"Wow! Amazing service. I must've called 8 different places in a panic trying to get the brick mounts which hold the mantel removed from my old fireplace so the surface could be prepped for a new TV. Seemed like an easy task (I thought), but it was a little more meticulous than I thought. I called this team and they arrived same day! Incredible customer service and expertise. Not only did they return the day after providing an estimate and remove the brick mounts, they actually re-fabricated the brick to make the holes disappear! This team knows their stuff!! I was so impressed that in the Spring I'd like them to come and do some masonry work for me. Highly recommend. They really are committed to doing good work and meeting the needs of their customer Special thanks for seeing to my issue before my TV install. We are ready for the Superbowl!!"

"Chimney Doctor gets a "A" for the actual chimney work and a "F" for clean-up (which averages out to a "C"). The mortar between the bricks of our chimney was beginning to deteriorate. We hired Chimney Doctor to tuckpoint most of the chimney and perform other minor work re: the cap. The work itself was done in a reasonable amount of time and looks great. That said, the chimney is located right next to our new composite deck that we had built a few months ago. I emphasized several times in writing to the company that the deck was the largest investment we had made in the house and we were very sensitive about protecting it. They acknowledged this sentiment multiple times, also in writing. Despite these requests, the furniture and the deck surfaces were a complete mess after they finished their work. The workers allowed the dust to settle on the deck and, due to the high humidity, this dust adhered itself to every surface. The company acknowledged this issue and did send an employee days later to clean the deck. Unfortunately, this was ineffective. It took me hours over several days (I had to wait for the deck to dry each time to see spots I missed) of power washing and scrubbing to get the deck clean again and to clean each item of furniture. When I informed them of this situation, they did apologize but provided no other refund or resolution. I recognize this process creates dust and that's just part of the work, but I think they could've done much more to either proactively protect the deck, to suggest that WE should've put some tarps down on our own, or to pay for a professional 3rd party company to come in and clean up. All told, if your chimney is nowhere near a nice patio/deck/etc., then by all means hire Chimney Doctor. If it is near an area you're sensitive about, then I'd look elsewhere or at least be prepared for a large clean-up effort on your part."

"Capitol came out on time, and a nice gentleman named Abraham and a helper came out to give an estimate for the work. He spent about 45 minutes looking around, and to my surprise, issued a bid on the spot. The bid was reasonable and actually included a full rebuild of one chimney from scratch, including building a firebox. I was really tempted because the two other bids I received wanted to sell me a prebuilt firebox at considerable cost (almost nobody hand-builds fireboxes anymore, it seems), and I liked the idea of getting a brand new chimney as I had lots of brick damage from years of thermal cycling. However, the risk is much higher in buying this type of work because your chimney performance is completely tied to the company's ability to properly design a replacement chimney and build it properly in all its details. So, I asked for a portfolio to see their rebuild work--i.e., not repairs, but work where they had fully rebuilt chimneys, They sent a few jobs with perhaps a couple of "after" photos each, which did not engender confidence that they were proud of their work. I would think a big chimney rebuild should have had all kinds of process photos, pictures of the firebox, etc. So, I asked for two references who had rebuilds done who could vouch for the work, and that was the last I heard from this company over a week ago. So, I'm not entirely confident that their full rebuild customers are happy, given I haven't seen a single review on this website for a large job like mine. As tempted as I am to take their reasonable offer, I am not entirely sure they can do a full rebuild I would be happy with. Not having a portfolio and no references is not a good sign."

"Day of inspection, they arrived promptly at 8:30 am. They inspected both the fireplace and furnace/hot water heater flues as well as the exterior of the chimney and described what work needed to be done. When asked, they explained in detail why the work was required, what needed to be done immediately, and what could wait. The crew was courteous and professional. One of them even took the time to give me instructions on how to set and light a fire in the fireplace when I explained I didn't know how. The work was performed over the first two Saturdays in January. I actually had to leave them alone there as something had come up requiring my attendance. When I got home, they had completed all but the smoke chamber work and that was because they thought they would have to go in from the outside requiring that they remove bricks from the chimney on the outside and they did not have brick with them that matched my brick so they didn't want to do the work until they were sure they had the right brick to replace what they removed. I thought that was very thoughtful of them to want to ensure that the brick was correct. So we rescheduled for them to come back the next Saturday although I again had to be away from the house again because of a prior commitment. They had no problems with this and were even nice enough to use the back door and ensure it was locked before they left. I actually arrived home just as they were finishing. They showed me what they had done as well as a video one had taken before the work to show me the holes inside of the smoke chamber wall that necessitated the work. They also showed me where they had to take out and replace three bricks in the chimney and I could barely tell the difference from the old brick. All personnel were very courteous and professional. They didn't leave any mess in or outside the house. As almost all of the work was inside the chimney or up on top of the chimney, it is difficult for me to comment as to how well it was done but it appears to have been done in a professional manner so I am confident it was done correctly. Before agreeing to the work, I researched the company and what they recommended doing and felt confident given their reputation that their work would be adequate. At this point, I am completely satisfied with the work done and the manner in which it was done."

"They don't do estimates as they have fixed prices. $150.00 for chimney and fireplace, prices differ with inserts, etc.  Since we have 2, he discounted the cost to $250.  They arrived on time, with everything they needed to accomplish the job.  They were friendly and efficient and took great care to protect my floor and furniture. While on the roof they noticed that there were no caps on the chimney, and asked if I would like them installed.  After discussing the caps and prices I told them to proceed.  it was something I had forgotten about when I scheduled the appoinment.  We had decided to do that as chimney swifts nested there every year.  The caps were stainless steel, and $100. each. There was no pressure to get them, just a straight forward question. Our chimneys are very tall, one over 3 stories, so I was delighted I didn't have to call them back a second time.  They finished quickly, and left no trace that they had been there. <br /> I can highly recommend them, and will use them again. <br />"

"They did a great job. Came on the day they scheduled and finished the job in the time they said it would take. The workers were polite and respectful (we were locked down with COVID) so their behavior mattered. I would recommend this firm to anyone looking to replace roof. We received three bids and they were in the middle. Love my new roof!"

"The job was bid out and after 6 bids I chose High's because of the reputation and the representative (Mark, who gave the bid). This was the highest bid of the cluster but I figured the quality and assurance of longevity of the business were both worth the extra cost. He was one of four that recommended a rebuild as sealing the chimney with this type of leak was "ineffective." The crew arrived 4 Feb to demolish the existing chimney.  We had several miscommunications and I was connected with MIke.  Mike has been with High's for many years now and assured me we would resolve the problem.  I am delighted to say, Mike and his crew stuck to it.  Although we had weather and other obstacles the final resolution was a beautiful chimney with no evidence of leaking provided by a professional crew.  Mark, Steve, Doug and Mike, thank you - great job!  The ratings for this job appear misleading, I have averaged all events and communication errors (apparently there was a website failure during this time) and the result is the above rating, illustrating worst case scenario.  The true measure of a professional organization is their ability to handle adverse events.  These guys managed the complications with aplomb.   If you have a potentially complicated chimney/firebox situation, call High's!  Anything older than 50 years and I would not trust it to anyone else."
