"He came out and did what we had asked. He also gave us some recommendations to some other things that we needed to have done; he was very informative. He repaired our fence. He also helped strengthened the fence with a tie wire. Four years later the fence is holding up just great."

"After I approved the drapes, I was sent an invoice for $700. I paid the invoice. It's been over a year and despite numerous emails (over a dozen) with Amanda Zettel of Homemade Design, I still have not received the drapes or a refund. I was very satisfied with all of Homemade Design's work up until this experience."

"Palm Construction used subcontractors at every stage (not unusual), but there was little to no oversight. Communication was a problem. I am doubtful that the product (Trex decking) was installed according to **manufacturers guidelines** and worry what that may mean to the longevity of the final product. Some parts of the install were handled brilliantly and with finesse. Other parts were done hurriedly, resulting in damage to the substructure. Palm has made efforts to repair or redo, as necessary, which I appreciate, but some of their promises fell by the wayside."

"Ron did several projects around our house in both May and July of last year and did a fine job, communcated well, cleaned up after the work etc. At that point I would totally have reccomended him to anyone, but then in October he came to do an estimate on a kitchen remodel, and never got back to us or replied to our subesequent attempts to contact him.
Communication is key to me. Even if he had just said "sorry I'm too busy right now" I would feel differently, but radio silence is completely unprocessional IMO and I wouldn't work with him again because of this.

"Overall, it hasn't turned out the way we would have hoped. The guy they sent for the electrical work wasn't very experienced and kept shocking himself throughout the job. He used the wrong gauges and performed the work improperly. We had to hire someone else to fix what he did. We purchased the tile and the tiler showed up and was asking me if I had materials like drywall mud and tools. I thought he should have been prepared to have those items. The job shouldn't have taken longer than 3-4 days. The tiler, Tom, would sometimes show up around 10 and stay til 7. There was one day he didn't even show up. He would take calls on the job and talk to our neighbors. The general contractor came back to fix where the tiler had done things poorly. The general contractor fired the tiler on the 6th day and the job was still not complete at that time.  The general contractor, Jon Blake, has been good and our final contact with him will be tonight to discuss pricing. Everything looks good now, but it has taken much longer than expected."

FAQs for blinds or shades repair projects in Duvall, WA

If you're wondering whether repairing your blinds is worth it, consider the quality and age of your blinds. For high-end or custom blinds, repairing them can preserve their quality, functionality, and design, making repair a smart choice. Immediate repairs maintain the original look and performance. However, if your blinds are over six years old, extensively damaged, or of lower quality, replacing them might be more cost-effective, as new blinds offer better efficiency and modern technology. Weigh the repair costs against the benefits of replacement to make the best decision for your situation.

When damage undermines the integrity and appearance of your blinds, replacement becomes the clear option. You should replace your blinds when damage to slats or fabric prevents you from obtaining an exact match, thereby compromising appearance and function. Severe damage increases repair complexity and expense. Replacing blinds not only restores superior performance but also creates an opportunity for aesthetic upgrades and lasting benefits.

You should plan to replace your blinds at least every 10 years, with clear signs of wear, such as discoloration, deterioration, or functional issues, emerging by five years. Regular evaluation of style, quality, and performance supports an informed decision. While minor repairs may temporarily extend usability, a complete replacement secures optimal operation and updated design.

Establish a regular maintenance routine to keep your blinds looking and functioning their best. Clean them regularly with mild, specialized products and follow the manufacturer's recommended usage guidelines. UV-blocking window film can protect against fading and warping from sun exposure. Regular inspections and proactive maintenance will preserve their appearance and performance, extending their overall lifespan.

If you pull the blind string and it does not move, it indicates a malfunction in the mechanism, such as a broken cord, a jammed cord lock, or a stuck component. Inspect the string for breaks and examine the headrail for any obstructions. Replace the defective cord or cord lock as necessary to restore proper operation and maintain functionality.

Yes, you can replace your blind string yourself by using a replacement kit available at home improvement stores. Accurate measurement of the string diameter is essential for a perfect fit. Gather the necessary tools and follow the manufacturer’s instructions rigorously to secure a safe, lasting fix. If the task demands more time than anticipated, hiring a professional is advisable to avoid further damage.
