"FANTASTIC experience! Mr. Tutko returned my call quickly, and had a plumber over to our house within just a couple of hours. Jeff Gill was terrific - professional, knowledgeable and helpful. <br /> We were convinced a jet tub upstairs was leaking into and damaging the kitchen ceiling. Jeff found the access door to the tub, and noticed no leaks - but the view was limited. He ultimately needed to cut out a piece of drywall in the kitchen to take a look at the whole situation. When he couldn't find a leak, he continued to search to find the source of the water - turns out, when the home was built, the builders left some fairly good-sized holes open on the exterior. We'd never noticed, Jeff was the first to find them. He's a plumber, so he couldn't do the needed repairs, but he recommended steps we could take on our own to handle the problem, at least temporarily. <br /> He then closed the drywall hole in the kitchen with a couple of screws. We'll get that repaired (should be very easy to do). Totally worth it to know what was really happening with the upstairs plumbing. <br /> I just can't say enough nice things about this company, their professionalism and their quick response! <br /> We will absolutely use Tutko Plumbing again! <br />"

"<p>This was a big deal purchase. What he said was causing it was when they installed this toilet they didn't, according to him, install some kind of metal weird ring that I don't know what he called because the flooring was taller. It is not leaking anymore so I guess I would say it was working okay. He really didn't tell me after looking at it what the costs were going to be until he actually finished it. He started doing everything and was doing all the work and I did not know what the bottom line was going to be. I would like to have known sooner. That was the only complaint I had. If I remember right he was on time. It is hard to remember exactly that long ago. Once he got into it he should have told me how much it was going to be for both parts and labor. That was the professional way to do it. </p>"

"Moon Valley Plumbing was great.  Alex was the plumber who we dealt with and he did a great job walking us through the details of what the problem(s) might be and what solutions were available to us.  <br /> We ended up having to have our patio cut open to replace some pipe below it, however, this was much preferable to having to tear out our bathrooms.  <br /> We were a little bit frazzled and our last plumber had not shown up for the appointment and just simply refused to do any work or evaluation for us (Allied Plumbing).  <br /> Alex was prompt, professional and really ended up nailing the solution that saved us the greatest amount of money and headaches.  Moon Valley was great in the fact that the realized we were in a bind with this emergency and so they adjusted their staffing schedules to get us taken care of and have all the problems fixed within 36 hours of when we were first in contact.  <br /> After taking a few days with no water exiting the house, we were overjoyed to have everything working again.  <br />"

FAQs for basement drainage channels installation projects in Glendale, AZ

Expect a well-built French drain to last 30 to 40 years. By channeling both surface- and ground-water away from your foundation, the system relieves hydrostatic pressure and helps prevent costly structural damage. Choose a pipe with a quality cloth filter to keep sediment out and extend the drain’s life. A quick annual inspection and routine cleanouts will keep water flowing freely, ensuring the system continues to protect your home for years to come.

Most French drains sit two feet below grade, but depth ultimately depends on the problem you’re solving. For puddling rainwater or snowmelt, a shallow curtain drain at lawn level often does the trick. To handle rising groundwater, pros dig deeper, down to the footing, and run the pipe beneath the basement slab. A drainage contractor will determine the optimal depth for your specific soil conditions and water issues.

A properly installed interior French drain captures water at the slab, channels it to a sump pit, and directs it safely outside, preventing basement floods before they occur. Because the pipe sits just under the floor edge, a plumber can reach it easily for cleaning or repairs. Pairing the drain with a reliable sump pump gives you the best long-term protection.

Hire a contractor who installs drainage systems every day—typically a foundation specialist, drainage contractor, experienced landscaper, or plumber with waterproofing experience. These pros understand slope, soil, and local codes, and they have the equipment to trench safely around utilities. Ask for references and photos of recent jobs to be sure they can design a system that keeps water off your foundation for decades.

Once the drain is in, patch the yard by reseeding bare spots or replacing plants the crew removed. Inside, look for ways to add value—finishing the basement or upgrading interior waterproofing while the space is open often costs less now than later. Schedule a quick annual checkup to flush sediment and confirm the pipe and sump pump are clear. Consistent maintenance ensures the drain functions properly and protects your investment.

Most policies don’t cover the cost of repairing a French drain itself, but they may provide coverage for water damage if the system fails. Coverage varies by insurer, so be sure to read the fine print or contact your agent before any issues arise. If you live in a high-risk flood zone, consider a separate flood policy to close the gap. Knowing your coverage in advance helps you budget for repairs and avoid unexpected costs.
