"We had a serious water heater leak throughout 4 rooms. Rick had the floor dismantled and replaced - better than it had been originally. The original installers had not staggered the planks — he did and the floors look better than ever. Rick and the men who did the work couldn't have been more professional while getting the job done!! So happy with the results that I would definitely hire Rick again for any future work needing to be done!"

"I contacted Peter to repair an issue I was having with my heating system. After scheduling the work months ago, he arrived on time and did a great job. He's a very busy guy but very professional. The best vendor I've dealt with on Angie's List."

"
  • I got this service through one of Angie's List deals and picked this company because of the A rating and that they would clean all ductwork and returns for one system. Other deals I saw limited ducts and returns. Company based in Virginia, but had an office in Boston suburbs. Service tech called ahead of time to say approx. time of arrival. Explained the service to me before beginning and then installed a vacuum hose into one of the ducts and started at the top floor, opening each heat vent and blowing with compressed air down to cellar ductwork. He carefully carried dusty vent units outside to clean them off before replacing them. I have 9 heating ducts in our system. This was the first time we tried this cleaning and we were very pleased with results.

"Very well. Rob was punctual and informative. He took his time explaining to me in colloquial terminology what was happening, not only with the intended project, but a few other things going on in our old house. He then went about working diligently replacing the drain and faucets in our tub. The work took a day and he charged far less then another quote we got from another plumber. Rob had to cut through a very thick and tough tile and cement wall to access the drain. Once the plumbing was installed, he then covered the hole with a plate which turned out to be a good option for the tub aesthetically."

"My impression of the company is OK, most of the repointing work was done by an unexperienced worker (cousin of the owner) but the owner and his father did check on him and did some touch ups. 2nd part of the job was to install a rain cap and I had to wait several weeks before they came to put it on top. 3rd part, adding waterproofing to the chimney, which will be a quick job, is still outstanding. I might call them in a week if I don't see them until then."

FAQs for radiant floor heating system installation projects in Douglas, MA

Heated driveways either heat up with electric coils or from hot water flowing through pipes, coming from your boiler. These electric cables and pipes are generally only a couple of inches under the surface. As they heat, they heat up the thermal mass of the asphalt or concrete, which melts away the snow and ice. They usually run for an extra period after all the snow is melted to dry out the surface and avoid ice accumulation.

Heated driveways will melt off snow at a rate of about two to three inches per hour. The actual rate of melt depends on the temperature you have the heating set at, the type of driveway you have, and the climate you're in. Your driveway will melt much faster in 32 degrees than it will at zero degrees. So expect your results to vary a bit.

Heated driveways may crack if the embedded heating elements are positioned too near the surface or if a system malfunction occurs. This issue arises when the coils or tubes are not installed correctly, resulting in stress on the pavement. Once the heating system is fully corrected, the necessary repair involves sealing the cracks and resurfacing. This process restores strength and ensures lasting durability.

When installed and maintained correctly, a heated driveway lasts between 15 and 20 years, on average. Proper installation using professional standards and regular maintenance of components such as the boiler and wiring guarantees long-lasting performance. Consistent care and timely repairs secure the system's durability, ensuring reliable operation throughout its expected lifespan.

A heated driveway increases home value by enhancing curb appeal and ensuring safety during snowstorms. This reliable system adds a high-value feature that stands out in areas with heavy snow, reducing the need for manual snow removal. Homeowners benefit from improved aesthetics and energy efficiency, which contributes significantly to overall property marketability.
