"I recently had the pleasure of working with Ben and his team on a major concrete project at my property in San Mateo, and I cannot recommend them highly enough. Our project involved constructing a 180-foot-long sidewalk and a 16-car garage driveway on a busy street, which required precision, organization, and expertise. Ben and his team exceeded my expectations in every way. From the very beginning, Ben was professional, transparent, and detail-oriented. He walked me through the entire process, including securing the necessary city permits and clearly marking all underground utility lines to avoid any issues. His attention to detail and proactive approach gave me complete confidence in his abilities. During the project, we encountered an unexpected challenge: two segments of a corrupted underground sewer line. Ben handled the situation with remarkable professionalism and flexibility. He coordinated seamlessly with my plumber, adjusting his team's schedule to allow for the replacement of a total of 40 feet of 3" sewer lines. Additionally, he replaced the incoming copper water line without any delays or complications. This level of collaboration and problem-solving truly set Ben apart. The execution of the project was flawless. Ben and his team were incredibly organized and committed to staying on schedule. They arrived early every morning and worked diligently until late afternoon, ensuring consistent progress. It was clear that Ben treated my project as a top priority, and his dedication as a project manager was evident throughout. The quality of their work is outstanding. The finished sidewalk and driveway are not only functional but also aesthetically pleasing. Ben's quote was fair and reasonable, and he delivered exceptional value for the investment. I am so grateful to have found Ben and his team. If you're looking for a reliable, skilled, and professional concrete contractor who can handle unexpected challenges with ease, Ben is the best person for the job. I will definitely hire him again for any future projects and highly recommend him to anyone in need of top-notch concrete work. Thank you, Ben and team, for making this project such a positive experience! Your expertise, flexibility, and dedication are truly appreciated."

"We completed a full master bathroom plus master closet remodel with Brother & Brother Builders in March 2020. Ido, the project manager, and the crew, Ricardo and Ismael, performed excellent work at transforming our bathroom from an awkward and dated 1960s layout to a modern, beautiful masterpiece. Selection Process: We interviewed eight contractors for our master bathroom remodel. We chose Brother & Brother Builders for a variety of reasons. Ido, the project manager, spent a reasonable amount of time with us to understand the scope of the project, including asking questions and offering new insights to challenges. He provided us with a quote of the project cost before even leaving our house. The written quote included an appropriate level of detail about what the project would entail. The price seemed reasonable compared to the other quotes we had received. We felt comfortable talking with Ido. He was not overly pushy to close the sale. Brother & Brother followed up on multiple occasions regarding our interest in pursuing the work further. Before/Design Process: This is our first home and our first major remodel. We were, understandably, nervous. Brother & Brother provided design service through one of their project managers, Roi. Roi provided some valuable suggestions to the design process when he came to our home. He provided nice 3-D images of what our remodeled space might look like. As we were still unsure as to colors/styles/etc., the images gave us a good idea of what the finished layout would be, if not much about how it would actually look when it was done. In retrospect, we would have benefited from hiring an interior designer to help us walk through the process of style/color/tile selection. We spent a considerable amount of time trying to decide colors and styles. Hiring a trained designer would have saved time and stress overall. Construction: The renovation, from start to finish, was seven weeks, not including installation of the shower glass enclosure. The last two weeks of the renovation were during the first two weeks of the COVID-19 shelter in place restrictions. The initial timeline was 5-6 weeks. With consideration of the COVID epidemic, we were very pleased that the project was completed so close to the initial timeline. We communicated with Ido nearly every day via Whats App. He came to the house only a few times during the process -- mainly during inspections or to collect payment -- but, he was available via Whats App at any time. Ido provided valuable help finding us a vanity and countertop through his contacts. He provided some excellent suggestions at going with a more streamlined look that we are glad for now. He also provided encouragement and pushed us toward making decisions in a timely manner, all of which was needed and appreciated. We enjoyed working with him throughout the whole process. Ricardo and Ismael, the on-site crew, were wonderful to work with. Every day, they cleaned up the bathroom/bedroom work area, as well as their work areas on the side of the house. There was very little extra to clean up when the renovation was complete. They were extremely respectful in their interactions with our family, as well as being in our home every day. Ricardo, the lead contractor, checked in with us every step of the way to confirm what we wanted and needed. Ricardo had a great attitude throughout the entire process -- positive and willing to make changes or go above and beyond. At one point, he realized that we might need to order more tile for the shower wall, which would have been challenging regardless of the global pandemic, but even more challenging with it. He managed to find enough pieces in the remnant tile to complete the entire shower and no one would be the wiser looking at it -- a puzzle masterpiece. Completion: We are extremely happy with the finished product! We feel that the overall quality of the work is excellent. We highly recommend Brother & Brother Builders and would hire them again."

"I have used About Green twice in the past 3 years. Our backyard has a lot of trees and very tall tree-type hedges. Since it was a major part of the reason we bought the home, we want to maintain the health of the landscaping back there. Vince and his team scaled and thinned/trimmed a couple very tall redwood trees, removed an unhealthy leaning tree and trimmed/maintained many other trees on our property. Vince is a pleasure to work with and very friendly. He is extremely knowledgeable in all of the trees that we have and suggests what service to do on each type of tree based on his knowledge of each. He explains it very clearly to us who don't know much about the subject. His work is quality and his goal is 100% customer satisfaction. On this last visit, they spent a few hours trimming a tree-type hedge and when I came home from work, I wanted it around 3 feet lower. Even though it meant repeating the work for a few hours, Vince did it without any argument. To me, that was a true test of customer satisfaction. They complete the work in a timely manner, over a 2 day period. They cleaned up the yard like new and disposed of a ton of trimmings (never seen so much in my life). I never even consider another tree service besides About Green. I plan to have him come out after summer to suggest some landscaping ideas as I haven't used him for that before.."

