"After waiting an hour and 1/2 for an oil change, and paying 2 times the cost of normal places. and a recommendation of replacing the oil filter,  the "change oil" light in my car wouldn't turn off.  I reset the system, tried other things, etc, nothing worked.  I called our local Ford dealership, they said it sounded like the oil filter needed to be replaced.  I took it in, and after waiting a 1/2hr, yes indeed, the filter was so filthy, the car didn't recognize that the oil had been changed.  Needless to say, I won't be going back to Snyder's.  I was sad to come to this conclusion but this was my second visit, both times taking well over an hour to be completed.  <br /> I'm trying to patron small businesses, they had decent reviews on here, but they take too long, are too expensive, and don't take the initiative to complete simple tasks like changing a filthy oil filter.  (No one even came to ask if I would like this done.)  At least at the dealership I got an oil change, new filter, fluids topped off, tires rotated, all for $40. <br />"

"Extremely well. Bill Bennett has been with Isaac and its predecessor for many years and knows our house and his business. Extremely knowledgeable and friendly. Isaac offered a special for both cleanings and tuneups for $169, and that plus tax is the price we paid."

"Overall we are very pleased with the work that was done.  The first appointment was made for 2:00 in the afternoon, I had to leave work at 1:00 in order to be there on time, unfortunately I received a call at 2:30 letting me know they weren't going to be able to make it.  Rescheduled for the next day and was told they would be there between 8:30 and noon, received a call at 8:30 letting me know they were on their way.  They were able to replace the sink in the bathroom that I had purchased, unfortunately they had to also replace the pipes under the sink because they were corroding.  They showed me the pipes and explained everything.  The sink in the basement is an old cast iron sink and did not have any handles or faucets.  They were able to order the new faucets and install them within a few days.  They were very professional and I would definitely use them again. <br />"

"From start to finish this was a great experience. From the first time I called Pat for an estimate (he spent 1.5 hrs at my house vs. 5-10 minutes from the other companies I called) to the last time he came by to "make sure everything was working fine," this was great. He did a beautiful job. He was just a little bit more expensive than the other estimates, but worth every penny. Very prompt, always cleaned up after himself, finished when he promised, always showed up when he promised, and was kind to my family. The job looks great. He even labeled all the pipes, valves, pumps, etc. for me. I really can not think of how this job could have gone any better. I asked for a few changes in the middle of the job and he made them with no questions asked. This was one of the best experiences I have had with a tradesman. I have additional plumbing jobs and will use him again and will recommend him to anyone who asks for great plumber. Super job and thanks!!!"

"It went great. We had an appointment scheduled, so waited there  - no long wait at all. And what is nice about going to a locally-owned shop, instead of a chain, is they don't come out with a long (and expensive) list of recommended repairs. If something needs to get fixed, they let you know. But if all is okay, they send you on your way. <br />"

FAQs for gas piping projects in Elmira, NY

Plumbers with proper licensing and credentials install and relocate gas lines. When hiring a professional, verify they have experience with gas systems and all required certifications. Some homeowners choose to work with plumbers specializing in natural gas installations, as they have extensive experience with similar projects and understand the safety requirements.

The timeline for gas line relocation varies based on project complexity, permit processing, and inspection scheduling. The physical labor takes a few hours to one day, depending on the line length. However, the actual installation work represents only part of the overall project timeline. Your contractor should provide a specific timeframe based on your circumstances and local permitting requirements.

Your gas supply must be shut off during the relocation process. This safety measure prevents gas leaks while connections are being modified. Plan for this temporary service interruption by making alternative arrangements for cooking, heating, or other gas-dependent systems in your home. The shut-off generally only lasts for a portion of the work, often a few hours.

Relocating gas lines to connect new appliances is a common reason for this type of project. Whether you're installing a gas stove, fireplace, dryer, or outdoor grill, a professional can determine the best route for extending your existing gas system. The cost will depend on the distance between your current gas line and the new appliance location.

Gas line work is not suitable for DIY projects. Natural gas is highly flammable and potentially lethal if not handled correctly. Gas leaks can be difficult to detect without specialized equipment. Professional plumbers have the proper training, tools, and experience to safely relocate gas lines while ensuring compliance with local building codes and safety standards.
