Customers say: Quick response

"I hired Bob Lewicke to refinish another desk for me. This is the third one Bob has done for me. His workmanship is excellent. I couldn't be happier with this desk. It now looks brand new. Bob always answers his phone and it's a pleasure working with him. I'm sure to have more work done by him again in the future. I highly recommend Bob for all furniture refinishing. David B."

"The company immediately responded to my email for help.  When I went to the establishment for more information, they clearly explained exactly what they would be able to do and showed me the materials with which they'd complete the work.  The loveseat was returned to me within one week's time and looks fantastic.  Even more satisfying, it 'sits' better than it did when it was brand new.  I'm no longer embarrassed to have it in my home.  This was not inexpensive but definitely worth the cost.  The sofa in another room now knows it's reached its last days in its current condition. <br />"

"We had used Sweet Success last year for refinishing our front porch railing and installing a new porch floor and gate. Since that job worked so well, we contracted with them again this year to paint the siding and extensive wood trim on our 3-story century-old home. But the job became a much larger one when Chris' testing revealed that what we thought were harmless siding tiles turned out to contain asbestos fibers and had to be removed, since scraping them as part of the painting preparation would release the asbestos fibers into the air. And so what we thought would be a painting job turned into a home restoration job that took about 4 weeks for Chris and his team to complete. They followed all appropriate environmental regulations in removing the asbestos siding. Chris worked closely with us to identify and purchase replacement fiber cement siding that would be appropriate for our house. Chris and his crew spent literally days scraping and grinding down the old layers of paint so that once painted, the wood trim looked like new wood. When they had to replace worn wood they finished and trimmed the new boards so they exactly matched the originals. When they ran into difficulty trying to apply the siding pieces to a wavy portion of the front facade, they problem-solved and put in the extra time and effort to ensure that the surface looked flat and no evidence of the difficulty of this part of the job was evident in the finished product! Our house has a lot of windows--a 7-window and a 3-window bay on the 2nd floor alone--and we have old storm windows that had to be re-painted as part of the job. They primed, scraped and re-painted some 33 window panes, and even planed and fitted them back into the windows at the end of the job. Chris and the team professionally and artistically applied a 3-color paint scheme to the house exterior. The lines were clean and straight and no stray paint marks/drips were left on the windows or painted surfaces. At our request they offered a couple suggestions to enhance the pattern of color application. We took them up on their suggestions and the results were great. We were also impressed with the safety measures Chris and his team took in protecting themselves from injury and our home and landscaping from collateral damage. They made extensive use of drop cloths on our porch, bushes, and even our sidewalks. The 6-person crew from Sweet Success was a group of very professional, highly-skilled craftsman who worked together well and cooperatively solved any problems they encountered. Crew members reported to work at 7:30 every day they were scheduled and did not require close supervision--they knew their jobs and appeared to take pride in their work. They worked steadily all-day, were always polite and helpful, and patiently responsive to all our questions and requests. They thoroughly cleaned up after themselves as they went along, as well as when the job was done. We cannot imagine a better group than this one to have working on your property. We couldn't be more pleased with this latest work on our house. Through Chris and the Team's efforts, we now have the loveliest-looking exterior of any house in our neighborhood. Now let's be clear: Sweet Success is not cheap but neither is their work. If you want terrific outcomes, and a job done correctly that will give you many years of enjoyment, use Sweet Success. By the way...we already have a job scheduled with them for next fall! Thanks again to Chris, Paul, Gregg, Jake, Curtis and KeAndre."

"I emailed, and got an immediate response. We set up a day and time, and he arrived when he said he would. I have an eight piece leather sectional which had not been cleaned in a year. He cleaned it beautifully, and cleaned it the proper way. I was always fearful of cleaning it myself, because I didn't want to damage it by using the wrong product or doing it the wrong way. He cleaned it thoroughly and gently. <br /> I also had some wear on the seating surfaces, places that the color was worn off the leather, and a few surface scratches from my kids and the dogs. He applied new dye and a finishing sealer coat to these areas. The leather on the sofa looked like brand new. He did a great job. <br /> The leather of my car interior needs some attention. I plan on having him clean that too. <br /> I was extremely satisfied with the job. I would recommend this company without hesitation. <br /> <br />"

"It went great! I was home on maternity leave with a two month old and while it's always difficult to have your house turned upside down the guys were extremely accommodating of our unique circumstances. They were extremely detail oriented and hard working and they were also friendly and nice to be around. They showed up on time every day and worked a full day. They kept me informed of their progress and accommodated my requests to get a certain room done at a certain time. This was a huge project that involved moving all of our furniture and cleaning up 100 year old molding and bad former paint jobs. They made suggestions like removing hardware on decorative windows to allow for a more smooth finish. At the end of every day they vacuumed and cleaned up before leaving. Their equipment is top of the line and I wasn't worried about sanders etc. with a small baby in the house. I can't recommend their services enough."

"He did a good job and we already have referred him to a friend. It is a drive for us but this guy is worth it. It is easy to get a job that is not so good when having furniture repaired; however David is meticulous and his prices are very reasonable. The chair repair was substantial so it was worth the price. You generally take the furniture to him and he has another job so you are not going to get your furniture back the same day; it took about a week for ours to be finished. He did what he was supposed to do and finished when he said he would. I will use him again in the future."

"My poor winged back chair and ottoman were destroyed over the years by puppies that we fostered.  I looked around the Pgh area and got quotes from different businesses to get the chair and ottoman reupholstered.  I went onto Angie's List and found Santom Upholstery and Refinishing.  Since they had an "A" rating, I called them, sent them a picture, and they got back with me very quickly with a quote.  The service and quality was impeccable, price was great, and the final product was absolutely beautiful.  I highly recommend them, and will be sending other pieces of furniture their way. <br />"

FAQs for furniture refinish projects in Glenshaw, PA

A complete table refinishing project requires between four and eight days from start to finish. The actual hands-on work takes between two and 10 hours, with the remaining time dedicated to drying periods between applications. The stripping and sanding phases demand the most active labor, while applying finishes requires patience as each layer dries completely before proceeding.

Several elements influence dining table refinishing costs, with size being the primary factor. Larger tables or those with extensions require more materials and labor time. The wood type matters significantly—hardwoods may need specialized treatment compared to softer woods. The table's current condition also impacts pricing, as damaged surfaces need repairs before refinishing can begin.

Refinishing often proves more economical than purchasing a comparable quality replacement. Professional table refinishing costs between $150 and $400 on average, while preserving the original craftsmanship and character of your piece.

This approach makes particular sense for well-constructed wood furniture that would be expensive to replace with similar quality. For sentimental pieces or antiques, refinishing also maintains their history and personal value.

Professional furniture refinishers charge between $40 and $100 per hour for their services. This rate varies based on geographic location, the refinisher's experience level, and the complexity of the project. Some professionals offer project-based pricing rather than hourly rates, especially for standard-sized pieces like coffee tables or end tables. When requesting quotes, ask whether the estimate includes materials or represents labor costs only.

For tables with minor wear, you can sometimes refresh the appearance without complete stripping and sanding. Using gel stains and wipe-on finishes can address surface issues while preserving the existing finish underneath. This approach works best for tables with light cosmetic damage rather than those with deep scratches or damaged finishes. However, proper stripping and sanding remain necessary for comprehensive restoration or significant color changes for professional-quality results.
