"This was a big project involving replacing two HVAC package units on my roof, new stands, ducting, and new thermostats. It needed to be coordinated with re-roofing the house. So timing was critical and Air Pro needed to get a crane out to remove the existing units, then make two new unit stands and return the next day to install new units and the new stands, all in coordination with the roof work. Air Pro is a wonderful company. Every person that I interacted with from that company was very polite and professional. Jarod, the estimator, stayed with the project for the installation. Lori, at the office found the certificates for the units so we could get the gas company rebates ($300 each!). The two guys who did the actual installation (sorry that I do not have their names) were great. We went with the new Carrier 3 ton 48 VG-B 16 SEER Units. They are variable speed and so quiet! I can't even tell when they come on in the morning!"

"It went extremely well!  The response from the Newmans at Controlled Comfort was outstanding and they schedule our service exactly in the time frame we had requested.  In fact, I received a call from Lisa to ask if I would like to take the appointment which was cancelled an hour earlier than originally scheduled.  My husband was amazed at the quality and the professionalism shown by Mr. Newman and his helper.  The quickly were up on the roof and working on our unit.  All the work listed in the Big Deal was performed which included cleaning, oiling and water line hook up.  However, having just moved into our home a few months ago, there were a few items that needed help.  We did not have a water line hooked up and our pads were in dire need of replacement.  Mr. Newman provided the water hose, hooked up the unit to the line and replace the pads.  He worked on the unit for approx one hour and now our home is no longer a sauna!  We paid slightly more than the Big Deal and not because Controlled Comfort requested but because we also asked Mr. Newman to do extra and he supplied additional parts and labor.  The total we paid was well worth it and we will, definitely, use Controlled Comfort for our yearly maintenance concerns.  Thank you!

"The tech, Cameron, came to my house as my swamp cooler quit.  He went up and inspected the unit.  He came back down and showed me photos he took of the swamp cooler - showed lots of rust, dangerous electrical and place where water was pooling when the unit overflowed.  After we discussed the options, I chose to replace the unit.  I also bought the service agreement.

We set a date for the install and Cameron gave me his cell # telling me to call any time with questions.  He was going to be about 15 mins later than he had expected and he called to let me know.  He and another tech showed up and started work right away.  They completed the job quickly and answered all of my questions.  Cam showed photos of the new unit and drain.

Discussed all my service agreement parts and they gave me the rebate form for the electric company.  I felt that I was in very good hands and am glad I purchased my cooler from them as I feel that any problems I may have with plumbing (which a complete inspection is included in the service agreement ) or air, I have someone reasonable and available to call."

"Two service techs showed up on time, talked briefly about the project. They  begin the work, and were done in under 45 minutes. Very polite and professional, will use them again. I highly recommend.

"John Lial and his father were very professional. When we needed to have an additional circuit breaker installed to handle the A/C, they found an electrician and came out on a Sunday to do the quote. Only issue was they only worked four to five hours the first two days, arrived later than expected each day and the job took 6 days to complete. They were late one day due to having to pick up the unit, and they did stay until everything was working properly, did a good clean up job and were courteous throughout."

FAQs for window a/c unit service or relocation projects in Cochiti Lake, NM

If your window air conditioner is relatively new or of high quality, repairing it can restore optimal performance and protect your investment. However, for older units or those with ongoing issues, it might be more cost-effective to replace the unit to ensure long-term efficiency and reliability. Consider the unit's age, the severity of the problem, repair costs versus replacement, and energy efficiency ratings when making your decision. If repairs cost more than half the price of a new unit, replacement is typically the better option.

Window air conditioners last eight to ten years on average. After this time, you may notice decreased efficiency and component wear. Replacing an older unit can improve energy savings and provide updated features like remote controls and better overall performance. With proper maintenance including regular filter cleaning, coil checks, and professional servicing, you can maximize your unit's lifespan.

If your portable AC isn't cooling, it might have a refrigerant leak or a circuit malfunction that's preventing it from working properly. It's best to contact a local air conditioner contractor to inspect and repair the unit. If your AC is older and repairs don't fix the issue, replacing it might be the most effective solution.

Removing a wall-mounted AC costs $55 to $75. Completing the removal yourself at the end of each summer season, being sure to do so according to proper guidelines, keeps you within this cost range. Should you require professional assistance for removal and disposal, if you can't move the unit yourself, expect an added fee of $25 to $50 to the overall cost.
