"

Lined up another sub-contractor to come by and give estimate to take out wall so I could expand/add kitchen island, but neither the first person I met with nor the sub-contractor followed up with me to provide the total estimate.  I left a message a few weeks later asking for a call back and never received one.

In the end, whether they could do the work I was asking for or not, had they followed up with me, I would have considered them for my cabinet refinishing work, which I will be doing this summer.

UPDATE November 7, 2014: The owner of the co got back with me after seeing this review. He went above and beyond to address the poor follow through and put me in touch with another designer who promptly contacted me and drew up some plans. They addressed all my questions and on top of that he even reimbursed the $50 fee. I was very pleased with the recommendation, timeliness and over all effort to make it right."

"When we called Jeff, he made an appointment for the next day, arrived on time, was unfailingly polite, and immediately found the problem with the door. He had a quick solution for it, fixed it, and it's still fine. We may ask him to come back to remove the doorframe, correct the opening so it is square, and reframe it, re-hang the door again, and paint the new doorframe on both sides. The original door frame sloped downhill about 15 degrees from the time it was installed.

"From the salesperson to the installers, this job went as promised.  We were given several options as far as type of window but no pressure to upgrade.  This was a total difference from a big retail company that we had come out.  They kept asking us what we wanted with no suggestions--we are not the experts!

"I’ve had Jesse out twice- he secured my undermount sink and caulked it, stabilized a pedestal sink and caulked, caulked a shower, painted an interior window, and helped plan out future project lists to chop away at our “to-do” list. The price is great, the company responds right away to my text messages (I love that I can text instead of call or e-mail), and everything is done on time and quickly."

"We hired Young Remodeling to install a complex and custom pantry near the back door alcove of our kitchen.  We own an old home, so our kitchen is small.  The new pantry was/is designed to help add counter space to the main kitchen area by providing cabinet storage for a microwave oven, as well our toaster oven and coffee maker via a quartz counter top.  We also wanted to add additional storage via 4 custom cabinets.  Special pullouts were designed for storage containers in a lower cabinet, as well as a pullout bar beneath the microwave.  Young Remodeling did fantastic work on all facets of the job.  From recommending vendors, to providing design options, to ensuring quality in the cabinets, counter top, and tile, and of course the install - it was all top notch.  The end result is absolutely stunning. Of note, we would have given Young Remodeling high marks for the work in general, but they get exceptional points for problem solving. We had a severe challenge with one of our door options.  Working with my wife and I they were able to create a unique sliding door solution that actually performed better than the original design.  It looked amazing and didn't add any costs.  All in all, they are just fabulous to work with and their work product is of the highest standards.  We plan to continue to work with Young as we continue to remodel our plaza area home.

"We had a bit of a rough start: the project was started about a month late. That left me feeling anxious, but I was also in contact with our sales rep Karin, and she always responded to my questions in a timely manner. I have to thank her also for being super patient with all of the questions I texted her over the course of the project, too, she is super! Once the project started, things moved very smoothly. The first team took care of installing all of the studs, drywall, and all the mudding/taping, which went up over about 2 weeks of daily work. They wrapped up with spraying the ceiling with a nice texture. The gentlemen performing the work always cleaned things up when they would leave for the day, and asked questions as needed. Once the first effort completed, the detailing crew took over the day to day work, which included installing the trim, doors, flooring, banister and spindles for the stairs, and took care of the painting. The electrician came on a couple of occasions to handle lights, outlets and the like, and the plumbing work was done toward the end (most of it was already in place, just a matter of redirecting the sink's drain). It took a couple more weeks to wrap up with everything that needed to be finished, including the installation of the new toilet and sink. The only issue we kind of struggled with was sometimes I would ask the crew a question and they had no prior knowledge of some aspect that was supposed to be completed - specifically an access panel to the humidifier behind one of the walls. What I learned though is that the whole team typically had meetings before arriving at the house to discuss the day's tasks, and that if I went to Karin first to ask about something, she would then make sure the crew knew what needed to be done. Once I understood that dynamic, we didn't have any more concerns - just have to be attentive and proactive in reaching out for information. Overall, my husband and I are SUPER happy with the results! We love this new space! Everyone involved in completing the basement remodel was very professional, and honestly they left the basement even cleaner than they found it. We would definitely consider having them over again if we have another remodeling project to complete."

