"Title: Exceptional, trustworthy plumbing — highly recommended Galactic Mechanical & Plumbing exceeded every expectation. After a frustrating runaround with other companies, Jordan drove up from Albuquerque to Santa Fe, waived the trip charge, and quickly diagnosed that I only needed a faucet fixture (not a full sink). He went to Home Depot, installed the new fixture, fixed a few other small issues, and left everything working — all billed fairly for one hour of labor. Jordan was professional, efficient, and honest; Megan in the office was courteous and helpful. As a longtime local with two homes, I’m already planning to use Galactic as my go-to plumber. Highly recommend them for reliable, respectful, and skilled service. Thank you, Jordan."

"While trying to remove the old faucet, the water pipe broke. "This wasn't there fault, the old faucet look like was glued or welded onto the pipe" They took it in stride, quickly turned off the main water, repaired the broken pipe, removed any excess water and installed the new faucet. They did this extra work at no additional cost.
Now we can use our outdoor faucet without water spraying out of the handle. We will be sure to call them again.

"Mr. Wilson arrived right on time and got to work right away. I already knew the wax ring needed to be replaced. Mr. Wilson promptly diagnosed a leak in the toilet tank water supply line and replaced the line. Everything is in perfect working order now. Better than new. I will definitely use Wilson Waterworks again for any future plumbing work.

"We have used Williams Mechanical many times in the past for service, but this was the first really major project (furnace replacement) we have had them do. The technicians arrived promptly, worked steadily and finished in less time than we anticipated. We continue to be extremely pleased with Williams work."

"Kevin and his associate were very professional in every way. The sink drain pipe was fixed quickly, and the cabinet rebuilt on a separate trip. Extra flexible piping was used in the drain pip repair to prevent the cracking from re-occurring. I appreciate his competence and willingness to discuss all the aspects of the job. I would definitely call KSM again.

"Steve and Ray did a fantastic job locating a leak below the cement slab of our 2064 square foot one story house. The leak was really hard to find because it was 3 feet below the slab, but they persevered and drew a box on the slab within 2 or 3 feet of the actual leaks, there were 2 leaks a foot apart in the copper pipe. I think they used every method at their disposal to find the leak, including gas injection, sound listening, temperature, air blowing out through holes they drilled, etc.. Even though it took multiple days, they charged us the quoted price. Their communication was the best I've ever experienced, answering emails within 30 minutes even at 10 pm, and phone calls were either answered or returned within 5 minutes. They always came at the exact time they quoted, and sometimes a little early.  For tough leak locating, they rock!

"This company is owned by two people, Rick and Dave.  I'm not sure if there are even any other employees, because they actually did the install, and Rick came to give the quote.  To have the owners of the company do the install is a great benefit because they are the ones most interested in leaving a satisfied customer.  And I am very satisfied.
Rick gave a quote of $1895 before tax for a 2-stage furnace install.  I got three other estimates, each of which were $1000 higher or more.  I was a little hesitant to accept the bid from Custom-Air because a price that is that much lower is often a red flag.  However, there were 3 good reviews on Angie's List, and Rick seemed like a good guy, so I went for it.  I can find nothing in their work that I am even remotely disappointed in.  I'm a mechanical engineer and tend to be pretty critical of other people's work and looked much more carefully than your average consumer.  They installed a drip leg on the gas line and built a beautiful duct to transition from two different sizes to mate the furnace to the existing ducting.  The thermostat was good quality (Honeywell 6000) and Rick set it up correctly.  The caulk around the bottom wasn't a mess and everything was cleaned up before they left (in fact, my utility closet may be cleaner than it has ever been!).  Took them about 4.5 hours.
A couple of notes:  Rick originally suggested a 100,000 BTU furnace with a 3/4 HP blower.  However wanted to make sure I didn't end up with an over-sized furnace because it reduces comfort and efficiency (and is noisier).  I suspect HVAC contractors tend to oversize furnaces as a CYA scheme, since you can really only complain if you're too cold (and because they don't want to spend their time doing a bunch of calculations, which I can understand).  But furnaces should be sized so that they have to run continuously to keep the house at 70F at the coldest expected outdoor temperature.  Based on my experience with my old furnace and -8F temperatures, I was confident a 75,000 BTU furnace and a 1/2 HP blower was the correct choice.  I told Rick my opinion, and he agreed that it should be fine and installed exactly what I wanted.
The only other thing to mention is that he accidentally got the wrong thermostat (it was a non-programmable model).  I pointed it out, and he immediately corrected the problem.
It's probable that any of the three other HVAC companies I got quotes from would have done an equally good job.  However, why would I want to pay 50% more?  I saved $1000!  It's not often that you can say that!

FAQs for gas piping projects in Cochiti Lake, NM

Plumbers with proper licensing and credentials install and relocate gas lines. When hiring a professional, verify they have experience with gas systems and all required certifications. Some homeowners choose to work with plumbers specializing in natural gas installations, as they have extensive experience with similar projects and understand the safety requirements.

The timeline for gas line relocation varies based on project complexity, permit processing, and inspection scheduling. The physical labor takes a few hours to one day, depending on the line length. However, the actual installation work represents only part of the overall project timeline. Your contractor should provide a specific timeframe based on your circumstances and local permitting requirements.

Your gas supply must be shut off during the relocation process. This safety measure prevents gas leaks while connections are being modified. Plan for this temporary service interruption by making alternative arrangements for cooking, heating, or other gas-dependent systems in your home. The shut-off generally only lasts for a portion of the work, often a few hours.

Relocating gas lines to connect new appliances is a common reason for this type of project. Whether you're installing a gas stove, fireplace, dryer, or outdoor grill, a professional can determine the best route for extending your existing gas system. The cost will depend on the distance between your current gas line and the new appliance location.

Gas line work is not suitable for DIY projects. Natural gas is highly flammable and potentially lethal if not handled correctly. Gas leaks can be difficult to detect without specialized equipment. Professional plumbers have the proper training, tools, and experience to safely relocate gas lines while ensuring compliance with local building codes and safety standards.