"Nato and his team were prompt, professional, and worked at a very reasonable price. He was not much for providing a detailed written contract, which made me very anxious. However, he was a good as his word and met his schedule as promised. The job required 10 circuits on a double lot filled with mature and dense landscaping and lots of pathways to cross under. We were impressed - in fact surprised - with how it was all done with minimal disruption to the plantings and it was almost invisible when it was complete. Well done, Nato!"

"Great company to work with! Easy to communicate with and very prompt with services. I am impressed with the overall design of the patio. We were worried about the safety of a large step down and SSCK was great to create a safe and attractive design that fit our needs. Would definitely hire again!!"

"It went well. The gave me an initial start date of the end of July but actually started the work 2 weeks early. Ron Harmer, the Design Consultant & Project Manager, was AMAZING to work with. I had several companies/people come out to provide and estimate and Ron was by far the best. He efficiently measured and used CAD software to create a floorpan of the project. Ron was always available when I call or at least called me right back. I had an existing privacy pergola they had to move to do the work. That is when we discovered that the wood was rotted. Ron worked with me to come up with a relatively cost effective solution and then they executed the solution effectively. I only spoke to Nai, the construction manager, a couple of times and he was responsive."

"I decided to have the wood siding which was on front half of house removed and have stucco installed. I got three bids, Exteria Construction and Consulting (General Contractor), SOD Builders, and DOTY plastering and drywall. Steve at Exteria was knowledgeable and answered questions, SOD just gave a quote which was way to high. Sheldon of DOTY was also extremely knowledgeable and answered all my questions.
I decided to go with Sheldon due to his patience and knowledge on stucco. I also decided on Einswell Rapid Set (where the scratch and brown is done in one coat and final finish coat in two steps) vs. traditional scratch, brown and finish conventional stucco 3 step method. Sheldon's was quote was also competitive. He itemized so if I did not need plywood or insulation installed, I would not have to pay.
For install Salvador Sr and his crew showed up. The DOTY plastering and drywall business is co-owned by Sheldon (who seems to be the sales guy writing the bids) and Salvador Sr who co-ordinates the actual work. Salvador and his team is also friendly, easy to talk to, answers questions and all his team members take great pride in their work and it shows in their finish results.
His team quickly mobilized, started covering areas where wood, stucco debris would fall. They managed to get the wood siding off and also took off about 6" of stucco from side and bottom, so they could tie in the lathe. The put up two layers of Bituthene (black tar paper) over the plywood which they stapled. Then they put up 16-18 gauge wire mesh to install metal lathe and used 2" nails to secure. They also put some caulk over the nails. They completed teardown, and prep (Bituthene, wire mesh, lathe) in the same day, took about 7 hours and then cleaned up after themselves to pickup nails, wood boards, etc and also washed driveway clean.
They came the following day, taped off all the windows, covered the door, removed the light fixture and covered the mailbox. Salvador Jr, Salvador Sr son was also on hand to help out, nice way to see family tradition and business being carried on and passed down. The team started mixing the einsenwall rapid set cement with sand (23 shovels of sand to one bag of einsenwall mix) and 3-4 gallons of water on the street so as not to get my driveway dirty. They carried up the stucco mortar up by bucket. They had put up some scaffolding on the side of the house as they had to get up to the second story of the house. Started to apply the stucco about 3/4" thick with a nice smooth finish. I asked Salvador how they know how to get the stucco to 3/4" thick and he showed his Darby tool which lets them get a smooth finish and gauge the thickness, also the distance from metal wire mesh to window edge when measured is near 3/4".
Salvador also installed two small control joints to avoid stucco from cracking, so the stucco was split into three sections. I had read CTS Cement datasheet who recommend control joints be placed every 12 feet. The datasheet also said to keep stuccofog misted wet for 90mins after final application. I asked Salvador to keep fog misting the stucco as it dries through hydration for 90 minutes. He had brought a handheld sprayer which puts out a fine water spray mist and diligently kept the stucco wet so it could cure properly. They cleaned up after themselves and said they would return in about a week to do the final finish coat with color and texture.
I conversed with Angelica over email and occasionally by phone to get invoice/ receipts for payments. She was pleasant and prompt in following up.
Dennis and another co-worker showed up for the finish coat, they taped off the windows, covered the roof and front door. Mixed up the color, showed me a sample which was way off!! He skimmed on a thin layer then later realized they had to mix two bags to get the color I wanted which they did. The final color is a lot closer to what Dunne Edwards paint color I will have painted later. Dennis did a fantastic job matching the existing texture of stucco on the rest of the house. He also reattached the gutters they had taken off and cleaned up after themselves. They finished the final finish coat in around six hours.
In summary, DOTY plastering and drywall did a superb job in removing wood siding, putting on Bituthene, metal wire mesh, lathe and eisenwall rapid set stucco with final texture match. They also put the gutters back up that they took down. They were courteous enough to add color to the final finish coat which was close to my final paint selection, while not a perfect match its close. I also liked the water table they put on, as the stucco they applied was thicker than the stucco I already had but this really adds a little pizazz to the final stucco look, the water table can be painted same as the trim color to really add some flair to the house. 5 stars
