"Mike installed a ceiling fan and replaced 6 switches. He did a great job in a timely manner. The price was considerably lower than I anticipated. I have already hired him for another job."

"The service was excellent! They arrived to pick up the vehicle a day earlier which was great. They delivered the vehicle right to my daughter's door and found a side street to unload. The service was delivered within the time frame given. All of my questions were answered via phone or email and the paperwork was seamless and the price was very reasonable."

"It went well, they did the work to our satisfaction..  I do think they would benefit by having their own generator for electricity.   They use an air compressor to clear out the water lines but do not have their own electrical source.  That must be provided by the customer.  We did but had to buy a power generator to make the work happen. <br />"

"Ed was so meticulous and conscientious and came through with flying colors with all that I needed, and more. <br /> I hired him to caulk all my windows, paint the trim on my multi-dormered house, and paint/save my porches. <br /> I had wondered if my porches needed replacement instead of just paint. They were so hurt by last winter's frost heaves. He figured out a way to save their integrity and bolstered their footprints so that they are beautiful! <br /> The trim job is wonderful. The house was new-construction when I bought it in 2010 and it now looks better than new!  Ed also did some major work building footings for a side porch that was so important to me.   <br /> Ed also pointed out potential problems, as he discovered them, so that I would be aware of things to look for with respect to any infrastructural issues.  I was so thankful for his input! <br /> One of the best experiences I have had since settling in Maine. Thank you, Ed Goodfriend. <br />"

"I first spoke with the company in the springtime, had two gentlemen come over to provide a quote. There was quite a range depending on whether the mold was invasive enough to remove the deck in order to clear all the rot. Based on reviews and word of mouth, we booked them and they required a 20% deposit. Their estimated time to get to us would not be until September. Whomever was emailing me was a bit difficult to communicate with, responses would be minimal, felt like I was pulling teeth for information. In the end, they did not start their work until October. Originally, we were told it would be 1-2 weeks to be completed which we needed time off from work for. We were also told the folks doing the work would be here at 8am, however they were usually not arriving until after 9 supposedly because they were required to go to their home base first for 8am, then traveled to our home. Upon completion, the amount due was much more than the quote. When my husband and I revisited this quote, we realized it had been very oddly written and could see how the extra was sort of accounted for, but the way it was written, it seemed like that extra amount was only if they needed to remove the deck to repair (which they did not). We asked for a line by line accounting which they could not give us. They did not realize our door was a special size, smaller than most, and said the "special order door" was an extra cost, although it was smaller. In the end, the work was very well done and the guys who removed our old door, the mold, and replaced everything were very polite and did great work, but the communication and billing didn't quite sit right. It also only went over 3 days, so the difference was quite a bit too. In the end, I would recommend them for their work, but be prepared to be flexible and make sure to read everything thoroughly, a few times before booking and be extra diligent about asking questions."

"David was great. We had some challenges coordinating our schedules, but I get impression he's a busy guy, and I can understand why. He did an amazing job with the television install, going way above and beyond expectations, including running all the wiring behind the wall. He took the time to explain everything, was happy to answer questions, and he did a great job with the cleanup. Very happy with the service. Would definitely work with him again. <br />"

"<p>I am a 88 years old widowed woman. I live on a very limited income of social security and a small pension my husband left when he died in March 2013. In May 2013 my hot water tank wouldn't work any longer. I was almost broke due to the funeral cost of burying my husband. I called 6 local plumbers (Crouch Sons Plumbing, Hearn Plumbing Company, Hoyt Lane & Sons Plumbing, Fuller Plumbing, Beck Boys Plumbing and Shoals MPE) hoping one would take the $386,00 that I could afford to pay and replace my hot water tank. Everyone of them gave me a bid of 650 to over a 1000 dollars to replace it. I explained to each one how much I had and why and each one said they just couldn't help me. I went May 2013 thru December 2013  without hot water, I took sponge baths over my sink after I warmed water on my stove.</p> <p>At Church one Sunday I asked someone if they knew anyone that did hot water tank work, and I was given a card of Sweet Home Repairs. I called them and Eric and Rodger came to my home and after I explained  my situation they left for Lowes and returned about a hour later with a hot water tank and installed it. I offered to pay them the 700 dollars I had saved to replace it but Mr. Denton and his worker Rodger refused the payment. I insisted and again they refused but said they would except a bowl of spaghetti and meat balls that I was cooking for dinner guest I was having over that night. I gladly paid them. They thank me for lunch and away they left. I have never gotten to truly thank them but they both are wonderful young men. Please hire them they a wonderful company unlike others I mentioned.</p>"

FAQs for thermostat installation and replacement projects in Gray, ME

Smart thermostats may be worth it for many homeowners. They come with various features, including voice control and smartphone apps. Vacation mode can help lower energy usage when you’re out of town for an extended period. Alert warnings let you know about major spikes or drops in temperature. Smartphone apps can track energy usage, and smart thermostats can learn your routine over time to adjust your temperature and reduce wasted energy consumption automatically.

You typically do not need more than one smart thermostat. While it’s common to see multiple mechanical thermostats throughout a large home, multiple smart thermostats may try to override each other. This can lead to problems with the HVAC system. Ensure the unit you buy has the option for dual- or multi-zoned systems to avoid compatibility issues.

Installing a programmable or smart thermostat may save you $180 per year in utility costs. A big part of this comes from a smart thermostat’s ability to learn and adapt to your regular routines. With smartphone apps or web-based interfaces, you also have the option to control your thermostat when you’re not home.
