"At 6PM on a Wednesday night (with my husband out of town on business and a child sick with the flu) we discovered that the shower water wouldn't drain.  Upon further inspection we noticed water in an addition bathtub that hadn't been used recently.  The problem was due to the treatment plant being full and needing to be drained.  Talk about BAD TIMING!  I first tried calling another company that was listed in the phone book and advertised 24 hour service to see if they could come take care of the problem.  They informed me it would be the next morning sometime before they would even come out.  Having a sick child, that wasn't an option for us.  I called ABC Septic, and they came to the rescue!  They were currently on another job when I called, but I was informed they could be here around 7:30PM.  They called shortly before they arrived to let me know they were on their way.  They were EXTREMELY professional!  They drained the treatment plant and had me to run water in all the bathrooms to make sure everything was draining properly.  They checked the treatment plant and system for problems and found a broken part on the aerator.  They were here for around an hour and a half.  The total charge for draining the 1300 gallon tank was $325.  They didn't even charge me any type of after hours fee.  It's hard to find such an exceptional company like this one, and I'm so glad I did.  I'll never use anyone else but them!!!

"Zach and Devin came out and install a septic system for a mobile home I had moved out to Fayette county. They were on time unlike another company that quoted me at a much higher rate. They were very professional polite young men. They got the job done. I will definitely use them for future installs and repairs. And recommend them to my friends and family."

"The toilet was wobbly so my son was going to replace the anchor on the toilet. When he got the toilet disconnected he discovered that the anchor definitely needed to be replaced. The problem was that the anchor was cemented to the flange going into the floor. He tried to chisel it out but it was too much. Drain Go came out the next day, chiselled out the anchor and some of the flange. In order to replace the flange, they would have to use a jackhammer on the floor, possibly crack the PVC, and have to repair the floor afterwards. This was going to cost well over 1500.00 so I opted for inserting a slightly smaller flange inside the existing flange. They said since I have the old style large tank toilet (I didn't know there was another style) I shouldn't have a problem with stoppage. I hope they are right!
It's been a couple of days now and everything seems to be fine so far.

"AHS is ok. They cover repairs of most everything under the roof of your house. The companies that contract with them are not always the best. You call AHS with the issue, they send a fax to the repair company and give you the contact info. If they don't contact you within 24 hours, you call them. Sometimes they answer, sometimes they don't. When they arrive (usually three days or so later), they service the item. if it has issues within the 90 days, you call AHS again, they are sent out with no charge. If the serviceman decides the unit is unrepairable, AHS will allow you to choose a replacement from their listing (usually not as good as what you have) they will install and remove your old item, or give you wholesale amount to buy and install your own. Prices vary on what you want covered and what you want the copay to be, plus where you live. For me it is 49.99 per month with a 75.00 time of service order. You can have more than one item serviced at the same time under the same fee. If you have a SEAR product the repair guys are great. Not that wild about the other ones they send out. But it is a big savings compared to calling someone on your own. The cost of service is only the 75.00 copay."

FAQs for septic system repair projects in Memphis, TN

You should have your septic tank inspected at least once every one to three years. Regular inspections help catch minor issues before they become major problems, ensuring your system operates efficiently and extends its lifespan. You can also have your pro take care of routine septic system maintenance tasks at the same time as your inspection.

A septic tank must be inspected before buying a home to ensure the system is sound and compliant with local regulations. A comprehensive inspection evaluates all critical components and detects hidden faults that could lead to expensive repairs. This detailed review protects your investment by verifying the system’s integrity and reliability.

A septic tank's leach field fails when it encounters system overload and deteriorating conditions. Excess water usage beyond the field’s capacity and environmental stress lead to hydraulic failure. Aging infrastructure and insufficient maintenance further contribute to failure. Distributing water use evenly and scheduling regular maintenance, including enzyme treatments when necessary, preserve the leach field’s integrity.

A septic system lasts between 20 and 30 years. Steel tanks function for 15 to 20 years, concrete tanks operate for 20 to 40 years, and fiberglass or plastic tanks remain durable for 30 to 40 years. Consistent maintenance, including regular pumping and inspections, extends these lifespans by preventing buildup and structural damage, ensuring reliable long-term performance.

A failing septic system presents clear signs such as slow-draining fixtures, foul odors at or around the leach field, and overly green patches of grass. Additional indicators include persistent toilet flushing problems, standing water near the system, and noticeable gurgling noises from pipes. These symptoms reveal blockages, structural damage, or leaks. Immediate professional evaluation is essential to address these issues and prevent extensive repair costs.
