"They quickly answered the phone and quickly sent someone to my house. That was so appreciated as the repair was for a dryer gas line connector. Jim was courteous and knowledgeable. He explained everything so I could easily understand and recommended only the repair that was necessary. Highly recommended."

"ll remember him in the future.I haven't been able to use my gas log fireplace in years. It was impossible to light and the pilot would never stay lit. I contacted the Gas Guy. Chris came out, cleaned the pilot, changed the thermocouple, added embers, put a longer stem on the gas knob and I was sitting in front of a beautiful fire that very night. Chris was very polite, thorough and informative. I would recommend him to anyone needing experience concerning natural gas connections and I will remember him in the future. Plus, he's a really nice guy. <br />"

"I am very happy with how the technicians accomodated our situation of having to leave early for a family funeral. They came first thing in the morning and worked quickly to identify the issue. As a result of not having the new part with them, they came back to complete the repair as soon as we returned home. They are a great company to work with. I will always call them first for my heating and air conditioning repairs as the technicians are very honest and they all do a great job! <br />"

"Our kitchen sink started leaking Sunday night. We used Prrrfect Plumbing twice before so I called them first thing Monday morning. They were able to come out an hour later! Jake installed a new faucet and garbage disposal in the kitchen, a new faucet in the basement and fixed a very slow leak in our master bath. He was very professional and was reasonably priced! We’d definitely use them again and highly recommend them!"

FAQs for gas piping projects in Cortland, IL

Plumbers with proper licensing and credentials install and relocate gas lines. When hiring a professional, verify they have experience with gas systems and all required certifications. Some homeowners choose to work with plumbers specializing in natural gas installations, as they have extensive experience with similar projects and understand the safety requirements.

The timeline for gas line relocation varies based on project complexity, permit processing, and inspection scheduling. The physical labor takes a few hours to one day, depending on the line length. However, the actual installation work represents only part of the overall project timeline. Your contractor should provide a specific timeframe based on your circumstances and local permitting requirements.

Your gas supply must be shut off during the relocation process. This safety measure prevents gas leaks while connections are being modified. Plan for this temporary service interruption by making alternative arrangements for cooking, heating, or other gas-dependent systems in your home. The shut-off generally only lasts for a portion of the work, often a few hours.

Relocating gas lines to connect new appliances is a common reason for this type of project. Whether you're installing a gas stove, fireplace, dryer, or outdoor grill, a professional can determine the best route for extending your existing gas system. The cost will depend on the distance between your current gas line and the new appliance location.

Gas line work is not suitable for DIY projects. Natural gas is highly flammable and potentially lethal if not handled correctly. Gas leaks can be difficult to detect without specialized equipment. Professional plumbers have the proper training, tools, and experience to safely relocate gas lines while ensuring compliance with local building codes and safety standards.
