"My overall experience was thorough, courteous, professional, reasonable and kind. After contacting JACX they responded with the quickness, accessed our needs, made an appointment with us and reported on time with professionalism, pleasantness and safety as a priority. Every step of the process was explained in detail as well as the plan of action to be taken depending on the test results of the tile samples which were being taken and tested for asbestos. The next day I was contacted with the great news that all was clear; no asbestos. It was just a pleasant encounter with JACX and I would highly recommend them if you are in need of the services their company provide. Thank you."

"BDS came out and inspected. Let me know that I didn't have the type of asbestos that "had" to be removed. He said the insulation had been done very well and didn't need to be removed. He also told me that if I had concerns about the stability of the insulation that I could have an air quality test done on an annual basis."

"Brian quoted removing old asbestos boiler pipe insulation in our home. Brian and his team arrived on time and finished early. The work was fantastic and they cleaned up well afterwards. Plan to hire again for lead testing."

"Mike and his team did a great job with testing mastic and then removing asbestos containing tiles from my basement. Price was great, the work was done well, and Mike communicated well throughout the process."

"We hired Darryl to do home inspections twice. Both times were excellent service. Darryl knows what he is talking about and can quickly identify potential issues with the house. In our first inspection we identified potential water damage in the basement and ran a mold test. We luckily avoided a house with black mold thanks to his services. The second inspection was just as good at another house that we ended up purchasing. He has all the latest technology in order to do his job effectively and even better, provides a home inspection report online in a PDF within a day that neatly organizes all the findings. And you can access this report at anytime after completion. I would highly recommend Stocks Home Inspections to anyone I know."

"Bilal went above and beyond for me. I was supposed to have new flooring done on a Saturday, they said it could be asbestos on the tiles under the carpet and couldn't work until it was tested. Obviously I was devastated. He came out that afternoon, took the samples Monday to the lab so I could get same day results. Came out Tuesday to remove everything. Wednesday took the air sample to the lab for same day results. Completely above and beyond to help me and I'm very greatful. Thank you!"

FAQs for asbestos testing projects in Ferndale, MI

Asbestos appears as long, thin, or curled mineral fibers that are not visible to the naked eye under normal conditions. Homes constructed before 1989 are more likely to contain this material, so a professional inspection is essential. Because asbestos identification requires specialized techniques, having a certified inspector assess your property is the safest way to confirm its presence and protect your family’s health.

Free asbestos testing services do not exist. You can purchase testing kits online for $30 per unit, and these kits include lab fees, return shipping, consultation, sampling media, and the final results. The results from a kit are less detailed and accurate than those provided by a certified asbestos testing professional. Since collecting a sample exposes you to harmful fibers, hiring a professional is essential to ensure safety and accurate testing.

Receiving asbestos test results takes one to seven days, but different labs offer varying turnaround times. When expedited processing is arranged, the laboratory completes analysis within 24 hours; standard processing requires up to two weeks. Hiring a certified professional ensures that all samples are collected correctly and results are provided without delay, safeguarding your home throughout the process.

Home insurance doesn't often cover asbestos testing and removal. Many policies have a clause called a "pollution exclusion," which means they do not cover indoor pollutants like asbestos. However, your insurance company might cover something like asbestos siding removal costs if it is released due to things beyond your control, such as storm damage.

If a DIY project or accident in your home releases harmful fibers, you must pay for the test and removal.

Yes, you can legally inspect and remove asbestos in your house as long as it's a single-family home and not a multi-family unit. However, the EPA strongly recommends hiring an asbestos abatement pro since testing can be dangerous.

Pros have all the right tools and safety equipment, and you risk breathing in the fibers by taking samples yourself. They also know how to collect samples and safely dispose of materials properly.

Asbestos encapsulation is a process that seals asbestos-containing materials with a protective barrier to prevent the release of harmful fibers. It serves as an alternative to complete removal when full abatement is not necessary. Encapsulation costs between $2 and $6 per square foot, offering a cost-effective option that contains asbestos safely when applied by a certified professional.
