"The 95 year old water line under sidewalk started leaking. The line ran from the street, under the sidewalk, a wall, and concrete porch. I was worried about having to excavate. Ty Good the owner of Utility and Septic Solutions came out the same day I called him. He explained they could bore underneath everything which was a big relief. Very professional, knowledgeable, and encouraged questions. Ty took care of everything from permits to city inspection. Ty is licensed by city of Columbus. The water was only off for 3 hours. Always returned calls and was on time. Utility and Septic solutions is a small company but was able to do the work at a much lower price than a major plumbing company and still deliver a very professional job. I highly recommend Ty and Utility & Septic soloutions."

"The one plumber who came in was very good and very easy to work with and did a very professional job. I have used them several times and I have always been satisfied. I would continue to use them in the future. After discovering that we didn't have hot water on a Saturday morning, I called Ben Franklin, who installed the water heater in April. After two attempts contacting their answering service, they finally contacted me 2 hours after the 2nd attempt when I had gotten another plumber. The owner called me on Monday and apologized for his answering service and offered to pay for the service call from the other plumber and install the gas valve required for free. I really think this is excellent customer service. When you acknowledge that you have a problem with your system and immediately make it right, that is all you can expect from a service provider. They have done excellent work for me in the past and only my initial frustration made me call someone else. I recommend them highly."

"Hired for two jobs at two of our locations. First job was replacing spigot. Used Angie's list coupon. He ran into an issue with something on our end, but I never would have known if he didn't tell me because the job was quick and done well. Second location we needed toilets re-set, drain stops installed, faucet replaced, water line run to refrigerator. First part of the job went smoothly, but I had other workers there doing another project that unexpectedly prevented John from the water line work. He was kind enough to not complain and not charge me for another visit. Came back the next day and finished the work. I thought that was over and above. *While at the second location he located the issue of another problem we'd been unable to identify which was wonderful. In the process of scheduling with him to do this repair as well."

FAQs for septic system repair projects in Columbus, OH

You should have your septic tank inspected at least once every one to three years. Regular inspections help catch minor issues before they become major problems, ensuring your system operates efficiently and extends its lifespan. You can also have your pro take care of routine septic system maintenance tasks at the same time as your inspection.

A septic tank must be inspected before buying a home to ensure the system is sound and compliant with local regulations. A comprehensive inspection evaluates all critical components and detects hidden faults that could lead to expensive repairs. This detailed review protects your investment by verifying the system’s integrity and reliability.

A septic tank's leach field fails when it encounters system overload and deteriorating conditions. Excess water usage beyond the field’s capacity and environmental stress lead to hydraulic failure. Aging infrastructure and insufficient maintenance further contribute to failure. Distributing water use evenly and scheduling regular maintenance, including enzyme treatments when necessary, preserve the leach field’s integrity.

A septic system lasts between 20 and 30 years. Steel tanks function for 15 to 20 years, concrete tanks operate for 20 to 40 years, and fiberglass or plastic tanks remain durable for 30 to 40 years. Consistent maintenance, including regular pumping and inspections, extends these lifespans by preventing buildup and structural damage, ensuring reliable long-term performance.

A failing septic system presents clear signs such as slow-draining fixtures, foul odors at or around the leach field, and overly green patches of grass. Additional indicators include persistent toilet flushing problems, standing water near the system, and noticeable gurgling noises from pipes. These symptoms reveal blockages, structural damage, or leaks. Immediate professional evaluation is essential to address these issues and prevent extensive repair costs.
