"This company has treated me well, especially Mike Museus, who worked over a year (last summer and this spring) to find out why there was a fluid leak in my new AC unit. The leak didn't affect the cooling of my home so I wasn't concerned, but Mike was persistent, even to returning finally with an "expert" to help diagnose the problem. What they found was that the A-coil above the furnace was full of tiny pinholes. On the day this was to be replaced, Steve came before 9 a.m. to remove the defective A-Coil and install the new one. He worked on it all day, without lunch or a break, leaving shortly after 5 p.m. There was no charge, as it was still under warranty. With all that, he still took the time to explain to me why the replacement was so important: that the defective A-Coil could eventually leak enough to damage the furnace below it. Because he was using solder, I believe, to install the new part, he turned on the ceiling fan in the adjacent room to mitigate the fumes. My only complaint is that a few of my vinyl floor tiles were damaged/discolored by the soldering process. That part of the flooring has had water damage before and is missing a few tiles so, after a day of hard work, he may have attributed the damage to work done before. It's not a big deal; I just wish he'd have said something. I have to hand it to Steve, though; he was working by himself, which frequently required him to leave the furnace area to check the outdoor AC unit, then rush back to the indoor work. I think it might have been a two-person job. At least, an assistant could have facilitated some of the work done."

"We called Cady Handyman Services and a pleasant gentleman discussed our deck project. <br />Cady Handyman scheduled one of his service tech to come out the follow morning. <br />The tech arrived promptly at the scheduled time with a friendly ready to fix our problem attitude. <br />We have raised nails and screws on our deck that always seem to reappear during winter months. <br />These raised nails and screws made snow removal just horrible. The Cady tech recommened that we remove many of the bad loose fastners and replaced with a new non-corosive styles of screws. <br /> After a complete walk through of our project we were extremely satified. <br /> <br />With our project completed we are now looking forward to the winter to come. <br /> <br /> With our total satisfaction with Cady Handyman Services we have again committed to them for our up coming basement project <br /> <br /> <br />The Fosland's <br />Bloomington, Mn."

"Entire process went well. Each and every time I communicated with Paramount, I got a quick and professional response. They were able to answer questions regarding how to deal with my bar height overhang and creatively able to utilize invisible bracket supports to prevent the need for some type of external bracket or corbel support. <br /> The price was competitive and the bid very detailed so I was able to make sure I was comparing apples to apples. I especially appreciated the extra time and effort they put in to figure out how to eliminate two seams on the island countertops without an extra charge required. <br /> Once we decided to go with Paramount, they directed me to a couple of granite wholesalers to choose the slabs, once the slabs were at Paramount, I stopped out to discuss the layout with them. Bryan did the measuring, on a Monday and a week and a half later on a Wed. the countertops were installed. Entire process less than two weeks. <br /> Lisa's communication through the entire process was professional and always very timely. <br /> Installation went as planned with the install crew dealing with the invisible brackets with some creative problem solving. Entire install took 4 hours for all 7 pieces. Looks great and they look beautiful! Would highly recommend to friends and family and would use them for future projects. <br />"

"I was expecting good work, given the previous reviews, but this blew me away! Hal has an attention to detail that is truly not seen in this day and age. He rounded the edges of every board used in the fence. The spacing between boards were all customized so that every section looked perfect. He created a deck that captured the style of the house, and also created a seamless transition between the decks on either side. The arbors are lovely. He talked me out of a few things and came up with better solutions that I love. He also listened to my ideas and went with them when they made sense. <br /> The guy is a craftsman! Little things matter: perfect beveled corners on the deck. A birdhouse needed to be re-located as part of the project. Hal noticed that the birds were still nesting in it, so worked around it and came back to relocate it when it was safe. Then, without my asking, he fixed the birdhouse so that it would be easier for me to clean it. <br /> I've had many, many glowing comments from friends, neighbors, and family. People I know who do carpentry for a living were also very impressed by his work. <br /> Things you should know: This is not a big operation. It's Hal plus a helper or two. You need to be flexible on starting dates, and it may take longer to finish than you think it will. Hal cuts all the boards in his shop before assembly on site - he really does. If it seems like the project should be starting and you don't know why he's not on site, that's why. The finished product is totally worth the wait. <br />"

"We first hired Paul in 2011 to handle the 'restoration' of a cedar sided greenhouse attached to our home (both exterior and interior). It proved to be a complex and challenging project. Thanks to Paul, there were no 'surprises'. His pricing was beyond fair. You don't need to be concerned about any overselling or lack or concern for quality. We were so impressed with the outcome on our greenhouse project that we didn't consider approaching other contractors to bid on projects we wanted completed this summer. <br /> Paul is unusually effective in his ability to assess a project, anticipate what will be required, articulate the project scope in a clear and concise proposal and keep the customer informed and aware every step of the way (i.e. no surprises). Each of our three projects presented unique and often challenging aspects---project # 1 required judgement calls on evaluating the scope of the project (e.g. how much siding/soffit material required replacement); managing angles and elevations that were problematic at best, and somehow meetIng a deadline so the painting company could proceed on schedule (remember June and all that rain--). Project #2 required regrading the ground beneath the deck and installing ledger flashing to resolve a water leakage problem. Project #3 , well, it's our garden! Details are everything, and Paul managed to deliver beyond our expectations. <br /> Obviously, we have great confidence in Paul Landmann and have no hesitation in giving him our highest recommendation. <br /> <br /> <br />"

