"Got a service call deal for $34 and had them scheduled to come out and give an estimate to have a gas line extended to our laundry room for the dryer. The estimate ended up being much higher than we anticipated and we wanted to get a second estimate. We also asked if he could hook up our washer water supply, and he was unable to do so and recommended we re-run the pipes and valves as they were too old. We had another plumber coming out the next day from a previous work order, and asked for the estimate - it was half the price of Hope's, and he was able to attach the water connections with no problem. Felt like Hope plumber was just trying to invent work to get paid for."

"Didn't take any time to fix the leak and he explained what to do if it should happen again.  The toilet, of course, didn't make the noise while he was there.  But, he also explained a few things it could be and put our mind at ease that the pipes were probably alright.  Also, suggested not to put too much money into fixing it because we would be money ahead to replace the whole toilet.  I appreciate his honesty and his knowledge. <br />"

"I had a toilet installed by a handyman. I was not satisfied with the results and called Jeff for help in rebalancing it. He did a great job and I was totally satisfied with Jeff's work. I have called on Pipe Dreams before and they are always courteous and respond quickly. Their price is always fair and I would recommend them to anyone. <br />"

"I purchased a home which needed pipe extensions added to the furnace vents and the furnace, air conditioner and gas fire place serviced.  I called LCS both because of Angie's List recommendations and because they are a Goodman furnace representative.  On the appointed day, they arrived on time, but that very morning I discovered that my well pump had apparently quit running.  Travis of LCS volunteered to look at the pump, but unfortunately he couldn't fix it (and I later had to replace it).  Travis also gave me the name of an electrician that he trusts and respects.  Since I had no water and since LCS needed water to do the maintenance on both the furnace and air conditioner, they left with the understanding that I would call them when the water was again flowing.  It took a couple of weeks to get the well pump replaced, but when I again called LCS they were able to return quickly to do the service work.  While servicing the equipment, they explained to me how to use and maintain the equipment, especially the gas fireplace, which I have never used before.  They are very knowledgeable, friendly, and helpful and I would recommend them without hesitation."

"My sewer line broke and I called Rex May Plumbing, which I have used in the past several times for plumbing issues. Rex and his son (3rd generation plumber) came out quickly and professionally resolved the problem. I was pleased at how reasonable there bill was. If you have any plumbing needs call Rex May Plumbing, you will not be disappointed. Tom Brink"

"Nick gave me a very detailed line item quote and even gave me the option to do some of the manual labor myself. Nick and his team showed up promptly on the day work was scheduled and had everything knocked out in a few hours. They removed a cracked section of clay pipe and tied into it with PVC. I got the exact same job quoted by another company for $3K. After the clean out was replaced they snaked the sewer line. While one tech was cutting the clay pipe, Nick was replacing the drip leg on the water heater. Nick was very thorough in making sure there was not a gas leak after his work. I will be calling Quality Control for all my plumbing, heating, and air needs."

"It actually went very well. They were prompt, worked fast (about 2 hours total), and no leaks when done. My only disappointments were: 1. I remembered afterwards that they advertised a $20 senior discount which was not mentioned. 2. The work quality looked fine except the elbow fittings used look like 1/2" on a 3/4" in and out copper pipe system, so the overall house water flow has likely been reduced somewhat."

"The plumber instantly diagnosed the problem. A gasket needed to be replaced and said that the charge would be $239 to do just that and if he did anything else in the tank it would cost more. I asked if it was something I could handle. He showed me what to do (remove one part) replace the gasket and reassemble. It took no time at all. I really appreciated his help but was stunned by what it could have cost."

FAQs for gas piping projects in Clayton, IN

Plumbers with proper licensing and credentials install and relocate gas lines. When hiring a professional, verify they have experience with gas systems and all required certifications. Some homeowners choose to work with plumbers specializing in natural gas installations, as they have extensive experience with similar projects and understand the safety requirements.

The timeline for gas line relocation varies based on project complexity, permit processing, and inspection scheduling. The physical labor takes a few hours to one day, depending on the line length. However, the actual installation work represents only part of the overall project timeline. Your contractor should provide a specific timeframe based on your circumstances and local permitting requirements.

Your gas supply must be shut off during the relocation process. This safety measure prevents gas leaks while connections are being modified. Plan for this temporary service interruption by making alternative arrangements for cooking, heating, or other gas-dependent systems in your home. The shut-off generally only lasts for a portion of the work, often a few hours.

Relocating gas lines to connect new appliances is a common reason for this type of project. Whether you're installing a gas stove, fireplace, dryer, or outdoor grill, a professional can determine the best route for extending your existing gas system. The cost will depend on the distance between your current gas line and the new appliance location.

Gas line work is not suitable for DIY projects. Natural gas is highly flammable and potentially lethal if not handled correctly. Gas leaks can be difficult to detect without specialized equipment. Professional plumbers have the proper training, tools, and experience to safely relocate gas lines while ensuring compliance with local building codes and safety standards.
