"Beautifully repaired 95 year old chimney thanks to EMR Masonry. Bert's bid was competitive and work habits outstanding. He needed to replace one brick and was determined to find one that matches. Striking out at the brickyards, he literally unearthed one from our side yard, where it had been waiting for decades. Amazing. Very happy with the results and highly recommend EMR Masonry."

"Fantastic - Scott Taylor agreed to rebuild our large, old deck even though it was at our cabin out in the mountains. He then had many good ideas about how to redesign the original deck in ways that were more efficient and also looked better. He was very communicative and explained everything as we went along. He and his team worked day and night, even in the pouring rain and during the challenging time of the COVID-19 pandemic. I would definitely hire him again, he is so professional and also very personable."

"The job went very well. We had a stone and mortar wall fail. Many stones were very large (2 - 3 man). They were able to patch things up and work with our schedule, even on a weekend by request! I will definitely use A&J again."

"We recently purchased a beautiful older house. The kitchen was newly remodled, but they left an old and somewhat damaged wood parque floor and we decided to replace it with tile before we moved in. Based on favorable reviews on Angie's list, we decided to check out Seattle Tile. We also wanted a place that could handle both our selection/purchase of tile and our installation project. The folks at the store were very helpful in making recommendations and assisting us with our selection of tile, which took a couple of trips in. While we were in the showroom, we met with Tom (the installation guy) and scheduled an appointment for him to come out to the house the next day. He spent about half an hour at our house taking measurements, asking questions and giving suggestions, and emailed us a bid the following day. We were very impressed by Tom's knowledge and enthusiasm/passion for what he did. We didn't have a heating source in the kitchen and on his recommendation we decided to add radiant floor heating to the project, and Tom work with us to find a way to make that happen within our budget. They were pretty busy, so it was about 2 1/2 weeks from when we hired them before they could start the work, but it was well worth the wait. The installation was very professionally done and the tile looks teriffic. There ended up being more work involved than they had anticipated and accounted for in their bid, but we weren't charged any overage. One other thing that really impressed me was Tom's patience and willingness to share his knowledge and recommendations. They were very responsive to our questions and made sure they got our input on all key design decisions (e.g., transitions to hardwood flooring, spacing, how the tile would be placed, etc.). It was a great experience, and I would highly recommend them. <br /> <br />"

"I called Robert after finding him on Angie's List.  He happened to be in the area when I called, so he came immediately and looked at the window opening that needed to be re-bricked after the window was enlarged.  He gave me a price and said that, since it was a small job, he could fit me in between other jobs he had in the area.  He came a few days later and did the work.  The area where he and his co-worker reinstalled the brick  looks great, and I have no doubt that the quality of the work is excellent. True craftsmanship. "

"Replacement of chimney went very well and I am very pleased with the look. Previous chimney was leaking through mortar cracks and was faced with basalt rock. It would have been very expensive to tear down and replace and Chris suggested several brick colors, dropped them over for us to consider, and drew some pictures of replacement chimney to match mid century house and neighborhood. He also reused old cap material on new chimney and was able to use material to repair rear brick chimney cap."

"We hired John based on recommendation of our other primary contractor. John has 40 years of experience doing remodels, and specifically in laying tile. John is extremely meticulous and professional in his work ethic, and we benefitted tremendously from the breadth and depth of his years of experience. He sent us to his preferred vendor to select tile, who were very friendly and provided expert guidance regarding the pros and cons when we were selecting tile. They also provided a nice contractor discount on the materials. When our old floor tile was removed we discovered that there was mold on the subfloor, and the floor wasn't exactly level. John was able to seal the subfloor, while simultaneously leveling it as well. He recommended replacing the wooden cove base around the perimeter of the master bath with bullnose tile, which is much more sturdy. Once he completed the floor tile he began working on our shower tile. Again, John was very conscientious in his attention to detail, and always touched base with us to make sure everything he was doing delivered on the vision we had for the final product. When all was said and done, we had a "spa-worthy" master bath that is a amazing retreat. There were so many value-adds John added to the job, small details that, all together, made the final product so much better than even we could have anticipated or imagined. We cannot recommend John enough, he is not only an exceptional craftsman but just a super nice guy too. His prices were extremely reasonable, considering what the other contractors quoted us. If you're lucky enough to hire him, I can tell you you'll be very satisfied."

FAQs for brick or stone siding: install or completely replace projects in Duvall, WA

Brick siding offers numerous advantages, including high durability and resistance to harsh weather conditions, requiring minimal maintenance and lasting for generations. It provides natural insulation, enhancing energy efficiency by regulating indoor temperatures year-round. Brick is fire-resistant, improving home safety, and reduces external noise for a quieter indoor environment. Its timeless aesthetic appeal boosts curb appeal and can increase your home's resale value.

Yes, you can add brick to an existing house. One option is to remove the current siding and install full brick masonry, which involves laying traditional bricks with mortar for a solid brick exterior. Alternatively, you can opt for brick veneer siding, a thinner layer of real or manufactured brick applied over the existing structure. Brick veneer is typically more affordable and easier to install while still providing the aesthetic benefits of brick. Both methods can enhance your home's appearance and value.

Yes, installing brick siding often provides a significant return on investment. With an average ROI of around 77%, and some returns exceeding 80%, brick siding enhances curb appeal, energy efficiency, and longevity, making your home more attractive to potential buyers and potentially increasing resale value.

Brick siding is known for its exceptional longevity, often lasting over 100 years when properly maintained. Regular maintenance, like repointing mortar joints, ensures its durability over time. Brick veneer, while thinner than full brick masonry, is durable and can last up to 50 years or more with proper care. Both options offer long-lasting protection and value for your home.

When choosing brick siding, consider your budget, as costs can vary depending on brick type and installation method. Also, consider your desired aesthetic; different bricks offer various colors, textures, and styles to complement your home's architecture. Installation time and complexity are factors, with options like brick veneer being quicker and less labor-intensive than full brick masonry. Additionally, assess the maintenance requirements and durability to select the best option for your long-term needs.

Alternatives to brick siding include vinyl siding, which is cost-effective and low-maintenance and offers a variety of colors and styles. Wood siding provides a natural, classic look but requires more upkeep to prevent weather damage. Fiber cement siding is durable and can mimic the appearance of wood or masonry without the high maintenance. Each alternative has its own advantages, so consider factors like budget, aesthetics, and maintenance when making your choice.
