"After the gas company refused to turn on our gas due to leak, I searched for gas leak service through Angies. First Class plumbing called and I asked them to perform a test to find out the source of the leak. I agreed to pay them $360 for this service which would be applied to the repair cost should I have decided to choose them for repair. The did a pressure test, confirmed the leak. However, they guessed where the leak was. They said the leak is somewhere underground between the gas meter and where the gas pipe enters teh house (~28 feet). They told me replacing that under-concrete pipe would cost me $9000 and if I do the post repair concrete patch, it would cost $7,000. I asked them to change the whole gas pipe in the yard (b/c it was old), they said $15,000 if I do the post-repair concrete path myself. Based on their statement I signed a contract for $15,000 to replace the whole gas piping in the backyard. Before they were going to show up next day, I asked them to delay the start of the work until Monday (3 days delay). I asked another gas company to do the diagnosis. The leak wasn't in the part of the gas pipe that was going from meter to the place the pipe enters the house. He isolated the segment that was causing the leak, then the leak was gone. I can send you the diagnosis from both companies. I would like First Class piping to pay me my $360 b/c their diagnosis was erroneous. Not only would I have paid the $7000 without having fixed the leak, but I would have damaged the concrete in the yard as well. In their diagnosis, First Class is saying there are Ts under the ground etc. which is absolutely to the case. He would have seen there were no Ts had he used his borescope camera as I asked him to do. I am asking them to pay me back my $360 which is the least they should do."

Rather than calling me outside to inspect the work, Mr. Ybarra told me he had my brother verify that there were no leaks at the main line and valve area. My brother is not the homeowner, was not part of the original agreement, and has no financial responsibility for this job. I was never asked to confirm the work before the hole was backfilled. Afterwards, when I reviewed the final invoice and report, several statements disturbed me: The promised dig and inspection up to the front edge of the sidewalk never happened. My primary concerns are: the unexpectedly high and poorly explained pricing (especially the additional $1,200 for the valve), the failure to perform the work as originally proposed (no dig or scope up to the sidewalk), the use of my brother instead of me to verify completion, and inaccurate statements in the final report about both the work performed and a warranty that was never disclosed. I am requesting an adjustment of the charges to reflect an amount in a range closer to Angi's list:$1696 up to "First Class's" quote of $2400. and written clarification of any warranty. I want this handled as an issue of integrity and transparency in how customers are treated and how work is represented."