"Brad and I had selected an approximate time for him to come out on a Saturday to do the work. He called that morning to tell me hw was running late and gave me a specific time he would arrive. I really appreciated that. He arrived at the time we set and he went right to work. There was a steady drizzle but Brad didn't let that deter him. He quickly put up the new handing plant and put the replaced basket in the garage for me. He assembled and installed the new storm door, putting the screen door that it replaced in the garage for me at my request. The storm door did not (for some reason) come with a door handle; I had to buy that separately. Brad installed the doorknob also, testing everything to make sure it worked satisfactorily. The door closes gently by itself and latches securely, The deadbolt fits neatly into the doorframe. The handle works well and doesn't feel loose or wobbly. Brad also explained how the screen and window sections worked in this particular door. He took away the cardboard box and packing materials that the door came with so I didn't have to worry about disposing of them. It didn't take Brad any time at all to swap out the mailboxes (the new one looks great!). He also took a look at the knob on the front door; it appears the problem is just making sure the mechanism is properly lubricated. (On windy days, the door would blow open even if it was shut., Brad determined that the latch that goes into the striker plate on the doorframe was stuck inside the door, and the door didn't latch securely as a result.) While we were talking, I told Brad that I also wanted to replace the storm door in the back of the house, but I hadn't figured out how to get the door to me house without having to pay the $59 delivery fee. Brad offered to pick the storm door up at the store on his way to my house and install it for me. I plan to do that. Brad was pleasant, extremely competent, and very dedicated. I've waited years to find someone I could trust to properly take care of the miscellaneius handyman projects that crop up around the house from time to time. I believe my wait is over! I would definitely highly recommend Brad's services to anyone."

FAQs for laminate countertops installation projects in Greenwood, MO

With the right care and a professional installation, laminate counters last 10 to 15 years. Wipe up spills quickly, clean with a nonabrasive product, and keep hot pots off the surface to prevent warping or scorch marks. Limiting prolonged moisture at seams also pays off. Your installer can walk you through simple maintenance habits that will help you squeeze every year out of your new counters.

Yes—if the existing laminate is solid and level, a pro can bond a fresh sheet right on top. They’ll rough up the old surface, apply the correct adhesive, and make precise cuts so the new layer sits tight. Skipping steps can lead to bubbles or weak seams, so this project is best left to an experienced installer who has the tools to deliver a clean, durable finish.

Absolutely, you can give tired laminate a facelift with paint, tile, or a concrete overlay instead of a full tear-out. The key is thorough prep: clean, degrease, and lightly sand so the new finish sticks.

Follow the product instructions for primer, sealers, and cure times, or hire a pro if you’d rather avoid the mess. When done correctly, these updates freshen the look and add a few more years of useful life.

Mix baking soda with just enough water to form a paste, then spread it over the stain and let it sit for five minutes. Wipe away with a soft, damp cloth—don’t scrub, as abrasives can dull the surface. Repeat if needed. For stubborn marks, ask your installer about cleaners made specifically for laminate.

Laminate isn’t built to battle the elements. Water, UV rays, and temperature swings quickly cause swelling, fading, and mold. Even a covered patio won’t protect the material for long. If you’re planning an outdoor kitchen or bar, skip laminate and choose a weather-tough option like stone, tile, or concrete so you don’t end up replacing your counters after the first season.

Traditional laminate isn’t the greenest choice. Most sheets rely on plastics like melamine and can emit trace VOCs over time. They also can’t be recycled at the end of their life. A few brands now use recycled pulp cores, but plastics still make up much of the product.

If sustainability tops your list, consider natural or recyclable materials such as solid wood, stone, or recycled glass instead.
