Small jobs welcome

"Jeremy went above and beyond installing a gas shut off valve for us. Answer to our prayer because we couldn’t find anyone without a lengthy waiting period and outrageous pricing. Even helped move the old stove. Great guy. Great service. "

"Dave Hufnagel and his associate were knowledgeable, efficient, courteous and personable. I was able to schedule a service call much more easily than I have generally experienced and for an appointment soon after my call. The problem was diagnosed and promptly corrected."

"We own our home in Washington PA and over the last few years have had plumbers come out to unclog drains, clean out sewer lines and do some small repairs. Recently we needed a water main shut off valve replaced; we tried McKean’s plumbing and heating for this project. The plumber showed up on time, completed the replacement quickly, replaced an additional toilet shut off valve and did a fill tower swap out for me. He was highly efficient and completed all the tasks in about 1.5 hours and respected my home while he was there. McKean’s will be my go-to plumbing company from here on out. If you are looking for a reputable company, I would highly recommend them to take care of your family or business. The Cooper’s "

FAQs for gas piping projects in Eighty Four, PA

Plumbers with proper licensing and credentials install and relocate gas lines. When hiring a professional, verify they have experience with gas systems and all required certifications. Some homeowners choose to work with plumbers specializing in natural gas installations, as they have extensive experience with similar projects and understand the safety requirements.

The timeline for gas line relocation varies based on project complexity, permit processing, and inspection scheduling. The physical labor takes a few hours to one day, depending on the line length. However, the actual installation work represents only part of the overall project timeline. Your contractor should provide a specific timeframe based on your circumstances and local permitting requirements.

Your gas supply must be shut off during the relocation process. This safety measure prevents gas leaks while connections are being modified. Plan for this temporary service interruption by making alternative arrangements for cooking, heating, or other gas-dependent systems in your home. The shut-off generally only lasts for a portion of the work, often a few hours.

Relocating gas lines to connect new appliances is a common reason for this type of project. Whether you're installing a gas stove, fireplace, dryer, or outdoor grill, a professional can determine the best route for extending your existing gas system. The cost will depend on the distance between your current gas line and the new appliance location.

Gas line work is not suitable for DIY projects. Natural gas is highly flammable and potentially lethal if not handled correctly. Gas leaks can be difficult to detect without specialized equipment. Professional plumbers have the proper training, tools, and experience to safely relocate gas lines while ensuring compliance with local building codes and safety standards.
