"BDS came out and inspected. Let me know that I didn't have the type of asbestos that "had" to be removed. He said the insulation had been done very well and didn't need to be removed. He also told me that if I had concerns about the stability of the insulation that I could have an air quality test done on an annual basis."

"Mike and his crew were punctual and professional. They followed proper procedures for removing asbestos-containing materials. We would hire them again for a similar project. <br />"

"I am so impressed with Tri-County Home Inspection Services.  They were early to the appointment, very friendly and professional.  They took their time and explained to me room by room and reviewed with me each appliance (furnace, water heater, fridge, stove) what they found, what they didn't find (which was good).  I received their review that same night which is very thorough. <br /> I can't write this enough, I am very pleased with their inspection services! <br />"

"They were so good. I had been getting a hard sell from another company and didn't feel comfortable with their answers. I went to the Protech Environmental Services  website and they were so informative, even providing national geologic surveys in the area explaining about why certain areas have radon and why. Any company that interested in just providing this info for free on their website deserved my call. When I called i spoke to David. He was so patient answering all my questions. I asked a lot of questions. He was so forthright and knowledgable, just sharing and answering. This is the kind of company I want to do business with, one who is interested in helping me and my home. I was surprised how soon they were able to come in for the appointment. I had 3 men here and they were very respectful of my property. Explaining everything they were going to do as well as asking me where exactly I wanted the vent to go (it was in a corner so i could go out either of 2 walls) They even helped with that decision and showed me on the outside as well as a nearby room where the vent tube would be and made sure we wouldn't see it from any interior window (just really thoughtful). THere was very little mess and they explained everything thoroughly to me when I asked. Once finished they explained what they did and what I could expect. they also provided me with a third party radon test (so it's impartial). They left no mess. did their job. THe clear sump pump cover is brilliant because I can see down and be aware incase the pump or water level has issues. Very Very pleased with everything. Good company , good people.  <br />"

FAQs for asbestos testing projects in Garden City, MI

Asbestos appears as long, thin, or curled mineral fibers that are not visible to the naked eye under normal conditions. Homes constructed before 1989 are more likely to contain this material, so a professional inspection is essential. Because asbestos identification requires specialized techniques, having a certified inspector assess your property is the safest way to confirm its presence and protect your family’s health.

Free asbestos testing services do not exist. You can purchase testing kits online for $30 per unit, and these kits include lab fees, return shipping, consultation, sampling media, and the final results. The results from a kit are less detailed and accurate than those provided by a certified asbestos testing professional. Since collecting a sample exposes you to harmful fibers, hiring a professional is essential to ensure safety and accurate testing.

Receiving asbestos test results takes one to seven days, but different labs offer varying turnaround times. When expedited processing is arranged, the laboratory completes analysis within 24 hours; standard processing requires up to two weeks. Hiring a certified professional ensures that all samples are collected correctly and results are provided without delay, safeguarding your home throughout the process.

Home insurance doesn't often cover asbestos testing and removal. Many policies have a clause called a "pollution exclusion," which means they do not cover indoor pollutants like asbestos. However, your insurance company might cover something like asbestos siding removal costs if it is released due to things beyond your control, such as storm damage.

If a DIY project or accident in your home releases harmful fibers, you must pay for the test and removal.

Yes, you can legally inspect and remove asbestos in your house as long as it's a single-family home and not a multi-family unit. However, the EPA strongly recommends hiring an asbestos abatement pro since testing can be dangerous.

Pros have all the right tools and safety equipment, and you risk breathing in the fibers by taking samples yourself. They also know how to collect samples and safely dispose of materials properly.

Asbestos encapsulation is a process that seals asbestos-containing materials with a protective barrier to prevent the release of harmful fibers. It serves as an alternative to complete removal when full abatement is not necessary. Encapsulation costs between $2 and $6 per square foot, offering a cost-effective option that contains asbestos safely when applied by a certified professional.