"From the first contact to the last, dealing with GCM was fantastic! I put a job up for bid with four contractors that I found on Angie's List, and they were very prompt in contacting me - not quick enough to show they didn't have enough to do but not so long that it appeared they had too much on their plate. <br /> I set up an appointment to meet with Ben Meints to come out and look at what (I thought) needed to be fixed. He arrived promptly and was professional and personable throughout the entire appointment. We covered my initial concerns, and then proceeded to look at each area of repair. One of the big problems was potential interior water damage due to several leaks in a pair of windows and the basement area almost directly below the window. After having dealt with many contractors over the years, the level of attention to detail in his examination of the problem areas showed through. He was able to get to the true source of the problems by asking questions about what I was seeing, as well as looking at other factors and really just keeping his eyes open. Best example of this was when talking about the back deck, he started asking about the materials, any water issues around the sliding door and the basement area below it. What I thought was an issue with pest damage (the subfloor between the main floor and basement had been chewed through by mice) turned out really to be an issue with the flashing and j-channel between the deck and the house. Long story short, Ben was able to determine that the repairs that were truly needed were not as extensive as I thought they would be, and based his recommendations on what was needed to repair the damage and stop further damage to those affected areas. I was initially thinking in terms of tens of thousands of dollars to repair the damage, and was relieved and pleasantly surprised when the estimate came in at a fraction of that. <br /> When the work was to begin, Ben and the crew (Zach and Tom) showed up promptly. (They actually showed up earlier than I thought they would, which was a pleasant surprise.) The repairs went off without a hitch, and their pride in their work showed through. They were also respectful of the fact that my wife was working from home that day, and made sure they had minimal impact on her work. While all of the work couldn't be completed in one day, they got more done than I thought they would, and it was done well. They updated my wife on the progress before they began to clean up and prepare to leave, as I was still at work. I walked in just as they finished updating my wife on the progress, and they still took the time to go over the repairs with me and show me what had been completed and the remaining work to be done. When it became apparent that the weather would not allow them to complete the repairs the next day, Zach let me know he would return the next day the weather wouldn't interfere. He and Tom returned the following day, and the repairs were completed as promised. <br /> In all honesty, I contacted GCM because the general contractor I normally used was unavailable, and I needed the repairs done before the damage got worse and winter set in. After working with GCM, I think I have found a new first option for general contractors. They take very good care of their customers from start to finish, and I would recommend them to anyone. <br />"

"We purchased an older home, built in 1921, in the Summit Hill neighborhood of Saint Paul. It was in terrible condition -- a "fixer upper." It was the ugly duckling on the block. It was in bad need of new siding and windows throughout. We knew about Hoffman Weber (HW) and Jason Iwig from previous dealings at our old house in Bloomington. Those dealings resulted in a separate five-star review on Angie's List. So, when HW's estimate for windows and siding came back in the same ballpark as a couple of other very reputable companies, we immediately retained HW as our contractor. Jason met with us immediately after we committed to the project. He's extremely knowledgeable when it comes not only to the various siding products available but especially with respect to customizing design and aesthetic, with great attention to details like jut-outs, standard siding for lower and shake siding for upper, and decorative corbels etc. He was also able to provide several financing options from cash to a ten-year loan with relatively good rates. He was able to approve us on the spot. Jason then handed the project management over to Tim, who served as the foreman of the project by making regular visits and ensuring the crew had more than enough material on site to get the job done. Like Jason, Tim is extremely knowledgeable, thoughtful, and professional. He was always available to answer questions or address concerns, and always in a satisfactory (reasonable) manner. I'm sure all HW installers are great, but we feel we got particularly lucky with our installer crew, led by Boris. He was meticulous with his attention to detail, right down to the replacement of cable tv cords along the house. Everything had to be perfect with this guy. Yes, this meant a somewhat slower completion time, but I'll take slightly slow and meticulous over fast and sloppy any day. HW is the party that ultimately pays for this process, but it doesn't seem to bother them because our satisfaction always seemed of primary concern for them. Our 1921 house at 1116 Saint Clair Ave was an outlier in the neighborhood when we moved in, for all the wrong reasons. Now it's an outlier for all the right reasons. With Jason's help and artistic flair, we decided to use Hardie siding in the color Countrylane Red, with Arctic White trim. But we chose Birch Bark for the shake siding up on top, with a jut-out supported by corbels. We're happy. Our new neighbors are ecstatic. And passersby on Saint Clair stop to tell us how impressed they are. We really couldn't be happier with the job Hoffman Weber did for us, and we very sincerely hope those who read this review consider them for their project. Thanks."
