"My wife and I have used R and C Services Heating and Cooling to service our heating and air conditioning systems for almost 15 years. I should have written a review long ago. They are exceptionally responsive, they explain what they are going to do extremely well, our efficient in solving the problems or doing the checkups, and respond quickly to urgent situations. Chris and his staff recently did two projects for us over the period of about a week and a half. They were friendly, efficient, explained what was being done and why and generally provided excellent service. I wholeheartedly recommend them. Jim C"

"I highly recommend Apex-based "A. Maynor Heating & A/C", who replaced my furnace and the entire central air conditioning system (outside condenser unit, inside evaporator coil, and new refrigerant lines) on 7-17-2020 at my Cary house. I also had them install the new outside condenser unit on the opposite side of the house (where it's in the shade, able to operate more effectively) compared to where the original condenser was (in the direct sun). All of their personnel were very competent, polite, prompt, and a pleasure to interact with, from Christy & Tammy in the office, to Carlos & Louis who performed the initial inspection & diagnosis of the original system that had failed, to Norm who performed the house "load calculation", recommended the appropriate new system, and who (since he's a licensed electrician) modified the wiring at the electrical panel as needed for the new condenser location, to Ramon & Christian who performed the new installation, and to Robert who performed the post-installation check and installed a new condensate pump."

"Air ecperts technician Mark provided a thorough and honest assessment of 1) the condition of my hvac system and 2) determined the source of a separate issue related to a running toilet. Most importantly he confirmed a suspicion i had with another highly rated hvac/plumbing company. This other company (Streamline Services, Plumbing, HVAC & Electrical) stated a few months earlierbi had growth in my ductwork and of course suggested follow up work costing over $1,000. However, since my hvac system is about 3 years old i was of course suspicious and contacted Air Experts which I use to service other rental properties i own. They confirmed with pics that there was absolutely no growth in my ductwork or any other component of my hvac system. This alone gives me confidence to use Air Experts for my other rental properties going forward. I will no longer being using the services of the other hvac company."

"On a Friday evening our upstairs air conditioning unit suddenly stopped working. Gand M sent a service technician to our home within an hour of my call to their answering service. The technician, Greg Stephens, was knowledgeable and professional and immediately diagnosed the problem which happened to be the result of a mistake made by our previous HVAC company. I can't compliment Gand M enough for their fast response, quick diagnosis and reasonable price for an after hours visit. After dealing with a couple of other HVAC companies it was a pleasure to deal with Gand M.

"I was able to speak to customer service late on a Friday evening to make an urgent appointment. That was a pleasant surprise. The technician called me and explained the issue clearly, and offered me repair options. This is the 2nd time I have used their services for HVAC repair. I will continue to call on them for any future issues."

FAQs for central a/c service or repair projects in Chapel Hill, NC

Coils work to absorb heat into the refrigerant that flows through them, moving heat from one location to another. For air conditioning, the evaporator coil inside the air handler in your home absorbs heat. It then transfers the heat outside to the condenser coil, where it releases it. The opposite process happens for heat pumps. When the coils get dusty and dirty, it reduces how well these components work.

Skip regular cleanings, and dirt, debris, and mineral deposits will blanket your evaporator and condenser coils. When that happens, the coils can’t shed heat efficiently, so the system works harder and your energy bill climbs. Over time, overheating strains the compressor and can trigger a full breakdown—an avoidable repair that often costs far more than a simple annual cleaning.

AC coil cleaning is an investment that pays for itself in the benefits it provides. Dust‑caked coils force your AC to run longer, so you spend more on electricity and rack up extra wear. A quick professional cleaning restores efficiency, trims monthly bills, and eases strain on expensive parts. Over the long haul, that small yearly fee delays pricy repairs and stretches the unit’s lifespan, making coil cleaning one of the smartest HVAC tune‑ups you can schedule.

Watch for higher electric bills, rooms that stay warm no matter how low you set the thermostat, or an AC system that runs nonstop. Extra humidity and frost on the coils are also red flags. Catching these clues early lets you schedule a quick cleaning before the system overworks itself and triggers an expensive breakdown.

Your AC cleaning technician starts by shutting off the power to the unit and removing the faceplate. Compressed air and a vacuum hose blast away loose debris, followed by a coil-safe, no-rinse cleaner that dissolves stubborn grime. After the solution has soaked in, the professional wipes the fins, reassembles the housing, and restores power, leaving the system ready to cool at peak efficiency.
