"With the big snow storm hit I needed to leave for work at 5 15 a.m. Monday morning. I said the walkway the sidewalk at the driveway had to be done. They came twice Monday morning got about 1:00 a.m. and again at about 5:00 a.m. the snow would come so hard and heavy it needed to be that way it had to be hand shoveled they got the job done I could really count on them they even salted so that when the sun came out I had safe surfaces I even asked him to come out again because my roof had out onto the front walkway and formed an ice patch and they came broke it up and left some salt they were great to work with"

"These guys did a fantastic job on my yard! I initially hired them to clean up and remove young trees from my yard. I was so impressed with their work that I hired them again to lay landscaping fabric and gravel. They’re easy to work with. Each project they did for me, they were in and out in a day. They show up when they say they will, they do a great job and are reasonably priced. I highly recommend them."

"We had Cutting Edge install a paver patio and Sundance louvered roof. Matt and Alex spent time with us in designing the perfect patio to fit our budget. The Sundance louvered roof is a wonderful addition to our back yard. Keaton and his team did an awesome job in installing the pavers and the Sundance. Keaton was super helpful in answering all of our questions and concerns."

"I was absent when the work was done, so I only got to see the end results. The end result looks perfect on the surface and the pipes drain. The clean up was amazing. The only way I can tell my yard was worked on is because trees are messing. Absolutely no debris left behind and beautiful grading of the surface."

"So far - so good. The lawn looks awesome and all of the timming work made a huge difference. He got a little to zealous with one tree, but managed to fix that issue with my neighbor. He went above and beyond - finding some old pavers buried in my lawn he installed them at the front to make a little rock patio. He also noticed that a number of boards on my old fence had decayed and rotted so he sent one of his crew members over to replace those boards. This is the third time that I have used Paul and will continue to use him for my landscape needs"

"Mike and his team exceeded our expectations. We had looked at some driveways installed by others and they did not look nearly as nice as the job Rowe Paving did. Their price was very competitive to other bids we received. We even asked for a modification after an agreed price and Mike was willing to do it at the same price. I would heartily recommend Mike Rowe to others looking for a quality paving job."

"Great interactions with everyone from the team.  Amazing customer service.  When the gravel arrived and was delivered, not one single stone wound up outside of the pavers we had lined up, or on our driveway.  This made my gravel driveway project easy and wasn't  too labor intensive.  We have never had anything but great experiences with Indiana Mulch and Stone. <br />"

FAQs for gravel or loose fill paving install, spread or scrape projects in Cicero, IN

To calculate how much pea gravel you need for your project, multiply the length, width, and depth of the area you want to cover to find the volume in cubic feet. Then, divide that number by 27 to convert it to cubic yards to determine the amount of pea gravel you need.

A yard of pea gravel weighs about 1.3 tons or 2,600 pounds. Keep in mind that wet gravel weighs more than dry, and different types of gravel can vary in weight. For example, due to its density, river rock weighs significantly more than crushed stone and pea gravel.

The ideal depth for pea gravel depends on the type and size of your project. You'll need at least two to three inches for walkways and patios and a minimum of six inches for driveways to support heavy vehicles and prevent shifting over time. Aim for a depth of three to four inches in decorative garden beds or drainage areas.

Pea gravel is attractive, versatile, and low-maintenance. It provides excellent drainage, making it ideal for pathways, driveways, and garden beds. On the downside, its sharp texture isn't ideal for bare feet, and it can be challenging to weed or remove once installed. It can also shift underfoot without proper edging, creating an uneven surface.

Alternative landscaping materials you can use instead of pea gravel include wood chips, decomposed granite, crushed stone, pebbles, quartz, mulch, sand, and river rock. These materials offer different aesthetics, performance, and costs, so it’s important to do your research to determine which one best fits your landscape design and budget.

Many homeowners choose pea gravel because it requires minimal upkeep compared to other landscaping materials. You'll need to rake it occasionally to redistribute the stones and maintain an even surface. Pros also recommend installing weed barrier fabric beneath the gravel to prevent unwanted growth, although some weeds may still appear over time.
