Customers say: Quick response

"We have been restoring an old bungalow porch that had been screened in and neglected for many years. When we took down the old screen, we realized that the brick walls had no capping. Hence, us needing someone skilled in concrete. Geovanni and his team were great! Very quick and efficient with their work. We feel that we were quoted/charged fairly. The work is beautiful and we love how our porch looks now. We definitely recommend GC Construction."

"We expanded a ground floor family room, which required complete exterior and interior construction, with stacked stone to match existing exterior. Existing plumbing, electrical, and duct work had to be moved around. The room has a 5x10 closet with pull-down attic door and insulted attic above. A bay build-out added space to our dining room, and we added a walk-in pantry to the kitchen. Materials were included in the total price but not broken out. The contractor underestimated either the amount of stone needed or the cost of the (available) stone required to match the existing exterior. He covered about $400 of the additional materials cost; we covered about $1000 at his request. Lesson learned: In the contract, stipulate the dollar amount designated for special materials. Other than that and some slow downs due to occasional absent workers, the job went as planned and we're happy with the result. We appreciated the daily clean-up as it was a lengthy project and just living with the upheaval was at times a challenge. Mark had a cleaning crew come one weekend to help keep things in order."

"Crew arrived on time and when they began work, found out the problem was more extensive than originally estimated.  After dealing with the bigger problem, the smaller problem of some damaged soffit and guttering was addressed. Work was probably completed in about 3 hours"

" The handyman showed on time, was very polite and professional, and got the job done beautifully. It didn't take the full two hours so he asked if there was anything else he could do. He then installed the numbers on the brick outside our garage. Looks great! <br>I would recommend and use again."

"Working with Model is a great experience. We had used them for smaller projects before; I had had them bid on something in the late '80s but in the last 10 yrs or so we have used them often and many of our friends have as well. I have heard no adverse reports and we had a great friend and ally in this complicated and stressful rebuilding year. <br /> The management is very professional, experienced and super-responsive and responsible. Their workers are top notch in terms of quality and helpfulness. <br /> When accidental mistakes were made (for example, the wrong decking material was ordered), Model corrected the problem immediately and the final result is a great house like we wanted and built well and soundly. <br /> They have been in business for many years in the same location; you know where they are and can count on excellent work done responsively and with the highest quality. When it came time to select a contractor, we knew we wanted Model and we feel our choice was perfect. <br />"

"The work initially contracted was not completed: the pavers continue to be covered by a film (despite their contention that it would wear away); mortar splashes on the walls have not been cleaned. Secondly, the cover for the cellar entry is totally unacceptable. Although they claim that we never mentioned that it should be waterproof, that cannot be substantiated: it is clearly written on the paper we initially used to discuss the work to be done; I certainly mentioned it orally and reminded them that it was in the context of being waterproof that I mentioned how silly I was to buy the decking boards since they could not possibly be waterproof; and why would I replace a perfectly good cover, needing only painting, if some other additional quality was not needed. We had several discussions about the plywood and I certainly did sign a contract specifying plywood. However, I continued to believe that it would be waterproofed. It clearly is not since the plywood itself is warping. Furthermore, the workmanship is appalling. In addition, they have charged us for 17 windows, but there are only 16 and it is not clear that the window in the shop has been repairedd The two casements appear to have been repaired, although the material is already cracking; the two fixed windows between them do not appear to have been repaired. Furthermore, the driveway repair is barely acceptable: the surface is rough and is not the same level as that nearby. We contacted them because of an excellent rating on Angie’s List and because they listed their category as masonry. Although most of the remaining work was well done, the items above are far from excellent."

FAQs for brick or stone siding: install or completely replace projects in Gatlinburg, TN

Brick siding offers numerous advantages, including high durability and resistance to harsh weather conditions, requiring minimal maintenance and lasting for generations. It provides natural insulation, enhancing energy efficiency by regulating indoor temperatures year-round. Brick is fire-resistant, improving home safety, and reduces external noise for a quieter indoor environment. Its timeless aesthetic appeal boosts curb appeal and can increase your home's resale value.

Yes, you can add brick to an existing house. One option is to remove the current siding and install full brick masonry, which involves laying traditional bricks with mortar for a solid brick exterior. Alternatively, you can opt for brick veneer siding, a thinner layer of real or manufactured brick applied over the existing structure. Brick veneer is typically more affordable and easier to install while still providing the aesthetic benefits of brick. Both methods can enhance your home's appearance and value.

Yes, installing brick siding often provides a significant return on investment. With an average ROI of around 77%, and some returns exceeding 80%, brick siding enhances curb appeal, energy efficiency, and longevity, making your home more attractive to potential buyers and potentially increasing resale value.

Brick siding is known for its exceptional longevity, often lasting over 100 years when properly maintained. Regular maintenance, like repointing mortar joints, ensures its durability over time. Brick veneer, while thinner than full brick masonry, is durable and can last up to 50 years or more with proper care. Both options offer long-lasting protection and value for your home.

When choosing brick siding, consider your budget, as costs can vary depending on brick type and installation method. Also, consider your desired aesthetic; different bricks offer various colors, textures, and styles to complement your home's architecture. Installation time and complexity are factors, with options like brick veneer being quicker and less labor-intensive than full brick masonry. Additionally, assess the maintenance requirements and durability to select the best option for your long-term needs.

Alternatives to brick siding include vinyl siding, which is cost-effective and low-maintenance and offers a variety of colors and styles. Wood siding provides a natural, classic look but requires more upkeep to prevent weather damage. Fiber cement siding is durable and can mimic the appearance of wood or masonry without the high maintenance. Each alternative has its own advantages, so consider factors like budget, aesthetics, and maintenance when making your choice.
