"Jim had to put in a new copper run from the existing water line through the house, just above the foundation, and outside to where the new sprinkler system manifold would be located.  He installed a vacuum valve to prevent backflow from the sprinkler system into the water line, per city ordinance.
He was able to run the line through the wall of the house instead of the cement foundation.  This was a cost savings on labor.  It took him about 4 hours of actual on-site work to complete the install.  He worked on a couple of very hot (90 plus degrees) days.

"Called about leak Sunday morning. Plumber came out Monday, determined it needed replacement and notified Choice, who approved claim and permitted plumber to order new water heater. Thursday new water heater was installed. Was kept updated every day by both Choice and the plumber. Workers left my garage clean and I have hot water. Very satisfied and have recommended Choice Home Warranty on the Nextdoor app."

"From a distance the bathroom looks beautiful.  However, there are a number of things that seem substandard, some of which they fixed, some of which I fixed, and some we have to live with.

Things we have to live with:

1) Tile on shower floor is noticeably wavy (e.g., water flowing down the shower wall takes a somewhat meandering-stream path to the shower drain).  The contractor said all his floors turn out this way, and that this is the way they look in showrooms.  A home-builder friend said this was definitely substandard for the price.  Now I just try to imagine that I'm in some Tuscan villa every time I take a shower.

2) The sink faucet drain plug is hard to access (e.g., requires two hands) because there is not enough room behind the fixture.  The contractor told me he sees this problem all the time with some fixtures on this vanity.  Why didn't he give me a heads up when I was shopping for fixtures, or before he installed it?

3) There is a spot on the shower floor, right next to the drain, that is lower than the drain (causing a ~2-inch puddle that remains after a shower).

Things they came back and fixed:

1) Recessed shelves installed in the shower sloped to the back, causing water to pool at the back (i.e., a marble wouldn't roll out, but would immediately and quickly roll to the back).

2) A light switch installed right next to another was 1/2 inch lower than than that one next to it.

3) The towel rack they installed was shorter than the one they replaced (only able to hold one towel rather than two).

4) More caulk needed around the shower floor, and a tile or two on the floor had sloppy grout work.

5) The bull nose they chose for a shelf in the shower was definitely not something we wanted (nor asked for)

Things we had to fix:

1) On first use, it became apparent that not only was the shower head not vertically aligned with the shower-faucet handle (see photo), but also neither of these were aligned horizontally with respect to shower standing room (e.g., to have water spraying on the center of my neck, one side of my body had to be touching the wall.  I went to the hardware store an bought a couple brass pipe fixtures to move the head over horizontally (see photos)

2) There was a hole in the caulk right at the top of the shower-handle fixture, perfectly aligned for water to flow behind the tile (my home-builder friend found this one).  I bought some caulk and filled it, plus a few other places that needed some additional caulk.

3) We were left with dust all over both our master bedroom and garage.  A simple heads up would have allowed us to remove linens and cover electronics and power equipment.  Now every time I move something in the garage I'm greeted with a puff of porcelain dust in my face (not healthy).

4) We have a heater pipe going into the floor next to the shower entry, right where kids will cause water to pool when they get out of the shower.  The holes going into the floor here were never filled with anything (see photo), so now I have another caulking project later today (or I'll get water damage in the ceiling above our dining room table).

5) There were a number of other smaller things I won't bother to describe, but you might see them yourself among the photos attached."

"Tim Olives and his son Orion did an excellent job replacing and installing my new water heater! Tim explained the process in significant detail and with great patience to insure my full understanding. He and his son worked long and hard, and they did an exceptional job at a reasonable price! I will use this company for future plumbing needs, and I highly recommend Tim's company to others! I am extremely happy with his work! Thank you so much, Tim!"

"Well, the first time the replacement was ordered it was the wrong one, which of course, delayed the installation a week. When it was finally installed I had to pay an additional $850 for code upgrades. This I was not informed of by Home Shield. Then we noticed that there was water on the garage floor and found that the pipe coming in from the wall was leaking at the wall so had to call the plumbing company back out to fix it. They first tried to say it was not their fault but since there wasn't a leak before they installed they did fix it. I have used Home Shield a few times before and never had a problem. Some of the companies they use are not the best so you have to research them before you commit. I have found HS service to be good if you do your homework. At the end of the day I was without hot water for almost 3 weeks but it was do to the plumbing company they sent out."

FAQs for water main install, replace or repair projects in Burns, WY

If you notice puddles or standing water in your yard, a sudden drop in water pressure, cracks forming in your foundation, frequent clogs in your plumbing fixtures, or water that looks or smells unusual, you might have a leak in your main water line. These signs mean it's time to call a professional to evaluate the issue and prevent further damage.

A professional water main inspection is a comprehensive evaluation performed by a licensed plumber who checks every section of your plumbing system. The inspection costs $165 and uses advanced diagnostic techniques to identify hidden leaks or wear. This service clarifies the exact condition of your water main, enabling precise repairs that prevent future damage and ensure the overall health of your plumbing system.

Protect your water main by scheduling a cleaning and inspection every two to five years. The average cost of a sewer line cleaning is $400. It’s also important to never dig in your yard without first calling the dig line (811) to ensure you don't accidentally hit the water or sewer lines. Watch for soil erosion, low water pressure, or wet spots in your yard, and take immediate action if you suspect a leak. Remember, the longer you leave it, the worse the problem gets and the more costly it is to fix.

When properly maintained, your water main is engineered to remain functional for 50 years or longer. A durable water service in excellent condition should consistently perform without major issues for half a century. In contrast, metal pipes exposed to acidic soil corrode faster, whereas modern plastic pipes resist corrosion and function for decades beyond metal alternatives. Regular maintenance and inspections are essential for confirming your system’s longevity.

No, homeowners insurance does not cover the cost to repair a water main. Insurers fund only sudden, unforeseen events like a burst pipe and exclude gradual issues or normal wear and tear. Damage resulting from leaks, such as mold remediation or property claims, is not covered. It is essential to contact your insurance provider immediately to confirm your policy’s details and any potential adjustments needed.
