ensures its durability over time. Brick veneer, while thinner than full brick masonry, is durable and can last up to 50 years or more with proper care. Both options offer long-lasting protection and value for your home.

When choosing brick siding, consider your budget, as costs can vary depending on brick type and installation method. Also, consider your desired aesthetic; different bricks offer various colors, textures, and styles to complement your home's architecture. Installation time and complexity are factors, with options like brick veneer being quicker and less labor-intensive than full brick masonry. Additionally, assess the maintenance requirements and durability to select the best option for your long-term needs.

Alternatives to brick siding include vinyl siding, which is cost-effective and low-maintenance and offers a variety of colors and styles. Wood siding provides a natural, classic look but requires more upkeep to prevent weather damage. Fiber cement siding is durable and can mimic the appearance of wood or masonry without the high maintenance. Each alternative has its own advantages, so consider factors like budget, aesthetics, and maintenance when making your choice.
