Emergency services offered

"Ron, the owner/operator of Patriot Pool Service, is the most responsive service provider with whom I have ever worked. He never fails to answer and/or return my calls and has made himself readily available to assist with emergency issues with my pool equipment regardless of the day or time. His pool service is so much more than just a cleaning and chemical service. He is factory trained and attends in person courses to remain up to date on the latest pool/pump repair techniques. Ron has saved me a significant amount of money because of his in-depth knowledge of pool equipment by doing simple, inexpensive repairs or in some case, just an adjustment, to fix the problem. Your average pool service would take the quick, easy route and just replace parts unnecessarily, which has happened to me in the past. I can unequivocally state that Patriot Pool Service is the most professionally run pool service I have used in my 40+ years of pool ownership in Austin and the DFW Metroplex."

", and thought a The extended power outage from the Big Freeze of 2013 kept our pool pump from running, which caused our secondary pool pump to freeze and blow out it's seal.  I called 1st Pool and spoke to James about my issue...namely, water leaking out of the bottom of the pump when it was running.  James thought it could be a few different issues Go-Kit might be the solution, which would basically replace a few of the gaskets and seals.  HIs technician would be able to tell for sure when he visited my home.
Alex (the technician) arrived as scheduled and was quickly able to determine where the issue was...the secondary pool pump.  He said the Go-Kit was not needed as the issue was clearly with the secondary pump.  He then proceeded to help me diagnose a low pressure backwash issue that I was experiencing, and took the time to explain some things to me that (as a first time pool/home owner) I had no clue about.
To replace and install the secondary motor was going to run a ballpark of $450 - $500, which is on the high side of what I was expecting (and could afford) to shell out right then.  Apparently, fixing a leak in those motors is a challenge because the seal is very difficult to re-achieve once the unit has been opened up...so the recommendation is generally to replace the unit.
Being somewhat handy, I was able to find a brand new pump of the same make/model for $220 on Amazon.  I wouldn't have attempted a new install of the unit myself, but swapping out a new unit for the old was something I could handle.  It took me about an hour or so to do and everything has been running smoothly since.
I would definitely contact these guys again for any pool issue I have moving forward, as they seem to know their business pretty well.  I think I might have a slow leak somewhere in the pool that I plan on having them take a look at in the spring.
Overall, I think their proposed pricing was fair and reasonable.  $230 or so for the pump and another $250 to install assuming it took a couple of hours to do correctly. They've got employees and overhead to cover, as well as travel time, and some sort of profit, so I felt the labor charge was in the ballpark of reasonable.  I just have more time than money and was fairly sure I could handle the install on my own.

"I got several estimates and kept a running list of comparisons of costs and products.  Using Angie's List, I think I compared 3 very good companies.  AAffordable Pool and Spa came in less costly using the same products.  John spent a lot of time discussing the process and brought samples to my house so I wouldn't have to go out to the store.  The coping I initially picked could not be cut to fit my pool, but the second choice turned out to be lovely and the guys did an amazing job laying it.  The tile I finally chose was a little hard to find, but John was unfazed and we got it before we expected.  Of course this process took 3 weeks to complete, but the guys were neat enough and cleaned up after every workday.  Brushing the plaster everyday for 10 days was included in the price! Plus 4 free cleanings! (I use them for that , too) Overall very nice job and we are very pleased.

"We had a new gunite pool/spa completed in August 2013 for about $45K. Both contractors I considered were close in price, and I selected Calvary based on excellent reviews that I now realize were not for gunite pools. Initially, we were very pleased. About two years after installation, Calvary repaired a broken PVC pipe underground (for free, out of warranty) that was attributed to significant heave in the ground. In April 2017, about two years after that first repair, we discovered a leak between the spa and pool on the opposite end from the first repair. We had to drain the pool so they could use their power tools to break through the stone surrounding the spa, coping tile, plaster and gunite to get to the broken pipe in the wall. Since the leak specialist discovered two of the spa jets were glued in and had to be removed by force, we fixed that installation error at the same time. I asked Jon this in email: "The movement we noticed (and near the first leak) was on the opposite end from the spa, but the side with the spa doesn't seem to be having a movement issue like that. We watered (under restrictions in the last few years) but is there something we can do to minimize movement to avoid this? I am getting advice that problems with PVC pipe in a pool this new is unusual." His response: "This is not unussually considering the movement you guys have had. Its unfortunate, but uncontrollable. The pool passed a multi day sit at 30 psi inspection before gunite was shot, the plumbing was left under pressure until the decks where poured. If it where a problem with installation or the scedule 40 PVC used, it would have failed before now. You may want to ignore the facts that you have had severe ground movement, but the facts are the facts regardless of what information you are getting. The last leak was caused by ground movement and we fixed it even beyond the warrantee period. The pool shell cracked and prestige gunite fixed it, you have had ground severe ground expansion causing uphevel on the deck. The ground shifting is clearly the issue, any other claim is a extremely far stretch. Your not the only pool in North Texas with these issues, there are tons of full time leak detection companies that deal with this daily, new and old pools." After that, I stopped asking for his advice and found a leak specialist. I spent $1,300 to repair my almost five-year-old spa. I do not recommend Calvary for a gunite pool build."

FAQs for swimming pool heaters installation and replacement projects in Celina, TX

Yes, you can add a heater to an existing pool. A pro can retrofit a heater to nearly any in-ground or above-ground pool. Adding a heater allows you to start the swim season earlier, finish it later, and maintain a steady water temperature in between. Many owners schedule the job during a larger pool upgrade, but it also works as a standalone project. Professional installation ties the new unit into the existing pump and plumbing for safe, efficient operation.

Most owners switch the heater on a day or two before they plan to swim, then shut it down afterward. Reaching the target temperature can take 24 to 72 hours, depending on pool size and outdoor conditions. Using a cover while the heater is off helps hold the heat and keeps energy costs in check.

Pool heaters can freeze if left exposed to extreme conditions. Freezing can damage internal heater components, potentially leading to costly pool repairs. Cycling water, covering the heater, and regular maintenance help prevent freezing. Sealing or winterizing your heater also protects it during the season—this involves draining water from the heater and its components.

Pool heaters operate with lifespans spanning from seven to 30 years. Gas and propane models last seven to 12 years, while electric and solar heaters perform efficiently for up to 30 years. Consistent professional maintenance and routine inspections extend the heater’s life and improve its performance, ensuring a safe and reliable heating system for your pool.

Before hiring a pool heater installation contractor, conduct thorough research by reviewing online feedback and gathering recommendations from trusted sources. Contact multiple professionals to discuss pricing, request references, and understand the complete installation process. This careful evaluation ensures you select a qualified contractor who delivers high-quality service and a successful installation.
