"Excellent. I needed a new base for the pool equipment which was not level. In addition, I wanted to have the pool completely renovated-new plaster/gunite. Went with Diamond Brite for the Aggregate Finish. The company works as a team led by the owner Kevin. The work was done on schedule. The company kept all moving along well. The communication was good-I was always able to reach someone whether it was Kevin or the office manager Elizabeth. The individuals working for S&R know their jobs and were able to provide helpful suggestions to improve all whether it was the equipment or the pool itself."

"I did not give a solid 5 star because they let the DE (during backwash) go onto the neighbors lawn which they were not happy about because they have 3 dogs. Otherwise they were knowledgable about pool service."

"C&D were really impressive. I had used them some years ago and (through no fault of theirs) I had to install a new liner. They came out promptly, did the work in a timely manner and I was swimming again once the pool had been refilled. I would heartily recommend them to anyone who needs any kind of pool work done."

"After purchasing the "Big Deal" for a "Deluxe Home Surge Protection Plus 12-Point Safety Inspection", I was promptly contacted by One Call to schedule my appointment, which was nice. I also appreciated that I was able to correspond through e-mail, since I was out of town. Before the appointment date, I was asked to provide more information on my electrical panel so that (I was told) the electrician could bring the proper supplies. I couldn't find the panel information, so I instead took pictures and sent them. These showed that I had an older style Pushmatic electrical panel.
On the appointment day when the technician arrived, I learned that my electrical panel could not accommodate a whole-house surge protector because of its age. I felt a bit misled about this because I had sent pictures showing that it was an older panel, so they likely knew at that point that they wouldn't be able to perform the installation. Instead, the technician (who was nice and personable) tried to sell me on a new electrical panel to replace my "obsolete" Pushmatic panel. Both options were for 150 amp panels, with the choice of aluminum ($3954, including whole-house surge protector) or copper ($5,766). I was a bit taken aback by this, as this is a major expense and, again, I believe One Call was aware of my older panel and that the surge protector installation I had purchased through the "Big Deal" would not be able to be installed. At the very least, the Big Deal description should have explained that some (I suspect many) panels cannot accommodate this surge protector installation.
At the time of the visit, I did not commit to spending nearly $4,000 on electrical upgrades, as I wanted to research a bit more to find out if the upgrade was necessary (i.e., is my panel a safety hazard if left as-is?) and to find out if the quoted price for a new panel was reasonable. After speaking to my general electrician, I learned that my current electrical panel really doesn't need upgrading (though it certainly wouldn't be a bad idea to do at some point) and that there's nothing in particular about the type of panel I have that should present a safety concern. Moreover, the quoted price of ~$4,000 is very high, as I learned that a 150 amp panel can be installed for closer to $2000 (or less).
In the end, my impression was favorable about the demeanor and friendliness of the employees I dealt with, but I was not happy that the company was not very forthcoming about the fact that the surge protector could not be installed, and instead used the opportunity to try to sell me on an extremely expensive and (arguably) overpriced upgrade. In that sense, I did not get my money's worth.

"I purchased the installation through Lowe's and this was the plumber who I was provided. They came out to do a detail (a part of the Lowe's process). That day Rick and another associate whose name I can't remember arrived on time, introduced themselves, were efficient in taking the proper measurements and making sure Lowe's would know what parts were needed for the work I was requesting. Once Lowe's received that info, I went to the store and they helped me pick out all of the items I needed for the work to be completed (at Lowe's you are responsible to pick out and bring the items home or pay extra to get the items picked up by the contractor, I decided to get everything home myself to save a little money). The day of installation I was called when Rick when he was on his way, he was on time, and once again introduced himself. He and his associates made sure to get the new toilet from my truck and carried up upstairs. There was an issue with the sink that was purchased being 1/2 too small (not their fault) he was so great about it, we were able to work it out where a family member of mine went to Lowe's to get the correct size sink while he installed the toilet. He even thank them a few times for doing that, even though it was not his fault the sink was the wrong size. Everything installed looks and great and so far is working perfectly! I was very impressed by how professional, courteous, and friendly Rick, as well as everyone I interacted with from this company was. I would definitely call them if I need future work done that they provide.

" Dan came out as a subcontractor to basement waterproofing company to install two new receptacles for the two sump pumps that had been installed. While there we asked him to fix a problem quad receptacle and inspect the existing basement and garage electrical for any code issues. He pointed out the exceptions and we asked him to go ahead and do the necessary work while he was there. Dan was very professional and explained all the work he would perform. He was there the entire day and everything has worked  fine since. I would not hesitate to call Friendly for any additional work I may need to have performed. "

FAQs for swimming pool heaters installation and replacement projects in Dayton, NJ

Yes, you can add a heater to an existing pool. A pro can retrofit a heater to nearly any in-ground or above-ground pool. Adding a heater allows you to start the swim season earlier, finish it later, and maintain a steady water temperature in between. Many owners schedule the job during a larger pool upgrade, but it also works as a standalone project. Professional installation ties the new unit into the existing pump and plumbing for safe, efficient operation.

Most owners switch the heater on a day or two before they plan to swim, then shut it down afterward. Reaching the target temperature can take 24 to 72 hours, depending on pool size and outdoor conditions. Using a cover while the heater is off helps hold the heat and keeps energy costs in check.

Pool heaters can freeze if left exposed to extreme conditions. Freezing can damage internal heater components, potentially leading to costly pool repairs. Cycling water, covering the heater, and regular maintenance help prevent freezing. Sealing or winterizing your heater also protects it during the season—this involves draining water from the heater and its components.

Pool heaters operate with lifespans spanning from seven to 30 years. Gas and propane models last seven to 12 years, while electric and solar heaters perform efficiently for up to 30 years. Consistent professional maintenance and routine inspections extend the heater’s life and improve its performance, ensuring a safe and reliable heating system for your pool.

Before hiring a pool heater installation contractor, conduct thorough research by reviewing online feedback and gathering recommendations from trusted sources. Contact multiple professionals to discuss pricing, request references, and understand the complete installation process. This careful evaluation ensures you select a qualified contractor who delivers high-quality service and a successful installation.
