"We needed to replace a patch of our living room ceiling due to damage from a water leak upstairs. We contacted C&B, who responded and quoted us a price quickly. The price was fair for a multi-day job, they got it done within a week, and they even helped us repaint the ceiling. Very professional, courteous, and trustworthy. We'd strongly recommend!"

"Matt gave me a far better price than other painters who priced my job, and the quality of his work was very high. He was extremely responsive to my requests and showed real integrity through the entire process. He definitely wanted to make sure I was happy with the work and that the job was done right. He did the entire interior of my house, and also some work on exterior (patched and then painted lower portion of home, below where siding started, and also sanded and painted my deck). He also removed some wallpaper before painting inside. Would definitely hire again. I felt I got real value for the price."

"She promptly answered my phone call regarding the job. Came out to give us an estimate after looking at the room and the wallpaper. We set up a date and time for the job. She arrived on time, did the agreed upon work to our satisfaction and left the work area clean. She was very professional and I would recommend her to others. <br />"

"Overall, I was delighted. In particular, Danny did an outstanding job of cleaning up each day! Stripping that wallpaper must have been an extremely messy job, but there was no indication of debris after he left for the day. The painting was neat and professional looking. The only flaws were due to lack of communication on my part - I forgot to take out the air conditioner in the window, and Danny painted around it. Also, he painted the outlet covers and light switch cover (because the previous bad paint job had left splatters of paint on them.) Next time, I will make sure to be clear about those kinds of things."

"There are professionals who paint and then there are professional painters. Anderson and his crew have painting honed to an art form. This is the 3rd time we’ve asked the, back into our home, and we have not been disappointed once. They are punctual, courteous, careful, and methodical. Switch covers and outlet covers are removed, not painted around. They’ve been able to turn the most damaged and wavy walls into near-perfect surfaces you’d swear are brand new - if you hadn’t watch them toil from 8am till after 5pm every day for a week to rehab it. They clean up each day, do their best to keep the dust contained with the latest technology vacuum sanders and plastic containment sheets. They know every trick of the trade and bring it all to bear on your project. If they say they can do it faster or cheaper than your other quotes, it’s because they know something the other guys don’t. If they say it will take longer, trust them... they’ve don’t it before and know what they are talking about. I’d absolutely hire them again, and wouldn’t think of calling anyone else unless they were too busy to hit my deadline."

FAQs for wallcovering or wallpaper removal projects in Manchester, CT

You can determine your wall type through tactile and visual tests. Start by checking the surface by inserting a thumbtack, feeling the texture, tapping to listen for a hollow sound, and examining cut edges under outlet covers. Drywall feels soft with a hollow sound, while plaster is hard and solid. These checks are especially useful in older homes where plaster is more common.

After removing wallpaper, you can dispose of small amounts in your household trash. However, if you are removing wallpaper from your entire home, you’ll need to contact a waste removal service, rent a dumpster, or arrange a special pick-up with your municipality’s waste service. Wallpaper cannot be recycled, so it is important to keep it separate from the recycling stream to comply with local waste guidelines.

It takes a professional from several hours up to a full day to remove wallpaper from a single room. The removal duration depends on the type of adhesive, the age of the wallpaper, the condition of the wall, and the number of layers present. High ceilings and additional layers increase the time required, as extra care is taken to protect the wall surface while ensuring a complete removal.

Using fabric softener with water is an option for removing wallpaper, but its effectiveness is limited and depends on the type of wallpaper being used. This low-cost method is most effective on modern, less porous wallpaper and may not yield optimal results on vintage or textured varieties. It might also affect wall surface preparation for new coverings if the residue is not completely removed. For stubborn adhesive or textured surfaces, professional solutions are recommended to ensure a thorough removal without damaging the underlying wall.
